New Beginnings

Kumo looked up from the uniform that she absolutely adored to see the new girl, Seal. A hyperactive pyromaniac. Got to love the insane extreme arsonists. Kumo made slight adjustments to her uniform here and there to entertain herself, tightening thick straps or loosening silver bands.

The same guard that delivered her uniform to her walked over to her little corner again, large muscles bulging in his pale skin covered by the tight shirt he wore. He dropped a drawstring bag in her lap and walked away, as solemn and serious as ever. Kumo undid the braided gold strings gingerly, afraid of breaking the delicate knots that held the beautiful rope together.

Kumo pulled out a black metallic trinket, turning it over in her hands with awe. Two simple buttons were placed in the center of the gadget, nothing fancy, one red and one silver. 'Red buttons,' Kumo thought, 'though they usually bring the end of mankind or the destruction of a civilization, are very tempting to press'. She felt like Pandora, carefully edging open a delicately carved box with intricate designs, knowing not what the box would bring about.

As her finger pressed the button, a silver web spread about the area she was in, of about a radius of 20 feet. All of the machinery within the web flickered, gadgets wavering and beeping. 'So that's what this handy dandy gadget does,' Kumo thought to herself with delight before pressing the silvery button and putting the gadget away.

Seal grinned widely and opened her backpack, revealing tons of explosives. She started bouncing up and down again and lit a stick of dynamite. "Don't worry!" she said, grinning mischievously. "I've had tons of practice"

@moomoomilk24 @hayz It's probably because Weddingbeach got reported as a spam bot so their posts are gone.

Kumo's eyes widened at the lit stick of dynamite in Seal's hand, threatening to set the sector on fire. In a rush of panic, Kumo instinctively used her powers to get the dynamite away. With a blast of seismic force, Seal and her stick of dynamite were thrown into a different sector, crashing against a nearby wall. Kumo held her place so she wouldn't cringe, masking her emotions with a tip of her fedora.

"No pyromaniacs and their insane fire-based experiments in Borealis."

Kumo spat angrily, sending a piercing glare Seal's way.

"Wow darlings," she said, casting a look towards Kumo's direction, "Pretty tense aren't-cha?" She had watched the seismic blast that only Kumo could've created and was glad that she was too far for the blast to hit.

She nodded towards the direction of several machines that gleamed in the artificial lamp-light. A considerable number of people in Haz-mat suits flittered around the machines like little bees towards their honey.

"I think we're ready to board soon," she said, "I think we're supposed to be going into teams of two." She frowned as someone, that was geared up in one of the puffy Haz-Mat suits approached them.

"At least that's what I read." She stopped talking as the man, at least it seemed to be a man behind the protective glass stopped behind her.

Kumo nodded at Reyna's words, looking for a suitable partner. The fire addict was much too volatile, with an explosive personality she certainly couldn't trust. The Reyna girl, who controlled gravity, seemed to speak so much that Kumo didn't know if she'd be able to handle it. Silic, on the other hand, was quite the opposite. She wouldn't speak at all, hiding in her own shadow and never daring to look up, fearful of... something.

Kumo decided to figure out one of her other gadgets before choosing a teammate. Another little box found its way to her fingertips, but this one was a bright, astonishing white. A silver button, like there was on the other gadget, sat to the right of a large blue button that Kumo couldn't resist touching. With the press of a finger, a light blue, silky web spread again in the same radius as the other force field the other gadget had created. She wondered what it did, pressing the silver button and shrugging to herself as she slipped the gadget in its bag.

Reyna bounced over to Kumo's side, making sure she didn't get too close, "So," she said, "You decided on a partner yet?" Her brown hair seemed to wave in a non-existant breeze.

Kumo looked up at Reyna through a curtain of thick black locks. She was just a bit too close, closer then Kumo liked. Taking a small half step away, she shook her head no.

"Nope. Have you?"

Kumo asked Reyna in a quiet voice. It was a soft tone, but in no way small or timid, just demure.

"Possibly," Reyna said as she noticed Kumo take a step back. She sat down on the ground and gazed upwards at Kumo's face, for the first time noticing her eyes.

"Who's your first choice?" her words bounced around the two girls like the reverberating of bells on a crisp winter day.

@lola622f we've gotten our gadgets and our uniforms from a man that soon disappeared and then now we're picking partners, since only two people can fit into one time machine-if there's an odd number we'll have a group of three
--we'll be assigned to a time machine and that'll be ours, we're staying together as a GROUP though when we get to the new worlds.
--the COP are going to be controlling the movements of the time machine, but right now we're going to the world that I described in the recruiting thing...--where you posted your characters

Hesitant, Kumo pulled her fedora down over her eyes again. Her words were suddenly swarming her, enclosing and burying her, like walls of a chamber closing in with frightening speed. Kumo forced herself to breathe, breathe the words that were choking her, breathe some kind of air that would maybe restore her composure.

"I don't know."

Kumo managed to say, the words clumsily dropping out of her lips in a bedraggled mess.

Seal was blasted backward. When she got up again, she scowled at the girl, Kumo. She walked up to the rest of the group, fuming. "You guys are SO boring." she said under her breath.

Kumo shot an icy glance at the fiery flame-addict. Her fedora lifted ever so slightly, just to give her a glimpse of the piercing silver eyes shooting daggers at her.

"There's a difference between boring and intelligent."

Kumo spat, frost forming on her cold words.

Seal's anger flared up. Usually, she didn't get angry, but this girl was just so...so DUMB. Seal started shouting at Kumo loudly. She said quite some pretty bad insults, so I won't post them here. XD

Kumo stood still, leaning against the wall with her fedora tipped down over her head. It was still another moment of tense silence after the livid rants were over before Kumo blasted Seal away from her in an upwards fashion. The collision between the girl and the seismic energy created a bone-chilling crackle as the silver web of light sent the pyromaniac flying.

"Neanderthal."

Kumo muttered, shaking her head in disappointment. She had been expecting something a bit more exciting, brain bustling. Something where she would have to rack her snarky thoughts for a witty comback.

Reyna watched the two as they blasted eachother, "Well, I must say, you're really starved of intelligence aren't-cha?"

She looked towards Kumo and then towards the time machines, "I think we've got time. Wanna fight?"

Kumo looked up at Reyna, then gave a subtle nod. She then pulled out the gadget whose ability she hadn't quite figured out yet, with the blue force field. With the single press of the blue button, the web spread out again, like a virus, enveloping Kumo in a translucent shield.

She still had yet to determine Reyna's ability, she knew it was something that had to do with some kind of invisible force or something related.

She silently observed Kumo as she pulled out a machine that seemed foreign to her, like a new thought that spread through-out her mind, corrupting her being. Reyna smiled as Kumo watched her warily.

Reyna made the first move, and in a dance-step like movement she swooped down like a bird catching it's prey. The gravity around Kumo changed upruptly, like the opening of a sink-hole.

Kumo seemed weightless, and her body was thrown up and about like a flimsy, lifeless ragdoll. As her body began to drop to the floor, hair dissarayed from its usual perfection, a burst of seismic energy caused the floor to convulse ebulliently, a deep, disgruntled mumble. Her force field stopped her mere inches form the floor as she landed lightly on her heavy boots.

Now, with a bit of knowledge, Kumo sent a blast of translucent energy towards Reyna, catching the bright lights of the stadium* as it shimmered, a pulchritudinous weapon. The labyrinth of light entangled in Reyna as Kumo waited for her ability to work. She scanned the stadium once more, and then decided to cling onto one of the metal bars that lined the ceiling. Another burst of force sent her flying as she clung to a bar, perching on top like a merciless bird of prey.

*They're in a stadium thingy right?

@reyna Kumo can jump really high 'cause of her force fields, when she is outside of them 😋 I didn't want to control the battle scene so I didn't say Reyna got slammed against the wall and collapsed, lifeless xD 😋

Seal scowled at Kumo as she got up again. She bared her teeth, which were surprisingly pointy. Some flames sparked from her fingertips, as that was what happened when she got angry. She plopped down on a seat and began pawing through her pack again.

Reyna was blasted against the wall, the only thing that stopped her from slamming into it was her ability. Quickly changing the gravity around her so it was easy to move she turned and pushed against the solid barrier and glided through the air, almost in slow motion. She landed on her slippered feet and silently cursed herself for not getting changed. her shoes remained intact though, as they had been engineered specifaclly for combat.

"Not bad." Reyna called towards Kumo as she danced towards the girl.

Lying in wait for the next seismic burst she crouched low to the ground, hoping to lower her central point to make herself more balanced and stable. Reyna didn't have to wait long, as a blast almost threw her off her feet. She lowered the gravity, until it was almost none existent, the energy stopped travelling through the air, and hung suspended like dew drops about to fall of a crystalline web.

Knowing that Kumo couldn't have had much practice walking through it, she rushed towards the girl, taking extra care to navigate through the dangling orbs.

Seal found a device. It was flame-blue, and white. She touched it and didn't fell any heat, but she knew it would've given a bad burn to any other person. She touched the white center and found herself engulfed in flames.
