{Intro}

Every 1,000-2,000 years the four great Phoenixes are reborn. In a dazzling display of flame and ash, they die and reform. They take their ashes and form two eggs, and then deliver them to the leaders of the magical communities. The eggs often contain nothing more than ashes, but sometimes they will contain gifts.

Only this time the Phoenixes' eggs contained one stone each, and a prophecy, only one person was able to gather the contents of these former eggs. And thus with the Phoenixes' gifts received the great birds left yet again, off to live in their realm for another lifetime, until they passed again.

Each stone was a specific color, one was a fiery read, the other a frosty ice-blue, the next a lush forest green and the last a piercing yellow-gold. Each one bore no symptoms to anyone who touched them, and so they were left to the original taker of them.

For the longest time no one knew what the stones meant, but after five hundred years their purpose is finally discovered. Four children born at the turn of the century, each with one eye the color of the stone. Each child lived in the same Kingdom, the same town and the same year. Only thing different, the season they were born in.

When the children reached the age of 18 the woman who fathered the stones originally sought them out, giving each their stone, and thus completing the ritual of the Phoenixes. Now these former children are pushed together to defend the Phoenixes from an eternally long threat.

{Now}

The year is about 1330, in an advanced society known as Hearth's Forge. A great kingdom that relies upon the ashes of the four Phoenixes to fuel their magical needs, and keep their society thriving.
