I don't have anything specific in mind.But as this site is taking up most of my time, I'd love to be able to roleplay here. The thing is, I've been lurking and I see so many short posts... Grammar/spelling errors (occasional is fine, but I'm talking constant)And Mary Sues. Would anyone like to create a roleplay, whether it be animal/human/ect that is strictly literate, the characters MUST have flaws (Mary Sues = ARGH) and must have a minimum word/sentence count? If so, feel free to post here or PM me. Am I being too picky? Or stuck up? If so, let me know. I'm just seeking a specific preference. ^.^And if anyone is interested, I do have a wolf roleplay with these rules in place already in a topic that is just needing characters. But I'd like to plan a roleplay with someone else. 😊

I would love too! I have to admit I'm not a great speller, but that's what spell check is for right?? Also where is your wolf role play?? I might join... Also, what's a Mary Sue?? @april__
akira • 9 April 2012 at 10:02 AM
I'd like to join that wolf rp! 😸

@april__Wanna do a 1 on 1 in PM?I don't do wolves though 😉

@april_I could join! My main character is flawed--literaly! He has webbed hands! I'd join a human Role Play

A Mary Sue is a character that is TOO perfect. They have no physical flaws. They're good at everything they do. They usually have a tragic past. They are usually someone placing themselves in a roleplay as how they wish they were. They can do things that others can't. If no human in the world can run 100 miles in a certain time, they'd be able to do it. And usually everyone falls in love with them.Basically a character without flaws. And for those interested, my wolf roleplay is here: http://eggcave.com/forums/topic/19078@whispers I've never done 1 on 1, but I'd be willing to try depending on what you have in mind to brush up as I haven't roleplayed in awhile.
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 10:07 AM
@april__ could you please tell me what a Mary Sue is??? Also all my characters have flaws. I try to figure out what though.Edit-Didn't see your post before mine...sorry!

@april__I would love to join! No Mary Sues here!
april__ • 9 April 2012 at 10:10 AM
I'm glad there's interest! If anyone has any specific ideas, let me know. But there is a roleplay I'd love to start on here that I made on another site. http://www.neopets.com/~QuelthalazThere's the plot. Of course it wouldn't be EXACTLY the same. But the same basic idea. It's based off the Animorphs and kind of involves gifted teenagers. ^.^ EDIT: Scratch that. I just realized it's a violent roleplay, that while is okay (well it's not 'okay' but lots of people do them) on the other site it appears, is not okay on this one! Ignore it. But if you're curious, feel free to read on it.

@april__ I know how you feel, how some people make themselves 'drop dead gorgeous, rich, popular'. Ew, Mary Sue much? >< But I'm just can't tell them. And others need to be more literate and post more then one/two word posts. :I
april__ • 9 April 2012 at 10:40 AM
@trishI agree. I'd love to ask for roleplay samples to decide whether to roleplay with people but I don't want to seem mean. So I'm going to brave it out, and just hope I can give some helpful tips. ^.^
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 10:45 AM
@april__ thanks for explaining what Mary Sues are. Also I do hate it when people who make one line posts in the role plays. I hate how the don't use proper punctuation, spelling, and of course spacing.

@april__Nice to meet you, friend. It seems we come from the same jungle. I started roleplaying a couple years ago on Neopets, learning as I went. Goodness knows the crashers there are vicious, but they've made me a better roleplayer. By EggCave standards, a good roleplayer. http://eggcave.com/forums/topic/14190/ For your reference. I generally match the length of whatever replies I'm given, unless the other roleplayer isn't doing their job or unless the replies get obscenely long. I'm not huge on wolves, but I'll think about joining. I don't have access to a computer at the moment, so I can't do any real roleplaying until the end of the week. If you'd like to talk, though, or to plan, I'd be more than happy to oblige. It's so good to see another experienced roleplayer around here. However, I somewhat disagree with your definition of Mary Sue. A Mary Sue can still have "flaws"--as an example, a character can be too shy. However, the flaw all depends on how it affects the character. If the Sue is shy, and her shyness only makes her more endearing, she's still a Sue. The flaw isn't detrimental, in other words.
april__ • 9 April 2012 at 11:20 AM
@silver_wingedI'm aware of those types of flaws for a Mary Sue. ^.^ Like the 'doesn't trust anyone' flaw to make you feel sorry for her. I was just trying to explain best I could.I'd love to start another roleplay, if you have any specific things you'd like to try. I could do a human roleplay or anything of the sort. Just as long as I don't end up rolling my eyes at the posts, lol! I'm probably not as experienced as you as I have done most of my roleplaying in French, and not so much in English. But I have been improving and definitely don't agree with short posts, spelling errors or grammar errors. I don't find much excuse for them.Once you have a real computer, I'd love to talk roleplay with you!
silver_winged • 9 April 2012 at 11:33 AM
@april__I'm not criticizing, just offering my two cents. It's an important fact for Sue-toting roleplayers who think they can get around the "no real flaws" rule. ^^ You and I know it, but there might be a lot of roleplayers here who don't. Before I start sounding rude again, I'll say that I'm trying to help and leave it at that. I prefer roleplays whose characters are over the age of thirteen. I prefer human(oid)s, but animals aren't off-limits. I prefer roleplays with a logical dynamic, especially when it comes to magic or "powers." (With more experienced/mature roleplayers, I let them be, but on public topics I try to set clear boundaries.) Other than that, I'm open. ^^ I like to think that none of my characters are shallow enough to be considered Sues, but if you find yourself rolling your eyes, let me know. I don't want to be a hypocrite. XD I admire you for undertaking roleplay in a different language. ^^ Is it difficult? English verbs are so irregular. Right back at you. ;D

@april__@silver_wingedOh my goodness, I have found my soulmates! YES! People who understand my frustration towards role-players! Haha, if you guys will let me, I'd love to join! Just something that is open-ended, private and literate. 😃
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 1:50 PM
@skylark LOL! Yes, I agree with everyone else, but I must be held guilty at three word responses. When I first started it my role playing horrible. But isn't everyone when they first start?? I would love to be apart of the literate role play.
takaedakumi • 9 April 2012 at 1:57 PM
@april__ I know EXACTLY how you feel. My problem is that no one understands my posts because I actually care about elaborating my stories and it's too complicated for people or something. It makes me sad and slightly annoyed. How can I make them understand? :<
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 2:01 PM
@takatheeducatedkid Easy, just take it slower and make the role play a little more...hmmm....not so complicated. Eventually they should get!
takaedakumi • 9 April 2012 at 2:02 PM
@seaangel That's just it, apparently I'm TOO elaborate. No one actually wants a good story, they like running all over doing whatever the heck. -_-
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 2:05 PM
@takatheeducatedkidHmm, sounds like me little sister.
takaedakumi • 9 April 2012 at 2:06 PM
@seaangel Lol, it's crampin' mah creativity. 😋
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 2:10 PM
@takatheeducatedkid hmm kind of role plays you like
takaedakumi • 9 April 2012 at 2:22 PM
@seaangel Well, my favorite kind are the ones where people have abilities or look like animals, more like... A sci-fi kind I suppose.
lola622f • 9 April 2012 at 2:23 PM
I would love to join a literate roleplay, but I have a confession: I usually post a sentence or two in many roleplays. I would like to try a literate roleplay (if that's okay).
seaangel • 9 April 2012 at 2:23 PM
@takatheeducatedkid I love that kind too! Hmm your like my long lost sibling!
april__ • 9 April 2012 at 4:16 PM
@silver_wingedSorry! I wasn't meaning to argue. I was just explaining so you didn't think my characters were Sues that I did know what they were. I write a lot of FanFiction and original stories. It's all I do. I prefer characters to be over 13 as well, as I am 18 and it's awkward to roleplay under 13. It is a bit hard but I've started roleplaying in English for about six months now and it gets easier. I learn something new every day. It's great practice for me as I am an English speaking part of my country and will be getting a job and attending University here and such. @skylark I'd love to have you join, as I hope we can find some more people in our boat to have a roleplay on the roleplay thread. Though, I wish there were guilds as I'd feel bad only having it specific to a few people. But PM's would be weird. So I'd hope to do it on the threads, but I can understand if no one else wants to. The main part of my wanting to do a roleplay with more experienced people is short posts. I admit, I've written them sometimes but usually only when I get a short post in return and don't have much to go off of. And I'd like to meet some well rounded character.Not some 14 year old girl that risks her life to save everyone else. Let's face it. Who would actually do that at 14? Only in books, lol!
skylark • 9 April 2012 at 6:45 PM
@april__ I wish there were guilds too, as I'm in a few private role-plays and I always feel bad of shutting people out. I would prefer thread rather then PM'ing, as well. Really? I never knew English wasn't your first language! And I prefer older characters too (:I cannot do animal role-plays as well as humans, because I am (obviously) a human.
april__ • 9 April 2012 at 6:49 PM
@skylarkSo I guess we've settled on a human roleplay.I was thinking, maybe the roleplay could accept members that stumbled upon if they sent in a roleplay sample? Or is that too mean? *feels bad* But I really want a decent roleplay!
takaedakumi • 9 April 2012 at 6:59 PM
@seaangel Lol. 😋
