My poem: Springtime

I've tried to build a nest
An artificial best!

But I looked outside on the grass
To see the light clear as glass

And seeing the eggs
And some little legs

Poking out of the nesting feather
I'm glad there isn't bad weather!

For these little things need a break
But there was a cat and his goal was to take

Take the little birds
Without saying any words

It climbed up the tree
As far as I could see

I could tell it was a hummingbirds chicks
The cat was as close as a candle wick!

But what's that loud song?
Its warcry like and very long

Its mother at last
Where was she in the past?!

She took a dive
To keep her chicks alive

See was driving the cat away
That was all today!

The thing ran away, that darn pesky cat!
Oh wait what's that?

The mother settled in with your young
And then licked around her tongue

And on a flower
Held her power

That's what she used to drive away the cat
All the way back.
