A New Year at Hogwarts {Semi-Literate RP-Thread}

Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, opens its doors yet again to a wave of new students. The last threat of the Dark Lord has long since been erased and things are flourishing. For now at least, but Hogwarts still has many secrets to be revealed. And some are not as pleasant as one might want it to be.

You have received your letter in the mail inviting you to Hogwarts for your first year including a list of all necessary items.

- No Sue's, God-Modding or Power Playing
- Do not be related to canon families
- Be literate, includes obsessive caps lock and over use of puncuation
- Try to post 3+ sentences per character used in each post
- No overuse of drama-includes screaming for no reason-and no unapproved plots
- All EggCave rules apply
- Keep genders and house numbers even, or try to for the latter, I will stop accepting if there's too many in one house
- Give me your characters favorite Hogwarts subject in other
- All characters are First Years to begin with
- No animagi, but half-breeds, metamorphmagus, parselmouths and werewolves characters are fine in small numbers, and only with my approval
- First years are not on the quidditch team, no exceptions
- Should go without saying since they're all First years, but age is replaced by birth date because all First Years are 11
- Keep things realistic for the HP World
- If you can't decide a house for your character when making the form, it is fine to wait until the sorting ceremony to give them one. But make sure you edit it into your form.
- Include everyone, and don't get more than 5 posts between two people
- Don't unnecessarily post for pages between just you and another character, wait for others to join in as well
- Only pets used are the ones listed on the letter, I don't want things getting out of hand
- Give me your characters theme song in code if you have read and understood all the rules

Aura's tail is very fluffy like a squirrel's and she likes to perch on her hind legs to look at things similarly to a meer cat. In addition to her quirks of forgetting how to cat, when she's outside she doesn't hunt but rather eats grass. Rika calls her a Squimeeroat

Stella had just recently got into Diagon Alley through the wall, and had already bought her cauldron, robes and books. And was on her way to Ollivander's, when she was inside she heard Mr. Ollivander's greet her "Ah, Another first year has come for their wand. Her try this one, Ash wood, 9 inches, Dragon heartstring." Stella waved it and a pot exploded "Ah, Maybe this one? Cherry wood, 9 inches, unicorn hair core." He passed it to her and she waved it, it was like an explosion of light blinding her. "Yes that's the one" Stella paid and walked back out into Diagon Alley and went towards the shop with owl's and pets all inside, she knew she wanted an owl but loved the mysterious black cat. So she bought him and named him Mystery.

An hour later she was finished shopping and she went to buy an Icecream.

Kamarah strode confidently down Diagon Ally. Her books, cauldron and robes were carried by the servant who walked behind her. She headed to Ollivander's to pick up her wand.
Ollivander's was damp and dusty. Kamarah sneered in disgust and brushed off the mothballs that clung to her skirt. An old man, presumably Ollivander was talking to some girl around her age. When she left, Kamarah went up to the wand maker. "I need a wand for Hogwarts," she said. "Hmmm..try this," Ollivander murmured. He held out a 8 inch Cherry Wood, unicorn hair. Kamarah picked it up cautiously and waved it in the air. She zapped the floor and a giant hole appeared. "This one then," Ollivander held out a 10 inch Elder Wood, Ice Phoenix feather. Kamarah grinned and waved it around. A green burst of light exploded from the tip. "This one." Kamarah was blinded by the bright light when she exited Ollivander's. She shook her head and walked to the Pet shop. Varieties of owls, toads, and cats were in the large windows. Kamarah stepped inside, and gasped. She looked around and finally found a tiny Sarwhet. "He's perfect," she smiled. Her servant paid for it and they came out of the shop.

Celestia dragged her cousin Marco down the Diagon Alley. They just got their robes, books, and cauldron. She was just dragging him from the broomsticks that he wanted to buy. "Your father doesn't want you to get hurt, and besides, the schools not going to let you." She whispered into his ear. She strode Ollivander's confidently with her cousin besides her.
She waited till the other girl was done until she walked up to Ollivander. "Another first year," Ollivander muttered. Celestia nodded. "Try this," he said holding out. "Cherry, Phoenix feather. As soon as she waved it, she damaged the floor pretty badly. "Sorry," Celestia quickly said. "It's fine," he said waving. "Try this. Elder with Phoenix feather. As soon as she waved, she felt warmth reach her hand as green light shot out. "This seems to be the one," Celestia said happily. She paid for it and said she would meet him at the Pet Shop. She picked out a snowy white owl and named it Snowy.

Marco walked into the shop with his cousin. He only just wanted to try he thought to himself. He waited for her to finish, then it was his turn. Ollivander without a word, handed him a wand. "Oak and Unicon hair." He said. He tried it, green light and a nice warmth to his hand. "This seems to be the one," he said paying for it. Then he exited the shop to go to the Pet Shop. His cousin already got a snowy white owl and owl food. He went inside and got a pretty golden owl and named it Sunny. He got food and paid for it, then they went to a ice cream shop.

Aysel skipped excitedly along Diagon Alley. She rarely got to spend time with all of her siblings at once. Aibek, her older brother lead the group, while Luna with her gorgeous amber eyes trailed not too far behind. Naturally, Stephen was following Luna like a little puppy. Aysel and little Kim walked side by side. Aysel smiled, her younger sister's brown eyes were big and round from excitement.

The group stopped for a moment and to Aysel's disappointment, decided to split up to get things done faster. Aibek, Kim, and Luna, decide to group together, while Aysel and Stephen went their separate ways. Her and Stephen were in the same year, Aibek had reasoned, so it'd be easier. Aysel hated that he was right. At least he had promised ice cream when they met together again..


Stephan sighed, disappointed that Luna actually agreed to Aibek's plan. He eyed his over-energetic sister Aysel, as they made their way to the first shop; Flourish and Blott's bookstore.

The door opened with a small ding.The strong smell of new parchment hung in the air, taking him by surprise. Stephen felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of books on the shelves.

"The Standard Book of Spells, A History of Magic, Magical Theory..." Aysel read outloud. "There's so many books! Do they really expect us to read all of them?"

"I dunno.. " Stephen answered. He checked his own list just to be safe. Sure enough, his list mirrored Aysel's. It was going to be a long day.

Atlas Hall

Atlas crossed his arms over his chest and sighed loudly. It was shopping for magic items, but it was still shopping. "Come on," his mother called. Atlas grumbled and followed Enalamene. His bratty "stepsister" was rambling off to his mom. Raina, from her straight blonde hair to her Mary Janes was annoying. They entered Ollivander's wand shop. Ollivander welcomed them warmly. Atlas searched the wands while his mom and Raina talked to the shopkeeper. He picked up a 11 inch, Oak wood, rok (large eagle) feather wand. Atlas slashed it in the air. Fire burst from the tip and blew up a shelf. Whoops he thought. Ollivander handed him a 10 inch Elder wood, griffin feather wand. Golden light circled him as he zapped the floor. "Cool," he murmured. " Last stop: The Pet Shop. " Enalamene said checking the list. She smiled, knowing Atlas hated this. Raina scowled and marched out of the shop. The pet shop was spacious and filled of various animals. Atlas chose a muscular chestnut-colored cat. "What will you name him?" Raina asked. Atlas grinned, "Eagle." Raina sniffed and lifted her head superiorly. "Huh, Well when I went to Hogwarts I named my cat, Raice, after my famous dad." Atlas rolled his eyes, he couldn't wait to get away from his family.

Stella walked around Diagon Alley looking every shop, holding her cauldron which was filled with books. Her dad carried her robes in his bag, her wand was in her bag and Mystery at her feet following her everywhere she went. She saw a broom but she knew that first years weren't allowed their own broom sticks so she walked past, watching tons of first years pass her on their way to Ollivander's

Zanna paused as she and her mother stepped into Diagon Alley, having used the wall behind The Leaky Cauldron they were given a decent view of all the stores.

"Now remember, you don't need books or a pet, you can get your cousins previous copies." Her mother was saying, "I do recommend you start with a cauldron first and get your robes fitted. Seems like a number of people are already heading for wands first off." Her mother was explaining as the duo headed off towards the stores. "I'll go to Gringotts and pick up some money, I think you'd be good looking through cauldrons for now. I should be back soon."

And with that Zanna was left alone in Diagonal Alley. She slid past numerous people and ducked past others who were flaunting their possessions. She bumped into a few people as she moved against the grain of people.

Mark looked at his father. He accidentally broke a glass vase and he was looking sternly at him. Celestia was the same. "Sorry," he mumbled to the person owning it.

"How do you always get in trouble." Celestia said annoyed. She let's out a sigh and asked Marco's father to go explore. Truthfully, she never called him uncle. Instead she just calls him Marco's father. "Yes Celestia. Bring Marco with you." He said. Celestia wanted to roll her eyes but fought the urge to do so. "Yes." She said dragging Marco with her. "I'm younger and I act like your older sister. How?" She said when her uncle was out of earshot. Marco just grinned mischievously. She ignored the grin and studied the older Hogwarts students as they bought they're books. She bought some Chocolate Frogs with the leftover money and started to eat it. Marco stole one when she wasn't looking.

Stella was done with her browsing and bought some every flavour jelly beans before heading to her mum ''Got everything Stella?'' her mum said smiling ''Yes, all the books, a quill, the cauldron, a wand, the robes, a pet cat and some every flavour jelly beans'' She explained. ''You have a good memory! And I'm sure the jelly beans weren't on the list but still, a treat for when your on the train'' Her dad said coming up to her and taking a jelly bean from the box ''Ah.. Earwax...'' Stella laughed at her father and started walking towards the station ready.

Celestia bought more treats while Marco was admiring the new broomsticks. She only promised him he could see them if he didn't eat her treats. She sigh as she looked to see her uncle coming to them. "Time to go." He said. "And please don't make too much trouble." He eyed Marco and winked at her. "Yes. He is in good hands." She said.

Jackson stepped into Diagon Alley, glancing at the Witch who had taken to escorting him here and through the shopping process. A young woman who called herself Lightfield, who in all honesty bore a startling resemblance to Jackson.

"So, your mother she left you a decent sum of money to get you through your first year until you can meet up." Lightfield was explaining. "We can stop by Gringotts and get a bit of what you have before I set you loose to get all your stuff. I'm sure your mum wouldn't be too happy to know I let you get your money on your own. But of course, my sister was never really happy with a lot of things I did." she said, her face falling a bit.

"Regardless," she said now, perking up again. "Let's head out. We got a bit of shopping to do."

Rika half ran-half skipped through the crowded streets of Diagon Alley, uncontainable energy emitting off of her. Her eyes seemed to take everything in aside from the bustle of people and she found herself lost in awe before bumping into someone, apologizing, going back to window-shopping while walking, repeat. Rika's attention was once again stolen by the peculiar shops of Diagon Alley and she rushed toward a store sporting owls, cats, and other creatures.

"Ko, Ko, get over here, quick!!" She squealed and rushed forward, examining the animals. "Oh please, can we get one?"

"Later, Rika," he eased, glancing back to their parents who were strolling behind them, arms linked, and smiles on their faces as they watched their children zoom ahead. "We need to save the heavier and more troublesome things for last. Let's get our robes and wands first."

"Okay..." Rika held out a hand to the shop as they departed and Koichi heard her dramatically part from the animals. "Goodbye, my friends, I'll return soon!"

He just sighed and said something under his breath, used to his sister's melodrama.

30 minutes later they both had their first-year robes and wands. Pine, 11 inch one for Rika made with White River Monster Spine- Which Koichi though was fitting, that mouthful of a name for a talkative person like his sister- and a 13 inch Cherry with Dragon Heartstring for him.


(So I realized the rules say first years only but I had been imagining Koichi being a 4th year xP In my post I put him as a first-year to comply and I don't mind having them as faternal twins or something, but if it's okay with you if he's a fourth year? Totally fine if not. =] )

@hidenshadow Oh, I didn't notice I'm sorry. And the idea was that they're all first years to avoid unnecessary confusion when it came to classes, books and such.

Jackson and Lightfield, having gathered all the books and various other equipment he needed as well as his robes and a few other clothing items listed, headed off towards Olivanders. They stopped just outside the store as it could be seen that a duo of first years were currently inside.

"Best not to disturb them when they're getting a wand. Tends to be a bit bad if you do." Lightfield was saying as she lead Jackson off to the pet store.

"Consider this my gift to you." she said as the duo entered. "You can grab a wand after this don't worry."

Sure enough, after a Siamese Cat was purchased Olivander's was now free to enter.

About ten minutes later Jackson was passing a girl accompanied by a very familiar looking woman, as he tucked his new Vine and Thunderbird tail feather want into his pockets.

Zanna entered Olivanders, passing a boy who was being showed around by her aunt. She shrugged knowing her aunt tended to help out muggle-borns and half-bloods who wouldn't have access to the alley otherwise.

She left her mother holding her bags as she slid into the mildly stuffy wand store.

A wary eye looked up from the desk as Olivander's new assistant ushered the man into the back of the store, muttering something about him needing a break in his age.

"Greetings miss." the new face said, beaming behind his slightly crooked glasses. "I take you're it a first year?"

Zanna nodded, a little taken aback by all the wand boxes she could see. "Yes I am" she added, noting that the boy was no longer looking near her.

He vanished at her words and returned with a few boxes, and held one out to her.

"Mahogany and phoenix feather core." he said holding it out. "Simply wave it," he directed as Zanna took the wand.

A few seconds later a puff of smoke erupted from the tip of the wand. The assistant frowned before he removed another box from the stack, taking the wand Zanna just used and swapping it for the new one.

"Apple and unicorn tail core."

The result of this wand ended with a set of empty boxes being lit in flames and another frown from the assistant.

This process, much to Zanna's and most likely the poor assisntant's disdain, lasted through rows of boxes.

Finally the boy returned from a few minutes of searching, with a wary look on his face and a dusty box that looked like it hadn't been opened since the Dark Lord was a first year.

"Try this one, Olivander said it might work best. Although you've tried wands with the same wood and before, so I'm skeptical if you are even fit for a wand." he said, a glare in his eyes.

Zanna took the wand, studying it.

"Elder wood and horned serpent horn." the assistant said, ducking behind a wall as Zanna waved the wand.

She was met with a wall of light, and a feeling on near completion as she did so.

"I think we have found it." the assistant noted.

Stella said to her parents "We're done!" She looked at her watch. "We better get home, get everything in order." Her parents agreed and went home?

The streets bustled with wizards, witches, and other strange looking creatures. Stephan and Aysel slipped slowly through the crowd, holding a pile of books each. A house elf scurried by, ducking under their legs and disappearing back into the crowd.

"Ooh!" Aysel squealed, tugging Stephen's sleeve. He stopped and raised a eyebrow at her questionably. "Look at the new brooms!" She pointed to a glass display window surrounded by other bug eyed wizards.

"First years can't have broomsticks," he said wistfully.

"That doesn't stop us from looking at them! Pleease?" Aysel pleaded, jumping from foot to foot excitedly. Stephen rolled his eyes. He hated to admit it, but he wanted to see them as much as Aysel did.

"Fine," he said after a pause, letting Aysel lead him to the display window. "But we go to Olivander's straight after this."

Rika and Koichi made short work of getting the rest of their needed materials, glad to save the heaviest for last.

"Ugghhh, can you imagining getting books first and carrying them everywhere? This is a nightmare!"

Koichi glanced over to his struggling sister and a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. They'd both be relieved when they got back to the carriage and went home to pack all their things for the train.

Koichi turned to his parents, "Is there somewhere we could put these before going into the Magical Menagerie?"

"Here, I'll hold onto them." their dad smiled and then faltered as both of his children eagerly dumped their loads on him.

"Dear, are you okay?" Laurel, their mother inquired worried and Breton just nodded.

"You children go hurry up now!" they didn't need to be told twice. Reassuring his wife, "I'm fine, I'm fine."

Koichi went straight towards the owls when he walked in, and fought off Rika who wanted to show him all the cats. A tawny brown owl with ear-like feathers similar to a great horned owl and stripes running along its sides appraised him with wary eyes. The tag below it read "Eurasian Eagle Owl - Female" and Koichi held out a hand. He liked the sound of an eagle owl.

Rika was doing her best not to squeal and frighten the cats as she bounced up and down next to a basket of younger cats, most likely at the end of kittenhood. They all were sleeping until one, a white short-hair with black patches kicked another's face. Then the five were soon wrestling. A longhair full black kitten meowed in protest and swatted at some of the others before pushing it's way away and jumping out of the basket with the aid of a gray one's face. The black cat's eyes met Rika's and purred as she reached out a gentle hand to pet it. This was the one.


(sorry, I don't really know how to get my characters to interact with any others yet...will that come more on the train?)

It is now 10:00 in the morning on September 1st. Everyone should be heading to King's Cross to get on the train.

Celestia woke at 7 in the morning to get dressed and finish packing up for her and Marco since he was sleeping. When she finished, she made breakfast for them since she awoke first. After the breakfast, they headed to King's Cros station and got there at 9:30. Just in time she thought.

Stella had woken up at 6:30 am that morning to make sure she had got everything ready. By time she got to the station, her mum driving it was 9:15. But she then realised Mystery was nowhere to be seen, she called out his name and as if out of nowhere Mystery walked out of the shadows and into her arms. Then there was just one thing to do, wait.


(Sorry I haven't been rping guys :c I am back now and hopefully that was ok, the train leaves at 11:00 right? idek)
