Of how many times I get screwed in the thief shop...I'm at 5 so far...I'm not sure why I bother, though. Is there some trick to it, or is it truly random whether or not the eggs are worth buying?

Also, in my first couple of weeks on eggcave, I saw several eggs in the thief shop appear for like 500k. I have to say, in all honesty, if I spent 500k in the thief shop and got a dud, I'd probably quit altogether... it's hard enough to make ec on this site without risking carpal tunnel in the process LMAO

It's totally random.

I've currently gambled 1,923,729 EC over 7 dud eggs for my next creature, with the lowest being 25K and the current highest over 600K. I keep a tally on Weft's profile and then transfer it over when I finally strike the jackpot.

It cost me 1,768,766 EC over 13 eggs to get Brillea the Gamaeso.

When I got the Gamaeso there was another egg I grabbed after for 475K, which was a dud. Then a couple of hours later I got a Artemiane for 575K (Total of 1,051,802 EC).

Currently my expenditures are random auctions I bid on (mainly for release day creatures or pretty items), SARC donations, and the Thief shop. I only started seriously stalking the TS once I had a safety net of EC that is my "rainy day" fund. Also for some reason I feel less guilty about the dud eggs if I refer to it as EC I've gambled at the TS rather than EC I've spent. I'm prepared to lose when I gamble, but I expect something in return if I spend.

@minnie298a This is good info to know, thank you! I think once I've been here longer and save up more, I won't be as annoyed with the TS as I have been. I'm trying to buy eggs on the cheaper side when I see them- it's definitely a worthwhile investment in my mind, but as someone who's only been here a couple months, 500k on a potential dud is painnnnnful for me lol

I think I will definitely try to keep track of my TS egg attempts now, though. It'll be good to have an accurate look at the spending like you do!

Curiosity made me start keeping track. My first Dud was almost 540K and I think was this time last year.

From memory I didn't really start saving much until I got a Leaf of Vaka and the Click Exchange was introduced. I had a month of real life being quiet and managed to win the 500cc to buy the leaf through the November Gobbler event, around the time that it was released. I don't really interact with people, so mainly feed my own creatures and relied on Tim's before obtaining it. Hoarding some creatures can also be worth it, but it's a long term investment that may not pay off. For the record I probably would have held on to the Venafera I traded you until next year before auctioning it. But I also understand the importance of dates, so will trade my spares whenever for searches like that.

With an episode of insomnia last night I made about 250k over about 3 hours, just by feeding at the exchange. However I've also just spent a fortnight relying on slow internet with my tablet and found the exchange frustrating in context to using the desktop.
