Long ago, the world was peaceful. Far from magic, far from creatures created by it. Most habitants were grateful for their world, except one species. Humans. They hunted other creatures, even themselves, for sport, they destroyed the homes of other creatures and the plants there, they ruined their planet then complained about the pollution. On an island off the coast of a continent they called India, a forest with trees the regular height of 500 feet appeared out of nowhere, a great feat of magic. The first Evertall Forest. Humans discovered it and were amazed. New creatures were found here, ones they didn’t understand. Ones sent from Crea, the Lordess of All Creation, to punish them for their cruelties. Ones that had roamed and terrorized the Earth centuries ago.

The humans attempted to take these creatures into their laboratories, to observe and experiment. Little did they know the dangers of these returned inhabitants. Soon monstrous creatures flooded the oceans, stormed the skies, and wreaked havoc on the floors of the Earth. They invaded the planet, driving back the tattered remains of the human race to hide behind an advanced-technology dome. This dome surrounded twenty miles around the Great Wall of China and was made of inflammable graphene, and the only way in or out were the Gates, which were made of wired graphene and armed by the only tamed Sphinx. Crea added beautiful and peaceful magical creatures to the Earth, but only to be discovered if humans dared venture outside of The Dome. The Dome is located not far from the largest Evertall forest, and on the opposite side of that forest resides the Dragon Weyrs of Sorona.

Of these Weyrs there are the Dark Weyr, made of Dark Psychics, who shares the mountains of Sorona with the Light Weyr, made of Light Psychics, the Gem Weyr, who lives in the mountain cove, Frozen Weyr, made of Cold Dragons, who shares a smaller Evertall forest with the Flame Weyr, made of Fire Dragons, the Ravine Weyr, made of Water Dragons, who lives in the ravine surrounding the smaller Evertall forest, and the Nature Weyr, made of Fauna Dragons and Flora Dragons, who lives in the fields of Sorona. There used to be another Weyr, the Fae Weyr, made of Fae Dragons, who shared the fields with the Nature Weyr, but they grew tired of the bickering between the Weyrs and moved back to their previous homes among pixies.

It all started with two young dragons. Pyrotol, a Fire drake, and Sorona, a Light Psychic drakaina. Their families’ dens weren’t far, and as whelps they played often in the fields near their home. They were happy—until, one day, their families had been snatched by Hunters. They traveled to a new home in a cave in the fields outside the largest Evertall forest, Glory Forest. They fell in love and had two clutches. Out of these clutches eight survived: Solar Sky, Night Sky, Leaves, Scorch, Frost, Bubbles, Sea, and Moon. Moon was the first Seer Psychic, a Psychic Dragon with the ability to foretell the future. She was considered an all-powerful Queen and became a religious symbol. She decreed the founders of the Weyrs, and under her rule, Frost became the founder of the Frozen Weyr and Scorch became the founder of the Flame Weyr. Bubbles and Leaves’ former group leaders, Stormy Sky and Vines, became founders as well—Stormy Sky became the founder of the Ravine Weyr and Vines became the co-founder of the Nature Weyr, partner to Antlers. Others formerly led by Stormy Sky and Vines became founders, as well; Ruby, founder of the Gem Weyr, Flutter, founder of the Fae Weyr, Hope, co-founder of the Psychic Weyr, and Shade, co-founder of the Psychic Weyr.

In the Psychic Weyr another Seer Psychic was born. After this Moon decreed that any Seer Psychic be sent to her den atop the mountains to be raised and trained by her. Unfortunately, death takes all, but after she passed, the second-born Seer Psychic, Moonlight, became the next Seer Queen, and a long line followed after her. Through countless turmoil that ended many traditions, such as the Departure of the Fae Weyr, the Separation of the Psychic Weyr, and more, this tradition remained.

Until now.

Crea has discovered the Seer Psychics, a product of everlasting defiance from the laws of nature she created, and doesn’t like what she sees. Those who share her greatest powers are considered her enemies, and she’ll wipe out an entire race if it destroys those enemies. She’s hunting the Seer Race, and the Weyrs have to make a decision: let their royal race die out, or defy the one thing that controls all life.

A dragon’s age is double the age of a human. They live for up to 200 years, though normal life expectancy is 150 years. Age group guide ~

Egg: 0 - 2 years
Hatchling: 2 - 8 years
Wyrmling: 8 - 12 years
Whelp: 12 - 28 years
Fledgling: 28 - 42 years
Adult: 42 - 122 years
Elder: 122 - 200 years

Dragons come in all colors—but not all sizes. Here’s a size guide, just for visual reference:

Egg size: On average 2”6 feet long, 6 feet wide, & 6 pounds
Female hatchling size: On average 1”4 feet tall, 5 feet long, & 4 pounds
Male hatchling size: On average 2”8 feet tall, 5 feet long, & 5 ½ pounds
Female wyrmling size: On average 12 feet tall, 25 feet long, & 300 pounds
Male wyrmling size: On average 20 feet tall, 25 feet long, & 600 pounds
Female whelp size: On average 18 feet tall, 45 feet long, & 640 pounds
Male whelp size: On average 24 feet tall, 45 feet long, & 1,200 pounds
Female fledgling size: On average 22 feet tall, 65 feet long, & 1,285 pounds
Male fledgling size: On average 28 feet tall, 65 feet long, & 1,850 pounds
Female adult/elder size: On average 26 feet tall, 85 feet long, & 2,570 pounds
Male adult/elder size: On average 30 feet tall, 85 feet long, & 3,000 pounds

However, Faye Dragons are a very small species of dragon, so to find their height and weight, divide the age group average by two.

Dragons generally lay clutches of five to twelve eggs at a time. Of these, half usually hatch, and of those half that hatched, half survive long enough to become an adult. This makes for one to three dragons per clutch that normally survive until they can have offspring of their own. Most Weyr dragons have their first clutch around forty-five years of age, because though they technically can by the age of a fledgling, it's discouraged. A drakaina can only have another clutch eight years later, when her current clutch are wyrmlings. Drakes don't have a certain number of clutches they can sire, but drakainas outside of Soronan Weyrs can raise up to eight or nine clutches in a lifetime, and drakainas inside of Soronan Weyrs can raise up to six or seven clutches in a lifetime. Both drakes and drakainas grow too old for clutches by the age of one-hundred years.

Dragons' diets are immense, due to their immense size. They spend most of their days focusing on what and when they're going to eat. They must eat a meal of at least one large creature, three medium-sized creatures, or ten small creatures thrice a day to sustain themselves. Due to the amount they eat, they spend a good 12 hours through the night sleeping, and two to four hours of the day sleeping, so that the food they eat can digest well.

Dragons can drink both fresh and salt water, though there is a certain amount of salt that will cause the dragon to have an allergic reaction. Their throat and tongue will swell and itch, and they must be treated by swallowing a yarrow plant to cause them to purge, then a marigold plant after they have, or else they won't be able to eat for at least a week, which is very dangerous for their survival.

[color=RebeccaPurple]Dragon Anatomy ~ http://www.draconian.com/body/body.htm

There are ten subspecies of dragons: Water Dragons, who control water and are often a shade of silver or blue, Cold Dragons, who control cold weather and are often a shade of silver or white, Fire Dragons, who control fire, usually through breath, and are often a shade of red, Dark Psychic Dragons, who hold dark magic and are often black or dark purple, Light Psychic Dragons, who hold light magic and are often a shade of silver, white, or light purple, Neutral/Seer Psychic Dragons, who hold both types of magic and see the future, Fauna Dragons, who have a bond with and can understand foreign-lingual creatures, Flora Dragons, who have a bond with and control plants and often wear floral accessories, Faye Dragons, who have a bond with pixies and are considered the dwarf race, and Gem Dragons, who hoard gems, bless items with magic, and bear gems along their scales, often their namesake.

Dragons wings, being made of primarily cartilage, are soft and easily torn, and scales are tough to penetrate but easy to rip off. When a wing rips, it causes serious nerve damage, and can enfeeble a dragon, making it unable to fly. Unless treated properly with a moon of nest rest, a poultice of tormentil, marigold, burdock root, and catchweed, and care towards the inflicted area for the next year, the wing will forever be lame. As for scales, they’re like torn claws. It causes minor nerve damage, and in a way are like head cuts—they bleed profusely, no matter how much the skin or nerve below is actually damaged.

Sometimes your powers leave marks on you. For example, Water Dragons have gills hidden among thinner scales on either side of their cheek, Gem Dragons’ scale are lined with jewels, etc. If you can think of a mark you’d like your dragon to have, maybe a Cold Dragon’s icicle beard or burn marks around a Fire Dragon’s eyes, feel free to add it to their appearance!

| ~ | About the Weyrs | ~ |

As described earlier, there are nine Weyrs: the Frozen Weyr, the Light Weyr, the Dark Weyr, the Ravine Weyr, the Gem Weyr, the Seer Weyr, the Nature Weyr, and the Flame Weyr.

The Frozen Weyr resides in the left side of Dragon Forest, a small Evertall forest. Many of the trees there have frozen trunks and branches, and some don’t even grow leaves anymore, as a byproduct of young fledglings still learning to control their powers. Their lair resides in the center of their territory, surrounded by Ever-Ice River, a river that remains frozen all-year round. In summer and spring the ice is thin and is often broken so that dragons can drink, but in autumn and winter the ice thickens, which causes hydration problems due to it being the only source of water in the territory. The dens are built of stone and meetings are called in the center of the den from a glacier. They hunt elk herds, moose herds, bears, bird of prey flocks, bobcats, anything that passes through their territory. Icicles hang from the trees all year round and during the colder season snow blankets the ground and snowflakes fall around the camp. If you enjoy the cold, it’s quite a beautiful place.

The Flame Weyr resides in the right side of Dragon Forest. Several trees there are bare and burnt as a byproduct of young fledglings still learning to control their powers. Some, however, do bear leaves, which remain red and orange all year for an unknown reason, and acorns scatter the forest floor. Their lair resides in the center of their territory, a scorched hollow in the ground. The earthen walls protect them from intruders. Leaves and acorns litter the ground of the lair, but their attempts to clean them out end in vain, because it’s all returned by the next sunrise. The dens are made of branches, vines, and bracken and the meetings are called from a scorched rock. They eat any large creature that passes through their territory—elk, moose, bears, large birds, bobcats, anything. They often have issues with dehydration due to a dry spell they cause in their territory.

The Ravine Weyr resides in a ravine that surrounds the forest. The Weyr was decreed by Moon to settle issues between the Flame Weyr and the Frozen Weyr that would surely rise often. Their territory includes the stretch of land between the forests and mountains, though they are more often found by the bay of the New Sea, an ocean they created which floods most of eastern Asia, swimming, fishing, or practicing their powers. Their dens reside in hollows in the ravine wall where their lair is set. Puddles cover the territory as a byproduct of young fledglings still learning to control their powers and it rains in their camp often, not that the Water Dragons mind. They eat sharks, whales, dolphins, sea lions, and spider crabs. Often the banks flood, which can endanger young fledglings, sometimes younger fishers get pulled away by the current and disappear, and, though infrequently, some magical sea creatures such as krakens, grindylows, and qalupaliks appear on the shores, but they’re soon taken care of.

The Nature Weyr resides in the fields of Sorona beside the mountains and ravine. Their lair, as expected in the center of their empty plains, is a dome like the humans’, made of vines, bent trees, and other plants entwined and protected by a spell cast by Vines, the co-founder of the Nature Weyr. This lair is guarded by befriended griffons instead of dragons, trained in fighting dragons. The Nature Weyr, as aforementioned, is formed of both Fauna and Flora Dragons, and is the only Weyr in existence that has made an alliance between two types of dragons in the same lair last for more than three dragons' lifetimes. The Nature Weyr also includes the only vegetarian dragons known on Earth. When the Weyr was created, there were issues between the creatures of the fields and the Flora Dragons, who continued to eat creatures despite the fact that the Fauna Dragons had allied with them. In order for the creatures to remain their allies, the Weyr made a deal with all other inhabitants of the fields that they would grow their food from a garden, and that would be the only source of food the dragons would take from. If a single dragon of the Nature Weyr were to eat from a fruit outside of the garden, the deal would be broken. Because of this deal, the Nature Weyr adapted to eating the plants, and are the most caring of the Weyrs for their food. They have strict rules not to play with the food for it is dishonorable both to its spirit and the spirit of the dragon, and they bless the food in thanks for dying so they could live. For these feats the Weyr is greatly respected and renowned among dragons of its kind. Aside from that, their territory is lush and prospering with life--it would almost be considered a forest, if the trees weren't so short-lived. They drink from two small lakes on the east and west corners of their territory.

The Gem Weyr resides in the canyons and valleys between the two mountains. Their lair rests in the cove, where their dens are hollowed out in the stone walls. A cave system is dug through their designated sections of the mountains, straight through the heart of the "jewel settlement," as they call it. Jewels line their nests and fill the corners of their dens, and washed-up shells often become items of sentiment or bear magical properties due to the dragons blessing them with it. Fights often break out in the lair over blessed items as a result of the species being very hotheaded and overprotective over these items, a trait given by Crea to assure they didn't end up in the clutches of one with impure intentions. Due to this the healers keep the most valuable shells and gems, as they will likely be strongest for healing properties. They drink from the sea and fish from it now and then, but more often than not they'll prefer to eat birds of prey, large cats, deer, big-horned sheep, foxes, and coyotes that either live or are stuck in the canyons. Sometimes the ground of the cove will flood, but the water is normally shallow enough to walk in, and if not, the older dragons simply fly over it and the younger dragons stay in their dens. From time to time grindylows appear in the cove, but they are easily dealt with and they've never had much worse, due to the waters being shallower around the cove and Gem Dragons being more stubborn to enter the water than Water Dragons.

The Light Weyr resides in the left mountain of Sorona, also known as Beaming Mount, and their lair is a huge system of caves dug courtesy of the Gem Weyr hidden by a large waterfall, Beaming Falls, which lands in a pool at the foot of the mountain, Shining Lake, and that pool creates a creek, Shimmering Creek, that follows a crooked path all the way to the Gem Weyr's cove. There, Shimmering Creek connects to Shady Creek, which happens to lead all the way to the Dark Weyr's territory. Aside from that, the Light Weyr teaches their dragons to control their powers at a young age, for the sake of the territory and other Weyrs. Training includes harnessing and maintaining these powers, flying, and routes along the mountain. Their diet consists of birds of prey, mountain cats, big-horned sheep, mountain goats, and bears.

The Dark Weyr resides in the right mountain of Sorona, also known as Shadowed Mount, and their lair is a huge system of caves dug courtesy of the Gem Weyr hidden by a large waterfall, Poison Falls, which falls in a pool at the foot of the mountain, Murky Lake, and that pool creates a creek, Shady Creek, that follows a crooked path all the way to the Gem Weyr's cove. There, Shady Creek connects to Shimmering Creek, which happens to lead all the way to the Light Weyr's territory. The Dark Weyr has a harsh way of upbringing their young. Wyrmlings and whelps are punished by a ripped scale for their wrongdoings, and fledglings train through the night for their wrongdoings, and, if what they did was troublesome enough, their meals could be taken from them the next day, which is considered quite cruel considering the demands a dragon's stomach rules.

The Seer Weyr isn't particularly a Weyr, but the home of the royal race, the Seer Psychic Dragons. Led by the Seer Queen/King, wyrmlings, whelps, fledglings, and adults alike find their home in a lair built with rocks and vines upon fallen trees that connect Beaming Mount and Shadowed Mount. Their territory consists only of the mountain tops, but the humble rulers of this "Weyr" claim that it's all they need. They feast at the end of the day with the Weyr they choose, and sometimes will even go a full day without eating, despite the demanding diet of a dragon. They're quite peaceful, and have a code not to harm unless necessary to protect themselves or others. Think of them as Buddhist monks. Everyone who isn't one kind of has an outsider perspective, and is curious, but afraid to poke around in it. But really, they wouldn't do a thing if you did. They don't mind anything, as long as there is peace for their kind. However, the gathering of these Seers can become quite harsh. Each full moon the Seer Queen/King takes her strongest dragons and marches into the lairs of the other Weyrs, then performs tests on the young there to confirm whether they have been experiencing Seer powers. If they have, they are ripped from their nest and taken back to the Seer Weyr's lair, likely never to see their mothers and fathers again. If there are protests, the defiant dragons are quickly hushed, by any means necessary.

This is where the "Weyr" tradition ends in Sorona. But there are more groups close to Sorona: the Faye Pets and the Glory Forest Group. Here's what I can tell you about them:

The Faye Pets are Faye Dragons who are pets to pixies, especially their young. They're small, have fairy-like wings, and have the same timid, docile nature that pixies don't share with other dragons. Of course, they're even smaller upon entering a Faye Village, as every creature is. (For reference, I like to imagine they look similar to Rixes) In Faye Villages, they're the size of a humming bird, which, to a pixie, is like a big dog. Faye Pets are remarkably easy to tame and train, and have a natural fondness for these creatures, as they were made to be like them and to communicate with them. They are usually kept as protective or emotional pets for young pixies, but sometimes they guard shops or are given tasks at shops or other places of work. The toughest are even chosen to join the task force as a police dragon. The most adventurous and skillful are sent out on quests to gather items outside of the village, but often they don't return, since all Faye Dragons have been domesticated in Faye Villages for at least a thousand years.

The Glory Forest Group is a group of fierce dragons that live in Glory Forest and protect the beings there and in Sorona. Though they're not technically allies with any of the Weyrs, they have a personal grudge against Hunters and attack humans on sight, which is a sure explanation on why they haven't been seen around the Weyrs in hundreds of years. The Glory Forest Group is not very picky at all, and will eat about anything that crosses their path. This includes rabbits, elk, bears, birds, fish, mice, fruit, leaves, vegetables, you name it, they'll eat it. They're a ruthless bunch, too, and have many skills and tactics the Weyrs don't, which makes for good ambushes when a young fledgling is foolish enough to cross the border between Sorona and Glory Forest. Ever since their first leaders left to create the Soronan Weyrs, they've been anarchist. Their motto is "A true Weyr should be lead by the body instead of the head."

Now let’s talk about the ranks of the Soronan Weyrs, aside from the Seer Weyr.

Ruler - Being the highest rank, a Ruler leads and guides their Weyr. They make the decisions that they believe best benefit their Weyr, whether it be easy or not.

Ruler’s successor - Its name is very self-explanatory. A ruler’s successor is the second in command of the Weyr they belong to, and helps the ruler with the smaller duties they’ve been tasked. This dragon is chosen by the leader in their fledgling ceremony and trained since then by the leader to proceed them once they're gone.

Healer - The Healer is raised into their career; their entire life focuses on the care of their dragons. They're often considered sacred among the Soronan Weyrs, said to be able to contact the Other World, but this has neither been confirmed, nor denied. The continuation of the Healer line depends on a form of monarchy; each Healer must have a clutch within the first four years they've proceeded the former Healer, otherwise they'll be removed from the position and a new legacy of Healers will begin after they are forced to train a new Healer. Due to this most Healers have several clutches and they are cared for fore than any other dragon in the Weyr by all the Weyr's dragons, to assure that at least one survives long enough to proceed their parent. Healers usually have clutches with others of power, Rulers or ruler's successors, but they don't have to.

Healer's Fledgling - The Healer's fledgling is the future successor to the current Healer, normally their offspring, unless the Healer failed to meet the quota for having their own clutch. Their training takes twice the amount of a normal fledgling's training, which is fourteen years, making their fledglingship last twenty-eight years. During this time they learn to recognize and use hundreds of different herbs, build up confidence in themselves to carry out their career, and learn with experience how to stay level-headed and care for their Weyrmates.

Hunters - Hunters are full-grown dragons trained in the skill of hunting. They are sent in patrols of five thrice a day to hunt, and search until they've caught at least one medium-sized item of prey. For this, they earn the honor of first pick of the food they've brought home. Hunters are usually slim and fit, with long, strong legs for powerful leaps and muscular wings in case they need a boost into the air.

Warriors - Warriors are full-grown dragons trained in the skill of battle. They guard the lair, patrol the borders, and are the primary protectors when a threat enters the territory. They have sworn to lay down their life for the Weyr if the need be, and will follow their duty until their bones grow tired or their end has come. It's said to be the greatest honor a Soronan dragon can receive, to die in battle as a warrior.

[color=Sienna]Fledglings - Fledglings are teenage dragons learning to become either a hunter, a warrior, or a Ruler's successor. Their future is determined through one ceremony, the Coming-of-Age Ceremony, which occurs on a dragon's twenty-eighth birthday.

Hunter fledglings are first taught the terrain of their territory and how to fly by a hunter, their mentor assigned during the Coming-of-Age Ceremony, then they learn how to use their legs and wings in the hunt, how to stalk with silence, tact, and grace, and how to win a struggle when prey puts up a fight. They are tutored in this for fourteen years, then, finally, given their hunter position on their forty-second birthday.

Warrior fledglings are first taught the terrain of their territory and how to fly by a warrior, their mentor assigned during the Coming-of-Age Ceremony, then they learn how to use their claws, fangs, and wings effectively in the heat of battle, how to stun, subdue, and defeat an opponent; how to protect their Weyr at all costs. They are tutored in this for fourteen years, then, finally, given their warrior position on their forty-second birthday.

A Ruler's successor fledgling is trained by the Ruler either immediately after they've taken control or after the previous Ruler's successor has died. They are taught how the terrain of their territory, how to fly, the skills of both a warrior and a hunter, the duties of a Ruler's successor, and, finally, the duties of a Ruler, and this continues for twenty years until they're finally fit to take the title of a Ruler's successor at forty-eight years of age.

[color=Tan]Nursing drakainas - Gravid, egg-nesting, or rearing drakainas are referred to generally as nursing drakainas. These are drakainas that are either carrying eggs, caring for eggs, or raising hatchlings, wyrmlings, or whelps. They reside in the nursery from being a gravid drakaina all the way until their clutch grows into fledglings, which takes twenty-eight years and three full moons; three full moons of carrying eggs (a gravid drakaina), two years of caring for eggs (an egg-nesting drakaina), and twenty-six years of raising their young.

Nursery young - Eggs, hatchlings, wyrmlings, and whelps are referred to generally as nursery young. They remain in the nursery or around the lair, and must follow strict rules not to leave the lair, for their own safety. Wyrmlings and whelps are usually found playing in the lair, while hatchlings snuggle up to their mother for warmth and eggs... just be eggs. Eggs are considered the most innocent of dragons, and must be protected at all costs. An egg-nesting draikana will never leave her eggs. Hatchlings' only job is to develop, until their eyesight, hearing, teeth, walking skills, and etc. have fully developed at the age of eight years. Wyrmlings and whelps are taught in matters of religion, Weyr laws, and respectability, and, depending on the mother, they sometimes will be forced to recite the Weyr laws before they can have their meal. Nursery young's powers are unharnessed and very dangerous. Power outbursts depend on their mood, so you always have to be careful around them. Make a nursery young angry, and you may find yourself in the Healer's den with a broken back and a torn wing.

Elders - Elders are dragons over the age of 122 years old that have retired from their former career. Elder dragons still have the ability to use their powers, but their strength is dwindling and their powers may go out of control when you least expect it. A dragon's worst nightmare is living long enough to retire to this age, for it brings humiliation to yourself to lose control of your powers at such an age.
