So I just joined and have a few questions....

How do I hatch my eggs?

Is there a limit to how many pets I can adopt?

Is changing pet color/species possible?

But to answer your specific questions:
1) It kind of depends. Each creature has 3 stats. Feed, View and Click. Each species uses one of those stats to evolve, and the amount will also depend on the species. For example your profile creature, the Pabassa evolves with clicks (when someone opens your pets profile), with the initial hatching happening at 150 clicks.

You can see the requirements for most creatures in the Achieves, either through the Explore drop down menu in the header, or through clicking the species name on a profile. You can also see what your creatures need via the Your Cove page, either through the "Creatures" box on the information panel to the right or at the bottom of the page (depending on your device and layout). The requires number will be in blue next to one of the stats.

2) There is but there isn't. You get a set amount of "Free" spaces when you create an account. After that you can purchase extra spaces. The first space is 200ec, and it grows by 200 each purchase. So the second space is 400, the third 600 etc. Personally, I'm looking at 182,200 for space 1411, and my cove isn't the largest by a long shot. So, as far as I know you are limited, but only by what you want or can spend.

3) Sorry, but no. The only changes to a creature are then growing up via the evolution path for that species. You can pay CC (CaveCash, the currency bought with real life money) to change the gender, but there is also no visual difference in genders, and you can not breed your creatures.

Side note on the stats: Levels are determined via a combination of all the stats. So (Feeds+Views+Clicks) / 300 = Level (rounded up). Once a creature reaches level 20 it is immortal and can not die.

And, Yes, creatures can die if their happiness level gets too low for too long. The easiest way to increase happiness is by feeding.

I checked the newbie guide and they said something about a cove limit of 500 pets? A bit confused by what that means.....

What you read on the newbie guide means that every user starts with a Cove space of 500 eggs/pets. You can collect up to 500 pets without issues, but if you want more you have to pay to expand. Say you have 500 and want to adopt one more, you have to pay 200 EC to expand your Cove space by 1. If you want to get one more pet, you will pay 400 EC for the second space. And so on. Just like Minnie mentioned above.
