Art Thief are a very big issue with any art medium, any style!

To help protect your self and your work
always remember to sign it in someway.

Be proud of your work! Put your name or user
name on it so if and when it is stolen from a
thief you will be able to tell them to take it
down and not claim your hard work as their work.

~What is an Art Thief?

An Art thief is someone who uses a search engine,
finds a piece of art they like, then they post it on a
forum and tell people they made it.

~Why do they do this?

An Art Thief is not a bad person, just misguided.
They want people to like them. It could be because
they are lacking the skills to make friends online, or
they could be new and want people to notice them
right away.

Will continue after someone comments (Not enough room)

~Who are these Art Thiefs?

It could be anyone at anytime.
Maybe one of your friends.
You may have done it before.

~What do I do if I see an Art Thief?

~ Find the original piece of art and artist.
~ Report the person right away!
~ Send in a link of the original piece.
~ Take a screen cap of the person's post in case they deleted it.
~ You can ask the original artist if they posted it on the site you are on. It just might be them posting it.
~ Do not confront the Thief because they become violent. They also continue to weave a path of lies to cover their tracks. This might confuse you. They might start deleting evidence.

~ What will happen to the Thief after they are reported?

It depends on the site you are on ToS. Sometimes
they just get a warning. Most sites will remove their
account for a while. Where as some other sites will
remove their account and their IP so they can
never go on again.

I don't think there are any of these on egg cave. It's against the rules anyway.

@james-bond

Thank you 😊
It is against the law to steal art from others.

Mainly just a warning for the wonderful artist
on here to sign their work before posting it up.

EDIT:
The other thing that is seen as stealing is RP pictures.

Many artist will hunt down their art if it is used and not credited.
RPs are known to edit the pictures without the original
artist consent just so they can say they made it.

Yeah. A while ago, I suggested a creature. And one of the stages was a wolf sitting down, and I made its tail blow over the paws because I cant draw them well. Then, about a month later, the Nym came out. The second stage looked pretty much exactly the same! Just different colors.

It is probably just a coincident though.
I mean, I don't own that pose or anything.

Yeah I was accused of that here until I had to point out that I posted my topic long before they did. Almost 2 weeks before they posted theirs. Really Angel 's in any form have similarities. They picked up on the wings and halo which was funny. So instead of making sure they were just to mad theirs did not get picked.

So people need to be calm about that, well about a lot of things here to be had lol

@luvmykids244

It is different with ideas
unless they are to the T the same, you can't really
claim an idea unless it is a specific design.

Such as your angel, if yours had red wings, rainbow
face markings, a blue dress, and yellow shoes.
Then someone draws an angel in a different pose
with the same colors and markings... that is stealing 😋

As far as your basic angel, white wings, blonde hair,
female (even though they are unisexed), white dress
you can't stake claim to something like that since it is a
common design.

It is hard on some people though, when people think
with all their heart that they made something unique
and then they see someone with something very similar
it hurts and they want to do something about it.

That is why I post my art on DeviantArt, they copy write it for me.

Watermarks 😃

I'm paranoid about these kinds of problems. I mean, it's artwork!
Sure it's flattering to see someone like your art to the point where they'd steal it, but the artist actually put effort into their creation D:<

@piucca

The hurt does not excuse claiming someone else stole their art when it's not the truth tho. Even my suggestion had more elements added on by the artists here that were not my idea. So people need to keep that is mind as well.

I do understand tho and against theft of any art form on here or anywhere 😊 I am very aware of the difference and what you can claim for art theft. Unfortunately a large majority are not as clear.
