I have opened 5 mystery eggs and every time it was fake, I'm new so I don't understand how rare the thief shop eggs are but I was wondering if its normal to get 5 fake ones in a row or am I just unlucky?

I think you have a higher chance if the price of the egg is higher, the max price is around 600k EC and you'll have a high chance to win something. So therefore if you buy cheaper ones, you have a higher chance of a fail 😸

It's all totally random. I've kept records on what each Thief Shop creature costs me, that I transfer to their profile. After a quick glance through, picking out the creatures I know I "won" I have a variety. I know at one stage I was very lucky and there were two eggs in the shop when I rocked up, bought both, and they both contained creatures.

Rough costs of some are:
VIgaJB5 the Cactower cost me 480K, first purchase
TczSBa8a the Foxfly cost 580K, after 2 fails, so total cost was 1.6 mil
Tanby the Sankose cost 112K, after 5 fails, total cost 1.4 mil
Rebbor the Tidnab cost 565K after 12 fails, total cost 5.3 mil
muFW the Artemiane cost 539K after 8 fails, total cost 3.5 mil
Brillea the Gamaeso cost 110K after 12 fails, total cost 1.7 mil
