The Forums are back online!

September 13, 2011 at 12:55 PM 43 Comments

You'll be pleased to know the our Forums are now back online.

There is a new and easy way to report spam bots to us. Simply click the new "Report Spam Bot" (monitor_error.png) icon above one of the bots post and our Moderators will be immediately notified. The regular "Thumbs Down" (thumb_down.png) icon should still be used for reporting normal users posts.

We've reviewed nearly 4,000 of the most recent posts and have cleaned them from the spam bot infestation. However, some of them may have escaped our noticed, so use the new Report Spam Bot icon to let us know about it.

Additionally, unactivated users will no longer be able to post on the Forums (a majority of the spam bots were unactivated accounts). More new security measures will be put in place to make sure that this never happens again.

I told you it wasn't me!

Now Hiring: Moderators

September 11, 2011 at 6:02 PM 1031 Comments

Egg Cave is hiring Moderators! To check out what the job entails (and apply), go to the Now Hiring: Moderators page. Please be sure to read all of the instructions carefully.

You'll notice that the Forums are temporarily down for maintenance as we clean out all of the nasty content from massive spam bot attack over this past weekend. Sorry about this! Rest assured: we're on it and the Forums will be back.

UPDATE: The Forums will be back Tuesday afternoon.

This was certainly not the work of a Macbot... but a SPAM BOT!

A couple of bug fixes!

September 5, 2011 at 2:40 PM 1209 Comments

The Site Trivia bug has been fixed. Participate and win!

The Subscribed Topics page has been fixed as well (pagination now works).

We'll admit, the infamous Notifications bug has continued to linger despite the numerous changes we've made to the Egg Cave Notifications system. However, you'll be pleased to know that we've finally found the real culprit of the Notifications bug and it's been permanently squashed and fixed. You should always receive Notifications (including the helpful little pop ups).

Up next: Travels and new Cave creatures!

So, if you notice a significant decrease, rest assured... it really is correct!
