Kay blinked in confusion. A soft intching spread across her hands and she looked down and gasped. The tips of her fingers had turned black. It wasn't from the dirt, she had tried rubbing it off. The skin itself had turned coal black, even her nail had darkened. She frowned, inspecting her hands.
"Wh-what?"

Tessa wasnt dazed enough to sense a potential threat. She jumped and raised her grandaddy's .45 pistol at the boys head.
"Hold still or I fire." She said. She had just survived some weird kind of voodoo power thing, and she wasn't goign down against some teenager about her age.

Tessa lowered the gun slightly.
"Not to be too tough on you, since you somehow survived like us, but I just went through alot today and I can't risk whether youve caught the virus." She softened a bit. He was probably goign through rough times too....but this far through and she couldnt take risks.
"We'll have to wait 24 hours too see if youre infected."

"Signs have been known to be seen as late as 48 hours." She put the revolver fully down. "Like I said, im not taking chances. If you want to come with us, you'll sleep seperate. 24 hours."

Snapping out of her daze, Kay stood up on waggling legs and rubbed her eyes.
"I do suppose we need sleep as of now." she mumbled incoherently, yawning afterwards.

She glanced at the fallen zombies and frowned.
"We can't sleep on the ground though. Too bloody" she added absent mindedly.

"Too bad we can't be zombies. I mean, they never need to sleep!" Steve said, yawning afterwards. "There must be some top-secret headquarters where no zombie or virus can get through. We really need a full night's rest." Steve commented, stretching his arms. "Oh well, until then, we need to find some sleeping accommodations."

Tessa glanced at the new boy. Her little pack came first before strangers.
"You sleep outside, we will sleep in and on the back of the truck for now." She said solidly.

In reality she had no time for runaway boys.

It was about 7 at night and her crew was bloody and tired.

"Go in gorups of two to wash yourselves off in the stream." She said rubbign her eyes. "Kay and I will take the first watch"

A quick glance upwards and Kay smiled, yawning again.
"I think we'll be safe up in the trees... At least they won't be able to reach us then" she stated, looking at the strong thick brancges of one millenium oak nearby. There was a small opening in it-a hollow. By the looks of things it could fit at least two people in it, if not more.
