EC - What is the point of it?

I'm just wondering what the point of the EC is. I mean, so far I havent seen anything that it could be used for.
Can someone please explain?

Buying travels, buying Callas, letting your creatures be fed at Tim's, and abandoning creatures... And I think that's it. ^^

Its a reward for feeding creatures, for example, you feed an onny and it poops out an egg full of EC! 😃
