The Prulose Project {Literate RP Thread}

Prulose Labs, started in 1996, aims to help people with abilities master and control those powers. They house themselves just outside of Seattle and maintain a large structure above ground for all staff to sleep with small labs on the lowest floor and sleeping quarters above, but an even larger structure below, rumored to have people with abilities trapped deep within. Surrounded on all sides by electric fences that are designed to keep people with abilities in the grounds little else is known.

You are someone born with a genetic mutation that gifted you with incredible abilities. Taken to Prulose Labs, willingly or not, and stored there for observation on how these abilities work, how they can be contained, your limits, your weaknesses, and how to stop them.

But Prulose isn't perfect, and this government funded project can only get so much support without showing results.

{Rules}

-No God-Modding, Sues or Power Playing
-Omni powers(excluding omnilingualism), invisibility, mind reading, manipulation of others, shape shifting, immortality, time manipulation, and magic are powers not to be used
-No power limit, but all powers must be related to one another(Someone who has ice manipulation can also take on cold manipulation, or water and vapor manipulation and so forth)
-Don't have everyone on the same three powers, if needed use the Superpower Wiki to find some new ones
-No killing other characters, injury is fine. This includes amongst your own characters.
-Give all characters a fighting chance when fighting, no instant hits
-Keep everything even, I will stop accepting if there are too many of one compared to others(too many on one gender, too many with powers etc.)
-Be literate and post 3+ sentences per post, per character used. Adding on keep in mind caps lock is not needed to express shouting. An exclamation point followed by; they yelled, can suffice.
-Give me a random fact of your character in other
-Not everyone working in the lab is abilityless. There are normal people working and it is encouraged to make some normal people
-Nothing past crushes
-Stick with the personality you give your character, it grows annoying when people set them up one way and go a different direction with their character
-Keep all others involved, don't ignore characters. Adding on, don’t get more than ten posts between you and another if no one else is active.
-Keep drama to a minimum, so no obsessive yelling and getting mad st others for little reason, and don't use major plots or major changes without my permission. Escape would qualify under this as would taking over Prulose labs.
-Follow all forum rules
-Subjects have preassigned clothing. Staff must follow a semi-formal to formal attitude when dressing for work
-No swearing, even if you star it out, don't do it.
-Weaknesses are your characters kryptonite, limitations are how long and how far their powers can last. Weaknesses are not needed for simple enhancements(Heightened intelligence, increased agility etc.), but limitations are needed for all.
-If you break any of these rules once you will be warned privately. Twice and I will inform you on the thread. Three times and you will be removed from the RP
-Give me your character's theme song in code

Maxwell stood in the elevator as it brought him down to the lower levels or Prulose labs. He glanced down the rows at all the Subjects they had contained, his face as blank as it always was. He paused as he reached the middle of the hall, flicking on the lights for all of the specially created cells. Glancing at the smooth and unbreakable windows showing the Subjects to the Staff he sighed, it could very well have been him behind one of those.

He shook his head slightly, as he pressed a small button to gently ring out an alarm to wake up the subjects on this floor. Heading back to the elevator to repeat this process for the floor below.

Lily woke up to an alarm and gave a tired yawn. She brushed her blonde hair out of her face and rubbed her eyes. For a brief second she forgot where she was, but it didn't last long. It happened to Lily every once in a while. Standing up, she went to the window cautiously like she did every morning. Lily wondered what today would bring and if this is how she would stay for the rest of her life.

Stella woke up. She got used to being tested on flight, but her other type of power was tested. She looked out to see the same window wondering what will happen next. She longed for freedom, and she longed for an adventure.

Maxwell glanced at the subjects as more and more began to wake up. He paused as he passed the cryogenics lab, hesitating before the entrance before continuing, his conflicting thoughts pushed back.

He went back to the first of the Subject floors, ready to select the first Subject of that day to be tested. He stepped before the cell containing Subject 112266, and opened the wall panel allowing him to control the door and lighting for the cell.

Seika woke up from the alarm, a bit annoyed by the light, but decided to roll with it. She despises the light as she barely saw the sun's harsh life-giving light, and stayed indoors in the dark most of her life.
Even though she may never see the sun again, she felt a bit happy as it means she wouldn't need to go outside, but the light in the room felt much worse than the sun.
Getting out of bed, she examines the window, wondering what will happen next.

Xillian curled up some, covering his ears at the alarm. He opened one eye partly, letting it adjust to the lights that were turned on. Once one eye was adjusted he sat up and opened the other eye. Luckily the lights in his cell were built to be dimer then the other cells, due to his high sensitivity to light.

The harsh lights were annoying her. Stella did her morning things and started to eat the breakfast. She slowly started to eat, glancing at her window like it would free her. She started to drift into her daydreams because life was boring and always the same. Daydreams always accompanied her and gave her hope to escape the cells and testing.

Xillian got off his bed and strolled up to the glass, glancing out at the other people. Well, subjects. He growled a bit at the thought, going over to a corner and sitting down there. He brought a hand up and tugged at one of his curls that dangled in front of his eyes. It looked grayish to him, but only due to not being able to see the color red.

Jasper glanced down the rows of Subjects as food was served into their cells. He shifted as he watched Maxwell hesitate beside the Cryogenics lab on the B2 floor, and Jasper walked away before the older Staff member could catch him staring.

As Maxwell left, Jasper set about to gather the subjects he was to test that day. Or at least the subjects he was to bring to testing. He wasn't of proper rank to test them yet.

He observed the first on his list as Subject 753424, and he quickly walked to go greet the man he would be in charge of for a short while.

Xillian held back a slight yawn, as he had troubles sleeping a good portion of the night. He was used to sleeping during the day, and not the night. At least he was starting to readjust his sleeping schedule. He heard the slight footsteps of someone outside the glass wall and looked up at him. He gave a blank and uninterested stare. He sighed a bit, realizing it was his turn to go first today.

Sorry I've been off, having some issues.

Lily watched as the man walked away from her cell. She walked to her bed and curled into a ball. The girl didn't know what to do. She definitely didn't want to see any of the scientists, but Lily knew they would eventually come. Looking up, Lily wished she could see the sky again. She was tired of being underground. Tired of being tested. Tired of everything. Sitting up, Lily glanced at the glass window that kept her sealed. What she would give for it to disappear.

Stella wished to see the sky for once, even if it means seeing the sun. She want to breathe the freh air again. She wanted to have a normal life. One without testing, just friends. One unlike this, just peace even without her powers. She would give anything for freedom. Looking at the cell and window, she wondered when will it dissappear or what will she give for it to dissappear.

Xillian stared at the man on the other side of the glass still. "So, what kind of testing is it this time?" He asked, wanting to at least be somewhat prepared for what he was going to be forced into this time.

Stella was waiting to be tested. Just like yesterday, like all your life she told herself. She got up and walked around the cell, it was very boring and the same, just like the first time she was locked up.

Maxwell opened the door for Subject 112266, or Lily's, cell as he lowered the lights. Stepping inside quickly he offered a hand. "It is time for us to run a few more tests, and then we can begin training to help you control your abilities." he said.

Jasper shook his head briefly before he shut off Zillian's alarm, and lowered the lights, opening a door so he could step inside.

He smiled, before handing the boy a set of ear plugs and a pair of sun glasses. "I'm not sure how well these will work, but I do know moving from the cell to the testing room can pose a problem every now and then." he said quetly, handing the boy the items as he explained what was going to happen.

"We're gonna be running a few simple tests on the extent of your abilities, and then we're gonna help you to control them better. Shouldn't take all that long."

Xillian nodded, he put the sun glasses on first, then the ear pugs. He stood up and dust off his clothes a bit, letting out another small yawn. He stretched his arms a bit and looked at Jasper. "Well, let's get going then."

Lily cautiously stepped forward. "Oh, ok," she said quietly. She gently took his hand. Lily adverted her eyes shyly. She had been dreading this moment. After a moment, she gathered the courage to quietly ask, "W-what kind of tests? Will they... Hurt?" Her hands began to slightly tremble. Embarrassed, Lily quickly let go of Maxwell's hand. "I'll just... follow you."

Seika then proceeds to eat her food as she waits for somebody to approach her cell. She thought about what's going out on the outside that could be intresting but something that she couldn't join anymore. Regardless, her only option is to wait, and nothing more.

Maxwell shook his head. "The tests will not hurt, don't worry." he said, hoping his smile looked reassuring.

Because in all honesty, they would not hurt. "They're just simple tests, a blood test and one for saliva." he said.

Jasper nodded, hurrying out into the hall. He glanced back at Xillian, watching how the younger boy accepted his offering. Relief had attacked Jasper once the Subject had taken the ear plugs and glasses. He wasn't one to want to cause his Subjects discomfort in their time spent here, so being able to help one was a great relief.

Lily gave a small smile. She began to relax a little. She wasn't sure about the blood test, but she took a deep breathe and nodded, "Ok. Will that be it?" Lily followed Maxwell. Perhaps it won't be that bad, she thought to herself.

Blake woke up in his cell for the first time.

His cell.

The fact that he even had a cell was ridiculous. The shock hadn't worn off. This wasn't supposed to be a prison. And he wasn't supposed to be a test subject. He was angry. Angry about his parents and the situation he was in - the situation they forced him into.

The alarms blaring aggravated him even more. When they finally turned off, he decided to get up. Blake stretched his legs and arms while still in bed. He felt the tension release from him body slightly. For a moment a wave of calm radiated from his spine across his body. He laid in bed a few more minutes.

Finally, Blake got up. He jumped to his feet looked out into the hallway. It was empty and bland. He sighed. Nothing to do and nowhere to go.

Blake focused on his hands. I have some energy still in me, maybe, Blake thought. Suddenly, light appeared just beneath his palms. The light bubbled up through his skin and shone in a beam through his cell light a flashlight. Blake smiled. It was comforting to use his powers. As the pale blue light washed over his face he could feel the warmth. Or maybe that was just his imagination.

Xillian quietly followed after Jasper, glancing at the subjects in the other cells as he passed. He was definitely grateful for the sun glasses, as he could tell the lights outside of his cell were much brighter. He sighed a bit in thought, wondering how he could learn to control his abilities through these tests.

Jasper glanced back to keep an eye on Xillian as the duo traveled towards the testing room on this floor. He stopped for a moment, sliding his ID badge across the small slot to allow access to the testing labs. He stepped to the side as the door slid open, and Jasper gestured for Xillian to enter first.

"That is all it will be." Maxwell assured. "Once that's done you can decide if you want to rest, or go and train to hone your powers more." He said as they reached the testing room and he opened the door.

Stepping to the side as it opened he said, "After you."

Lily nodded and thought about her options. Maybe she would train. After all, Lily herself wasn't comfortable with her powers. Snapping back to reality, Lily walked into the room and gave a polite nod to Maxwell. "So what's first?"

"First we will do the blood test. Of that is fine with you." Maxwell said as he pulled out a chair for Lily to sit in before he moved on to get the rest of the supplies he'd need. Grabbing a packaged syringe and disinfectant and cotton and bandages he waited for Lily.

Lily carefully sat in the chair and made herself comfortable. "Yeah, that's fine," she said quietly. She watched Maxwell gather their supplies and Lily couldn't help felling a bit tense. Taking a deep breath, she extended her arm.
