Suddenly, a cold voice sent chills down Lorin's spine. But who was speaking? In the dim light, everybody was a shadow, and faces blurred.

" Hey" Jasper felt more comfortable when the sunlight disappeared. It made him feel more confident and relaxed. The icy voice that pierced through the darkness made him startled a little, but it wasn't that bad.

Lorin couldn't stand the unneasiness she felt. It was like she was in the arena right now, a mental arena, and everybody was her enemy. The cold voice, her worst enemy. With her mind clouded with doubt and fear, Lorin couldn't focus in on anybody. Without focus, Lorin was weak and unprotected, her power of reading the lives of those around her lost.

As the sun went down, Alicia started shivered uncontrollably, longing for the warmth and comfort the sun gave her. Why did it have to go down now? Why? She was at her weakest, but at least there was some light here, which bounced off her pendant. "Hey. So, you have a power?"

Huge men clad in black stepped onto the stage in the middle of them the voice pierced through the night air again. "Only one of you standing here will live. Any complaints?", the voice said. It was undistinguished whether male or female.

Sylvia stared up into the middle of the men. Only she recognized the voice. That was her mother.

Men dressed in black walked up onto the stage, their silent deadliness chilling Alicia more than most nights did. The voice came out again, saying only one could live. With a fatal weakness like that, Alicia doubted her chances.

Lorin forced herself to relax as men dressed in black took the stage. "This part is the mental fight. Stay calm. Focus on the men. Focus on their eyes to start. What are their names." Lorin thought. She narrowed her eyes, but it was useless. The dark concealed their identities well. Then Lorin thought she heard some voices speaking. "Hello?" Lorin whispered quietly. Never did it cross her mind, to listen to what the men were saying.

The wind carried the girl's word across to her ears. "All of them... will die." Alicia's eyes widened, and determination filled her, but she kept this to herself. Silently, though, she pondered as to what she could do...

Jasper glanced around. One person was shiv Bering, but he couldn't help notice that there was light around her. If she controls light, then, Jasper was sure that they were going to be enemies. There was another girl who looked confident and a few other people. Jasper glanced at the place where the cold voice was coming from. There were six men dressed in grey cloaks. Jasper couldn't see their faces. It was covered by the cloaks.

Reno was a little freaked out. He calmed himself by drawing bubbles on the paper and letting the float up and pop on his face. It sounded weird, but was very relaxing.

The black clad men started speaking as one in bland tones. "There is no fighting before the games or you will be eliminated. No using powers on other people before the games. Do you puny children get it?" The person in the middle gave a long chilling laugh and the lights shut off. "The training begins tommorow."

Sylvia stepped out of the shadows of the stage and refused to look at the monster in the middle of her bodyguards. What kind of mother lets her own children die? She said to herself.

The reflections which danced across her pendant reminded her that she was alive, at least for one more second. One more. She glanced at the boy called Jasper. He was a dark aura dancing about him, or was it the stark contrast of dark and light from her own aura? Would they be enemies... or could they be friends?

The voice continued, detailing some rules, and announcing training will be tomorrow. Great. One more night, she supposed, to stay with Liccie and Nancy. And one more night to plan.

Lorin grew resless as nobody answered her. So, she decided to amuse herself with a game. She narrowed her eyes, and started to skulk around the square, closing in on people, and once she finally made eye contact with one of them, she'd spew a name forth and stun them. She'd look into their heart and whisper a secret of theirs into their ear and watch as the person quickly stepped back, eyes wide. If she were listening to the men on stage, eh, maybe she would have stopped. But in her purple and black clothes, the night was on her side, and she went undetected. Then a small trace of light caight Lorin's eyes. Lorin quickly remembered why she was here: They all had powers too. And by annoying them she'd create enemies quickly. She stoppedher skulking, forced her eyes to unnarrow, and cooly walked over to the person with the light, and calmly said "Hello."

For some strange reason, when the lights shut off, making the place pitch black, Jasper could 'see' it better. Well, he couldn't really see it. Jasper sensed everything, even colour. It was strange, and confusing.

EDIT: Jasper sank into the shadows as the rays of a sun appeared in the middle of the square. The light was blinding him. Jasper blocked The rays of sunlight as much as possible. Now, everything looked to bright to him.

Alicia jumped at the cool, mature voice behind her. "Oh, uh, hello!" she stuttered, unable to find the right words. "Why...er... This is a nice day?" As the lights on the stage began to dim, the small exposure to the strong light made her feel lightly stronger, and she watched her aura grow a little bit stronger in the darkness.

To avoid giving away any hint of her powers, Lorin forced her eyes to remain normal and kept eye contact with the girl. "No time for secrets," she chided herself. "Excited for the arena?" Lorin asked, feigning curiosity.
