@linpug
Then why are you here if you don't care? ):
You are a good sister for standing up for your brother. But I know what I'm talking about.

@bubble_girl
Joshua looked over at Flaeq. He trudged over to the stream, bending down in front of it and dipping and hand in. He took in a breath, scooping up some water and splashing it onto the back of his neck and arms and face.

@linpug You didn't HAVE to. Can't he do it himself if he has an account? If it was his problem, he should've confronted, not his sister.

@glados

"Isn't it funny?" Flaeq said grinning. "Its only day 2 and we're down to the last batch of us. Maybe we should juts split up. I really don't want to kill you...just yet."

Now all clean, Flaeq left the pool and Joshua and went back to the last dozen arrows and carved out some new arrows. The longest ones could make spears, Flaeq though. Shooting from a distance would get me home quicker, I suppose.

@bubble_tree
Joshua looked to the side at nothing in particular, his eyes half-closed, and thought to himself. He didn't want to be killed, or kill Evan or Flaeq or the rest of the Tributes.
He sighed, looking around. The call of a mockingjay met his ears, and he figured he was alone now. He'd go get his stuff later. The thought of them being stolen didn't even cross his mind as he stood up, taking his shoes off and wading into the water.

"Cannonball!" Evan yelled jumping face first into the mini waterfall. He had stripped to only his boxers, and was scrubbing the dirt off. When he say Flaeq giggling at him he called over to her, "Don't you look at me! It's not dignified!" Then dove back underwater.

Finally after a few minutes, his head broke the surface of the water. "Bet you thought I died!" He puffed out his scarred chest, "Well no such luck!"

Joshua flinched at the sudden drenching of water because of Evan. He stared indifferently into the water, his hair and clothes dripping. He shrugged, deciding to slide his shirt off. Damp pants didn't bother his much, so he just slipping into the water quietly, instantly calm, like the water took away the anger he had at everything. He smiled widely for the first time in years and began to clean himself off.

@glados: whispers changed Mylio to Claria and @juliettbrown changed Cassandra to Anastasia. Oh and your Onny's name is my little sister's middle name, but with a C. xD

"Why would you run, from the pasture so nice? Where all the meadow is sweet with pine? Do not fret, my young dear, the time is the pasture never moves, as long as your cute face is smiling..." the song faded after the nice women's voice. Flaeq dropped her things when the voice was there. "Mother?" she whispered softly. How could this be, she thought. Mother died when I was a child. There's no way her voice could've been here!

"Do not fret, my young dear, the time in the pasture never moves as long as your cute face is smiling..." the voice said again, in the lady's soft tone.

Evan looked over at Flaeq, who was talking to the air. "Um....Flaeq?" He waved his hand in front of her face, but she didn't see him.

Joshua looked over at Flaeq, confused. He frowned again, turning away and washing the rest of the grime off. He ran his hand through his hair a few times, washing it out before getting back out. He dried himself with his shirt, then put it back on.

Blink after blink, Flaeq was drawn back into her memories with her sweet-singing mother. "Don't fret, my young dear, the time in the pasture never moves as long as your cute face is smiling..." kept on playing itself with every memory that passed by. The earliest she could remember was one where she had a rubber toy ax. Flaeq tried to cut a large tree, wider than herself, and became frustrated and plopped onto her bottom.

That's where the phrase came from. "Don't fret, the time in the pasture never moves as long as your cute face is smiling."

"What?" Flaeq asked, now back into the deadly game she was playing. "Huh, oh nothing." Her face was pale afterwards, sad and distant. "You guys can go on swimming."

From then till night, all she did was watch the boys swim in the pool, with her legs crossed and up to her chest, with her eyebrows knitted and her arrow strung.

It was getting dark out. Joshua had gone into the water a few more times, but soon grew tired of it. He sighed, almost dried off now. He looked down into his belt and reached down out of instinct, but remembered that his knife was still lost out by the tree somewhere. He looked over at Flaeq troublingly, walking on over to her and sitting several feet away from her. Years of living without anyone caring for him had lead him to not care as much about anyone else. Everyone.
Josh glanced over at the girl, raising his knees up and crossing his arms over them, resting his chin on his arms and staying quiet, watching the sky.

Evan was the last to leave the pool, he felt alive in the water. After about an hour he dried off, and got dressed again. "So, any bread coming tonight?" He waited for a few moments, nothing. "I guess not." He rummaged through his pack, and pulled out a ready to heat dinner. He boiled some water, and added it to the bag. Instantly the powder in the bag absorbed the water and became rice and beans. "Awesome!" Evan grabbed the plastic fork that came with it, and dug in.

"Do you know why I became so silent?" Flaeq asked slowly and softly to Joshua. "I'm guessing a song I heard, my mother's song, brought too much emotion." Blinking at the ground, she paused. "I was left alone when I was so young." Another pause. Should I even be telling him this? she asked herself. If it comes to the point he kills me, I don't want to give him an advantage. but she told anyways. Her emotions were to held up.

"Can I tell you something?" she asked.

Evan heard Flaeq and Josh talking, and decided not to interrupt. He silently crawled into his sleeping bag, and fell asleep, snoring louder than usual.

Joshua listened to Flaeq. After she finished talking, he finally looked over at her, his eyes full of curiosity, yet wariness.
"Hmmwhat?" he muttered quietly, leaning against his knees tiredly and then looking at Evan. The food smelled pretty good, yet his stomach just wasn't up to it.

@glados: Okay!

"You know I'm from 7, right?" Flaeq started off. "Well, you look at me now and think I hold a grudge against everything." She gestured to herself. "I wasn't always like this. I use to be...jumpy and lively and wonderful-feeling. But that all changed one day, when I woke up to the silence the air brought. I didn't hear the usual chopping the ax would make from outside."

She paused and look up. The stars will still bright, but somehow they seemed faint when Flaeq spoke, as if her sadness traveled the light years to them.

"I didn't know much at the time, but I knew just as much to know my parents weren't home at the usual hour. We had a door in the front of the house. It had a nice big glass window on top. And...there was blood splattered on it..." Her tone changed from there, to a cracked, helpless, little-girl voice.

"I knew my parents always killed something in front of the door. I opened it and found the blood not only stained upon the glass but the entire door itself. An unfamiliar ax was wedged in the door..."

As Joshua listened to her story, his expression became more and more sympathetic for her. He could almost relate in the same way...
He shook his head, tilting his head so that his cheek was resting on his arms now. He shut his eyes, acknowledging her sometimes as she spoke with grunts and "mhmm's.

@glados
"And so, because it was routine, I cleaned up the blood and pulled out the ax. It was so heavy," Flaeq said, shaking her head. I went down to the village the next day, all by myself. I still didn't get why my parents weren't home yet. Everyone there was grieving so hard, picking me up and squeezing me tight.

It was that morning that I found out my parents were murdered, by a deranged lumber jack. They were dismembered, bit by bit." A shudder went through her while she closed her eyes. Then her face turned to anger, her hands balling to fists.

"After that, I ran back to my house in the woods and huddled under the covers in my bed. I was crying, but a little while after, I told my self not to cry. I had to be strong.

"I isolated myself in that cabin until when I was 11, my Aunt Mayz brought me to District 4, saying I couldn't isolate myself when the reapings were the next year. So then I moved to 4. I learned to fish. I did everything a Career from there would do. but I still felt strong. I always had this picture with me to keep my spirit where it was."

Flaeq took out a small, black and white picture of her family from her pants pocket. She was smiling proudly in the center, between her parents.

Joshua opened his eyes again. He looked at the photograph, uncrossing his arms so that he could lean over to get a better look. He frowned, looking from the little girl to Dlaeq and back to the photo.
"Looks like you," he said quietly. He waited a few moments. Then, "Sorry." He looked into the darkness. "About your parents, I mean."

"Well, it is me. Just a softer version." Flaeq turned away carefully folded the picture. They kept quiet afterwards, just staring up at the sky.
