Kanro the Cumula
Personality: Mysterious
Nickname: Winged Cat
Favorite color: Unknown

Kanro is a mysterious critter. Preferring to stay at home rather than go out, his home is surrounded in a dark purple cloud of powder. No one dares to go near the mysterious cloud, even when the SARC investigated and discovered it was simply cheap powder sprinkled across the home using a sprinkler. The children call him a Winged Cat, and yet all they know of him is that he has wings and looks like a cat. The only person who truly knows anything about him is Akinator, who comes to sell him more powder, yet Akinator won't say a word. Perhaps we'll never know anything about him, unless...
you will?
Game: Discover Kanro
Choose your option! Scroll to the bold word suggested in the brackets [] next to the option. Will you be the one to see who he is?

1. To enter, or not to enter...
A. Enter alone [Yourself]
B. Enter with a random villager [Random]
C. No, I'm afraid! (in which case you can leave now 😊)

Yourself
You gingerly step into the purple mist. At first, you're afraid the mist will get into your eyes, but it doesn't, leaving only a pleasant feel to your skin. You walk through the purple mist, thinking it'll never end, but at long last, you discover something by running smack into it. You look up, unfazed, and observe a giant purple statue of a Cumula, supposedly Kanro. You assume now that purple is Kanro's favorite color and, your eyes becoming accustomed to the powder, observe two things: a house behind the statue, and a button on the nose of the statue. What do you do next?
2. Now what?
A. Try entering the house [House]
B. Press the button [Button]
C. Leave and reenter with a villager [Random]

Random
You run into the village, calling for a villager to accompany you. However, no one will accompany you as they are too scared. Even the bold children of the village shrink in their corners and try not to be noticed. You frown, but you can't force them to do anything. You sigh, and steel yourself for what's next.
Head over to Kanro's home by yourself. [Yourself]

House
You gently knock on the door. There is a doorbell, yet too old to be used. Hearing no response from within after five knocks, you try the door. Surprisingly, it isn't locked, but you are terrified of the gushing sound that comes from within. What do you do now?
3. W-what is that sound?
A. Defy your fears by stepping inside [Bravery]
B. Go back and try the button. [Button]
C. Run away and yell your head off. (chose this? you can leave now 😊)

Button
You gently press the button. A loud whirring sound can be heard, and the tail of the statue shoots straight up and you feel yourself descending. You look around you - the part of the floor you are standing on is going down! You freeze with fear, when the 'elevator' suddenly halts. You look around, seeing nothing. As your eyes accustom to the darkness, you notice a ladder, a peephole, and a torch. What's your next move?
4. O-okay...
A. Pick up the torch and turn it on. [Light]
B. Climb up the ladder to the house. [House]
C. Peep through the peephole. [Peep]

Bravery
You step inside the house, with more bravery than you feel. The house is actually beautiful, with a green, 'green-ish' kind of aesthetic that you'd never thought Kanro would have. It's light and beautiful, and not at all fitting for a proclaimed 'monster'. The gushing sound is explained by the liters of water rushing in pretty pipes to water the plants. The house is great, but...where's Kanro? You venture further into the house, your feeling of fear lessened yet still as much present. Admiring the house, you continue on, until you run smack-dab into a giant spiderweb. Your senses are set on high alert. Spiderwebs... are almost transparent, soft, made by spiders... and sticky! You try to move, but are stuck. You notice a pair of gardening shears on the table, just in reach. It could work... You reach for it and cut yourself free, but as you dust the spiderwebs off your shoulder, a purple mist surrounds you, bells tinkle and the smell of potatoes appears.
5. Oh man, what's this?
A. Try to escape by running to the door. [Doorknob]
B. Stand bravely and face whatever's coming. [Sedentary]
C. Beg for mercy. [Mercy]

Light
The instant you turn the torch on, you shriek. The cave-like room you're in has creepy eyes painted everywhere on the wall... looking like they're watching you. You're creeped to the point where you could beg for mercy, but you continue, feeling the eyes stare you down. You're so concentrated on the eyes that you don't notice the thing on the floor until your leg hits it, there's a click and a wall opens sideways. You bend down to observe the thing, and discover it's a lever...
6. Ouch...
A. Flick the lever. [Lever]
B. Enter the hallway where the door opened. [Secret]
C. You notice an eye that's looking guilty. Tap on it. [Eye]

About Cumula Eggs

This egg was given out for Creature Release Week in January of 2015.

Cumula eggs are fairly common, but can only be found in the mesosphere, presumably the coldest place on Ark, making it extremely difficult for humans to reach them. The more heat Cumula eggs are exposed to, the longer it will take for them to hatch. Surprisingly, it has been found that Cumula eggs can survive in temperatures near boiling point, but without exposure to low temperatures, they will never hatch. They can survive about 100 years in an egg before dying of malnutrition.

About the Cumula Creature

Don't let the Cumula's cute looks fool you -- these creatures are actually very proud and often quick-tempered! Unfortunately, aside from this, the Science and Research Center has had a difficult time studying their behavior. Nobody knows what Cumula eat; there have been no known reports of one feeding off of vegetation or prey. Some Arkians believe that they eat the clouds, where they usually reside, although scientists have a hard time accepting the fact that a creature could survive off of water vapor.

Like their egg forms, Cumula can survive in almost any temperature, but their development becomes staggered when exposed to warm temperatures for long periods of time. Interestingly enough, the Science and Research Center has determined that because Cumula grow slower near ground level where it's warmer, they live much longer than those that stay in the clouds for most of their lives. The longest known lifespan of a Cumula that resided in Ark was 436 years; and this is including the long periods of time that it would spend with its friends in the clouds!
