im probably getting one, or two, on december 5th, and want some advice 😸
mightyeglantine • 22 November 2011 at 11:51 PM
I think a good beginner fish is a Betta fish or some Neon Tetra and maybe an African Cichlid....
whitefall • 22 November 2011 at 11:52 PM
Lol, I thought you were talking about fish on EggCave. If you were, I'd say: Start with an Unchaga, then Sparktail. xDI'd say get those really small fish, that don't live very long and are easy to care for. I've never had a fish, but I've heard from many people that's what you should do. Or ask someone who works at a pet store. (:

Wel um not goldfish for sure... I think a good one is a beta fish... Their hardy I got one cause it was in a really bad container with one inch water and I felt bad for it so I got it and my friends said it would dye but it's still here... Plus one of my friends was gona get a fish so she got one of those and its still here and she was a beginner and she was sure it would die but it didn't... My family has had them for a while the longest living one we had was like 7 years
icymuffin • 22 November 2011 at 11:57 PM
Small fish doesn't always mean short life to me. o^oTrust me. @~@But the Betta fish is a really cool starting fish 😃Rather easy to take care of compared to the others and they can look fabulously cool~
gvantsa • 23 November 2011 at 12:07 AM
Yeah get a Betta. But keep it separate from other fish. I was told they fight with other fish. Me and my roommates have one and we love him! Goldfish are plain evil ~.~ Stinky, messy, and die so quickly...
pebblestar-nightclan • 23 November 2011 at 12:09 AM
Definitely a molly. Easy to raise. I have six. Ask me about them any time! I have one now that I got last year, still alive. They are tropical fish though. But they are small. Make sure you get the same gender, or you'll have babies in your tank. Don't freak out if your mollies attack each other; it's just territorial behavior and they won't kill each other. But do NOT put them with other fish.
icymuffin • 23 November 2011 at 12:10 AM
Yeah, the Betta can't the sight of another fish. Hilarious idea, but it can get nasty in reality. o~oGoldfish are overrated~ They make a mess and they are boring~~~ x3
taffy789 • 23 November 2011 at 12:13 AM
@icymuffin - We kept two betta fish in seperate containers, and if we pressed them close to each other, they would hit the glass of their bowls trying to get the other one. XP (How do they have kids though? O_O The Males and Females even kill each other, so- O_O )
catwitagun • 23 November 2011 at 12:20 AM
@taffy789 I never tried it but I wanted to so I looked it up... It's very complicated..... @deannablanco3 beta fish r great beginners but do t get two in the same cage they will fight but their easy to take care of and the males r so pretty
pebblestar-nightclan • 23 November 2011 at 12:24 AM
Mollies are very easy to breed. -_- In fact, almost unstoppable... As long as you have a male and a female, I assure you, there will be babies. But, the hard part is keeping the babies from turning into a snack for their parents...
mightyeglantine • 23 November 2011 at 9:55 AM
@taffy789The male makjes a bubble nest in his tank then when you introduce the female he mellows down and she chooses if she wants him or not.......@gvantsaThe only combination available without fighting is female the can go together. Like I've had them all my life and my sister had a female and so did I so my mom put them in a tank together and they helped, played and protected the tank with each other.
gvantsa • 23 November 2011 at 11:50 AM
So the males are the aggressive ones then 😋

sanibel_18 • 23 November 2011 at 12:10 PM

whimsical • 23 November 2011 at 12:13 PM
Cleaner fish or Common Goldfish?? I'm no expert but I'd say the most popular and easy to look after is the Goldfish... XP
sanibel_18 • 23 November 2011 at 12:28 PM
@whimsicalyes but goldfishes are very dirty and get very big!
syndrome • 23 November 2011 at 12:44 PM
I wouldn't get a beta if you are planning to get more than one. I would recomend a dragon fish and one of those little black cleaner fish along with some goldfish. Or, if you would like something pretty, get some glowfish with a special tank 😃

@pirateseaz you posted it twice XD
syndrome • 23 November 2011 at 12:53 PM
@deannablanco3 Oops, 😃 They reason that I don't like betta is that they are hard to breed, I like me fish to breed >.< Is there any way to make that sound less wrong? LOL
Deleted • 23 November 2011 at 12:54 PM
@pirateseaz that still sounds wrong XD i dont know how to breed fish, this is going to be my first fish 😃
syndrome • 23 November 2011 at 12:59 PM
Actually, I know how to breed bettas and its very rewording, but its harder that breeding other fish T.T
Deleted • 23 November 2011 at 1:01 PM
@pirateseaz i might try to bred fish later, when i have more experiance.
pebblestar-nightclan • 23 November 2011 at 1:09 PM
I really think mollies are a good choice, because you can have a lot in one tank. I have six in a ten-gallon, but good luck with your betta!
arabianninja • 23 November 2011 at 1:09 PM
Hm, we have Kois in our garden pond but those are hardly beginner fish ...
pebblestar-nightclan • 23 November 2011 at 1:12 PM
@arabianninjaOh! I've been looking for someone who has knowledge of kois... I really want some, but I need to know a lot about them so I know how to take care of them...
sanibel_18 • 25 November 2011 at 12:48 PM
but when you want to breed fish you should get guppies, mollies and maby opaline gourami😊
