The Prulose Project {Literate RP Sign-Ups}

No longer accepting Subjects until we get more staff. Any Subjects submitted after Blake Nichols will not be accepted until we get at least two more staff members. Staff is necessary for the RP to progress!

Prulose Labs, started in 1996, aims to help people with abilities master and control those powers. They house themselves just outside of Seattle and maintain a large structure above ground for all staff to sleep with small labs on the lowest floor and sleeping quarters above, but an even larger structure below, rumored to have people with abilities trapped deep within. Surrounded on all sides by electric fences that are designed to keep people with abilities in the grounds little else is known.

You are someone born with a genetic mutation that gifted you with incredible abilities. Taken to Prulose Labs, willingly or not, and stored there for observation on how these abilities work, how they can be contained, your limits, your weaknesses, and how to stop them.

But Prulose isn't perfect, and this government funded project can only get so much support without showing results.

{Rules}

-No God-Modding, Sues or Power Playing
-Omni powers(excluding omnilingualism), invisibility, mind reading, manipulation of others, shape shifting, immortality, time manipulation, and magic are powers not to be used
-No power limit, but all powers must be related to one another(Someone who has ice manipulation can also take on cold manipulation, or water and vapor manipulation and so forth)
-Don't have everyone on the same three powers, if needed use the Superpower Wiki to find some new ones
-No killing other characters, injury is fine. This includes amongst your own characters.
-Give all characters a fighting chance when fighting, no instant hits
-Keep everything even, I will stop accepting if there are too many of one compared to others(too many on one gender, too many with powers etc.)
-Be literate and post 3+ sentences per post, per character used. Adding on keep in mind caps lock is not needed to express shouting. An exclamation point followed by; they yelled, can suffice.
-Give me a random fact of your character in other
-Not everyone working in the lab is abilityless. There are normal people working and it is encouraged to make some normal people
-Nothing past crushes
-Stick with the personality you give your character, it grows annoying when people set them up one way and go a different direction with their character
-Keep all others involved, don't ignore characters. Adding on, don’t get more than ten posts between you and another if no one else is active.
-Keep drama to a minimum, so no obsessive yelling and getting mad st others for little reason, and don't use major plots or major changes without my permission. Escape would qualify under this as would taking over Prulose labs.
-Follow all forum rules
-Subjects have preassigned clothing. Staff must follow a semi-formal to formal attitude when dressing for work
-No swearing, even if you star it out, don't do it.
-Weaknesses are your characters kryptonite, limitations are how long and how far their powers can last. Weaknesses are not needed for simple enhancements(Heightened intelligence, increased agility etc.), but limitations are needed for all.
-If you break any of these rules once you will be warned privately. Twice and I will inform you on the thread. Three times and you will be removed from the RP

Looks: Maxwell is about five foot six, he has neat and well trimmed salt and pepper hair. He has a set of horn rimmed glasses, and light brown eyes.
Clothing: He wears a suit and tie of varying colors, mainly black, gray and ivory with black shoes.
Abilities(Ignore if None): He can increase, decrease and temporarily negate the powers of others.
>Weaknesses: Obviously other people capable of negating powers, but also iron and obsidian blocks his powers
>Limitations: Negating powers works for at most two hours. He can only decrease and increase powers twice their normal capacity.
Past: Maxwell grew up in a family in which he was the oldest to four sisters. He worked hard and strove to help his family when he was able to help. He worked from a young age, juggling school and work as well as caring for his sisters.
When word reached him about Prulose Labs hiring people, and giving a small bonus to the families of those with abilities, he jumped at the opportunity. And started aiding in their research into those with abilities.
Personality: Maxwell is well learned, he is one of reason and rationality. He often is the one to break apart fights, and despite working with the labs he has a genuine passion for helping people develop their powers and perfect them.
Other: He was the only one out of his entire family to develop powers.

Past: Jasper grew up in a family that had enough money to get by. They didn’t have much to spend on unnecessary things, but Jasper never craved material objects beyond the book he could pick up at the library. He grew fascinated with the mutations of genes on the human cells and started putting together his own studies on it falling back with Prulose Labs’ research as a safety net. After he made a jump to further their knowledge-although it wasn’t a vast leap-they took him in, hiring him after he was found in his small home.
Personality: Jasper is excitable and bubbly, he is eager to learn more about everything and is very kind to nearly everyone. He is a very difficult person to anger, and so it is rather a concerning moment when he finally does break. And as out-going as he is, he still prefers reading and furthering his knowledge than actually socializing to great extents to people. Although he still is known to socialize and get to know great numbers of people.
Other: Jasper is an only child, born to parents who are only children.

Past: Lily had a pretty normal life. She had lived with her parents in a small town and did well in school. She had a few close friends, being antisocial, but was over all happy.
Personality: Very sweet and shy, Lily is introverted and to her self. She is very quiet and trusting. Lily has a innocent like personality and is easily frightened.

Looks: Straight black hair and purple blue eyes. She has bangs across her for head forehead. She's pale and stands at 6 feet tall.
Abilities: Flying is part of her power. The other is energy and from the moon. It means that the moon can help her recharge her energy every night so if she has full energy, she can become very hyper. By the time the moon sets, her extra energy will be gone.
Weakness: Electric and the sun.
Limitations: She can't fly long distances and energy and power from the sun only comes on full moons. The rest of the moon on the non full days give her a bit of strength.
Past: Stella had a normal childhood with lots of friends. It was happy and peaceful back then.
Personality: Friendly, kind, caring, and smart. She's neutral so preffers not to fight.

Looks: Seika has dark brown hair tied up into a ponytail. She has a slightly heavy build and has dark crimson eyes with a fair skin color.
Abilities: Darkness Manipulation, such as making things go darker, or making solid shadows to attack, but the latter is weak.
Weaknesses: She dislikes direct exposure to sunlight.
Limitations: Solid shadows tire Seika out quicker, which is why she rarely uses it. She also cannot manipulate one's shadow at all.
Past: Seika's past wasn't something she can remember. What she knows is that her mother died when she was 10 and her father stayed with Seika until she was 17, where he died. She soon went along to joining Prulose Labs a few months after her 18th birthday.
Personality: Seika prefers to treat everybody equal, and is a bit fearless. They're very open and likes to comfort others when they feel bad.

Looks: Red curly hair that reaches just past the top of his ears. His eyes are a vibrant green, that almost seem to glow. He has a paler tone of skin with freckles sprinkled across his cheeks. He has a slightly weaker build for a male, his ears are also a tad big.
Abilities: He was born with a tapetum lucidum in his eyes so he is able to see in the dark and ultra violet. He was also born with the ability to hear both much higher and lower frequencies then a normal human.
Weaknesses: Extremely high sensitivity to sound and light.
Limitations: Although born with special sight and hearing capabilities, he can not see the color red.
Past: Growing up with his high sensitivity to light, he rarely went outside, as it was often a sunny day where he lived. The few times he went out, he would leave in the night while his parents slept. His parents soon grew worried that he would never leave the house nor survive very well if he did as he approached the age of 18, so, knowing of his odd abilities, they sent him off to Prulose Labs in hopes he would do better off there.
Personality: Introvert, night owl (pun intended lol), lonely, resentful, more of a glass half empty kind of guy. (He's not the happiest person basically)

Other: Due to knowing his parent sent him off, but not knowing why, he thinks they simply didn't want a mutated child any longer, so he has a slight resentment of them now. He has an odd habit of hissing sometimes when exposed to bright light or high pitched sounds.

Looks: Subject 0 is about six foot two, she has black hair, cut to her shoulders and pale blue eyes.
Abilities: Intuitive Aptitude, she is given the innate ability to understand how things work regardless of complexity.
Weaknesses:Copper
Limitations: Having the vast knowledge of everything before her caused her to mildly unstable mentally. She developed a craving to learn more about people like her.
Past: Subject 0 was the daughter of the man who started Prulose labs, when her abilities first started manifesting at the age of 7 her father set out to figure out how to help his child. Giving her simple watches and mystery novels to keep her calm he began to find funding for Prulose labs. Once Subject 0 reached the age of 16 she was brought in and tests were started. It wasn't until she started attacking the guards in her efforts to be released so she could learn more that she was first forcibly restrained. A few more times after that. The last attempt, in which she managed to knock Maxwell unconscious after he attempted to aid her by negating her powers, sent her father down to freeze his own daughter until the could find a possible cure. Subject 0 remains in the cryogenics lab, to this day.
Personality: Subject 0 is often fluctuating between two different personalities, Subject 0 is calculating, manipulative, sarcastic, and cold. She is driven to learn more than she already knows even at the cost of her own stability. But she can also flip to being far calmer and more compassionate given the right atmosphere. She can be viewed as warm and caring as well.
Either way, Subject 0 finds solace and a calming atmosphere in books and fixing necklaces, often not at the threat of violent outbursts or otherwise. Viewed more as merely neutral and calm than either way.

Gender: Male
Looks: Blake is 5'9". He has brown eyes and short, hazelnut hair. He is tan and skinny, but stronger than he looks.
Abilities: Blake has the ability to absorb light from nearby sources and control it. He can even use it to create solid constructs of light. When he absorbs light from smaller sources such as a fire or light bulb, the light will go out. He can store the energy from the light in his body until he needs to utilize it.
Weaknesses: Because of his abilities, he can become overloaded if he's electrocuted. Even getting shocked can cause vertigo.
Limitations: Blake puts out lights that he absorbs so if indoors he could run out of light fast if he's not careful. The moon and stars provide very little light and therefore he's much less powerful if stuck outside at night. If it's cloudy, his powers are also weakened because of a lack of light. And if he's in a pitch black room or it's a cloudy night, he could be left powerless. Another minor detail is that if it's dark and he has a lot of light stored in him, he glows very faintly but enough that an enemy could probably make him out in the dark.
Past: He had a good childhood. He was an only child with loving parents. He didn't discover his abilities until he was 16. His parents didn't like him to use them and he got in big trouble when he was caught. He always felt like his parent's were both disgusted by his powers, but they also feared his powers because they didn't understand them. He would always practice his powers when he could. When he turned 18 he left for Prulose Labs for multiple reasons: fear of being taken anyway, curiosity about the institution, and the desire to master his abilities.
Personality: Blake was an only child and a very shy one at that, a trait he's retained. He had very few close friends and hated meeting new people all throughout his younger years. That's not to say he's a loner. But Blake would rather just listen that speak. He normally doesn't speak unless spoken to. He was very good in school (though not the best). He's bad at communicating with others but has a soft spot for animals. When he cares about something, Blake can be not only extremely passionate but obsessive. His passion can manifest in the form of rage, which he showed his parents when he lashed out at them and fled to Prulose.

Weaknesses: Using her power to much exhausts her and she can't use it if she feels to many emotions at once. She can't use her powers without being somewhere that has light in it.

Limitations: she can't use it if she feels to many emotions at once.

Past: Alissa was raised by her mother because her father died a few days before she was born. She was rich and had a nice life, she was not a rich brat, and then when she was 6 her mother died. She ran away from the orphanage and lived by herself for many years until she was taken to the lab.

Personality: Alissa is very caring and kind. She likes to make friends and help people out. If you are rude to her she will get revenge and can be very aggressive and sassy if you are rude to her. She often blurts out things when she doesn't mean too, usually when she is angry.
