The age of Molise, now come and long gone, ruled by the Iordi, was a time of peace and security. Tales are told of the merriment and splendor during those days. But the days now passed were not always joyous. Yet still generations of nostalgia wash clean the fears of old.

In the years following the departure of the Iordi from the continent of Pereci, callow misjudgment led to malignancy between and within differing peoples. The civil strife that ensued resulted in the allowance of a dark magician and necromancer to take power. This magician was known as Aldroche di Scune. Aldroche, through a power not before exhibited by any save the Iordi, constructed himself a fortress in the center of Valinbosce, the forest called by Men "Deepwood".

In the center of this fortress, Aldroche constructed of a tall tower whose top peaks above the trees. Atop the peak, Aldroche placed a Lamene.

The Lamene - once a marvel of magic and engineering closely guarded by the Iordi - were glass orbs engineered of all sizes so as to contain the very essence of magic. The nature of their being was to enhance the magic of nearby wizards and as such they were frequently created in smaller sizes so as to enhance mobility during combat.

Unlike others, Aldroche valued power over all else. He created a Lamene of unbelievable size and filled it with his own magic in quantities even the Iordi had never seen. With armies of undead at his fingertips, Aldroche seemed unbeatable.

But the Wood Elves, known as Boscerini, heard of Aldroche's Lamene in the twitter of birds. His weakness exposed, the newly formed kingdoms banded together. Yet Aldroche found a path to victory still, to turn his enemies against each other. And so, of anyone within his reach, Aldroche turned the Dwarves to Goblins, the Men to Orcs, and the Elves to Dark Elves, now calling themselves the Dunerini. And by corrupting their minds he set a rift between the southern half of the Perecian peninsula and the northern corrupted half.

But the Iordi, despite their departure, still had attachment to the world they created and refused to see it destroyed. They created those known as the twelve heroes, and bestowed them with abilities stronger than even Aldroche could resist. The twelve heroes destroyed his Lamene, which had so much of his own power in it that when it was destroyed, his body was consumed in the explosion. The twelve heroes were regarded as such - heroes, and the land of Pereci was divided into twelve kingdoms distributed to the heroes. But Aldroche's soul was too powerful to be killed. He was merely vanquished to the lands outside of Pereci.

North of the Sumeriano Mountains lay the Fields of Cenermo, whose lands burn in the raging wildfire of the first flame. Popular myth states that when the fires go out, Aldroche will return to his original power. Ages ago, once a decade one champion from each of the twelve kingdoms would be chosen to represent one of the original twelve heroes. And these twelve champions would travel to Fields of Cenermo to check that wildfires still burned, or to finish Aldroche once and for all. The fires never stopped burning. Many thought they never would, and, as time wore on, none took the journey any longer.

But centuries later, the time of peace between the twelve kingdoms is drawing to a close. Old, animus (and quite frankly - racist) opinions are being brought back, especially between the corrupted races and uncorrupted (who, to the enmity of the corrupted, have taken to calling themselves pure). And as the twelve kingdoms naively argue amongst each other, a threat older than the kingdoms themselves is soon returning. The flames are growing ever dimmer, and the peoples of Pereci will have to decide their own fate: will they stand together against a common enemy, or will they watch each other burn?
