The most efficient way to get them is to keep refreshing at the adoption center until you see a cave common available to adopt. Going to the actual cave is way more time consuming and each cave try costs CC, so I wouldn't recommend it.

The inventory system was retired years ago. However, to avoid crashing to economy, there was more of a “soft retire” (simply halting all further additions) than a “hard retire” (actually going through the motions of removing it). Because of this, you can only get items by asking other users for them.

Don't answer the Site Trivia. It's a trap. All the answers are trick questions and most of the time there are no right answers. When you give an incorrect answer, Master Zhi will take some creatures from your cove. If you want to get your creatures back, you will have to buy them at the thief shop.
