Remember When...?

So sometimes, I like to act like I'm an 80-year-old woman and reminisce about how things used to be, especially regarding Egg Cave. Like:

Remember When...
- You clicked on an egg in The Cave, and it was yours forever, no chance to "leave it" there?

- To trade a creature, you had to time it JUST RIGHT with the other person so that the intended person was the one to pick it up in the Adoption Center? (I haven't experienced a rush quite like trying to grab that egg since the TC arrived. A lot of fights broke out because of this one.)

- There WERE no CC creatures?

- A full-grown creature was the best thing you could offer someone, because click exchanges weren't big yet, so it was the hardest thing to do?

- When the layout was a dark green/grey and it almost hurt your eyes to switch over to v2?

- People gave you creatures for free, because that was just what we did. We helped each other.

Yep... but if Terrons stopped apearing in the cave they would return to being rare 😉 ...but that would suck for the new people who come after that 😋

They come at such an inconvenient time that you'd think they'd still be rarer...but I guess we have a lot of people in different time zones.

I was kindly given mine, because Terron Time is 2am for me...so not doable. In over two years, I still haven't found one myself XD

Terron time is 9am for me, so I guess that's why they're not that rare 😊 Eggcave is being terribly slow for me today, so I think I'll be going offline for now...

The "leave it" only came because we started being able to see what it was 😋


But nowadays, I think some users are getting it all wrong. I mean the way they try to "gift" others.
Back then, when you gifted, no one expected anything afterwards. It was in a way, "from the bottom of your heart" {cheezy, I know} It was because you were trying to help 'cuz maybe they missed the event or you were just being plain nice.

I remember that.. but not the Adoption Center thing because when I joined there was an adoption center. The old Eggcave sounds nice. If only Ian kept that site for us to use 😋

Yeah. My cove was fulll of "DONTFEED" eggs, because I was trying hard to get a Bunthoff.

Gifting from the heart isn't a thing of the past.
Once, there was a friend I knew who wanted a Spookcat. I found a user who had one, and made an agreement. I traded for the Spookcat, but it went to my friend. She still doesn't know it was me...

But those threads, the ones that spammed the forums just recently... I'm referring to some of those.
It feels as if they are parading around saying that they will bring back the "real" Egg Cave while wishing for more creatures... I hope in a way that it's just me thinking that.

But no, it isn't a thing of the past 😃

OH SNAP! Thanks for posting the screen shots! I KNEW I wasn't making up that a darker grey was the main background and dark green the background for that 😃

I try to keep the old gifting spirit alive. I've given a number of valuable creatures away for free, and people always want to give me something worth more than a junk egg in exchange. If everyone just trusted others to give the fair offer a creature deserves instead of over-asking, I think they'd be pleasantly surprised at what they see come their way.

I try to use my side account as gifting; if I got it for free it can be yours for free...no point stealing from people for something I didn't have to do anything for. Of course, there's also the circuit of older LEs where I'll give you it (no matter the rarity) for a single other older LE that I will in turn give to someone for another older LE...and so on and so forth. I don't brag about doing it (at least I'm not trying to...) because it's the Egg Cave ideal I remember (I mean, please, my '09 Florn and Foo, at the very least, were simply given to me because I couldn't find them in the cave myself) and want to bring back, even if it's only for a few members 😊

I've gotten a ton on my own... but not recently 😱

My first terron (My current one) was give to me in '09... before I knew how to get one myself 😊

Yeah, mine was given to me in January '10...I knew how to get it, but knew it would be impossible with my life and luck, haha. I have tried a few times without success.

Well... for all the time I've been here I've never gotten a Mo from the cave... ☹️

I've checked the cave everyday until my cove got full with no luck 😋

Now Mo's, I've found 4 or 5 in the cave during my time here. The one that I have in my cove, ironically, I had traded for (for a Balrog, so I basically paid $5 for it, haha), but that was while I was having no luck for over a year. The others I mostly gave away.

I traded a Macbot for a Mo, Roo, two Rhinedorfs and Balrog... that was when Macbots were not the rarest creature 😋 I still have the Mo but I traded the others for another Macbot 😈 I'd never try that again ☹️

Wow...that sounds intense. I haven't ever considered trading my Macbot (or DooVoo). It still amuses me how people didn't really like them when they were released, but now they're some of the most sought after. They were a bit of an impulse buy for me, since they were available for such a short amount of time...but I'm so glad I did; I love them 😊

Well, That was about a month after they were releasted so they were not that rare... I traded a Doovoo for it in the first place 😋

Idk why people didn't like them? 😱
I would have kept mine but I wanted to complete my cove 😊

Terrons are only able to be found in the cave at 3am ECT...not sure what the specific end time is (or if anyone knows) 😊
