It's funny how people just post something like 'Good Luck' instead of 'bump' because 'bump' is now banned. I didn't really see the point of banning the 'bump'.

@james-bond

Meh. When I say good luck, I actually mean it. XD

And I can see why bump was banned to be honest. I can see a lot of people misusing it and bumping every two minutes. Then again, we're not able to double post. So I guess I don't understand why it is. XD

True, but there is the fact that bump doesn't really have any meaning. However saying Good Luck, although acts like a bump, gives some encouragement.

Because users can use their sides to bump-spam the livepulse. Plus the fact that posts are supposed to contribute to the discussion.
Based on that rule, I don't think the multiple repetative "Good Luck" posts are supposed to be used either. But I suppose they're better than just "Bump"

@lily-

This is a good explanation.

@icymuffin

That makes sense. I'd get annoyed if I saw a user just keeping their topic bumped up. Taking up the livepulse and such. XD Which I follow, a lot.

@lily- It helps the person who made the post though. And people who might hop on a little later and see the post whereas if there was no bump, they would never have seen it.

@april__ Because there are no bumps anymore, many people just make a whole new topic with exactly the same thing. Better to have just got a bump, no?

Technically when you post you must add to the topic/discussion and "good luck" really don't fit that. Its just so widespread and there are only 2 mods now that it's hard to police every little thing.

@james-bond

I don't actually see much of that. I'd be more annoyed by seeing bumps constantly. XD

Thanks. I also agree with what @icymuffin said. I forgot about that. Gosh I have a really bad memory XD.

Ian already added into the rules that "bumping" is no longer allowed, so that's why you rarely ever see it now. ^^
And we remind users who still do.

True, but like @icymuffin said it sometimes takes up the entire livepulse. Furthermore, making new topics on exactly the same thing isn't allowed. Though yeah, people do do it...

But wouldn't that clog the forums?

@icymuffin
Who can be bothered to log off their account, log on, bump, log off, log back onto main, just to bump their topic? So do you think making a whole new forum is better than giving a bump?

@lily-
What if you were trying to trade some creatures though? And the topic just completely died? Who wouldn't make a new topic on the same thing??

@james-bond
Some people do bother to do it. And they do it.

I don't think it is better either, afterall if you read the Forum Rules, it states: "Creating a new topic when a similar, active one already exists."

If a thread dies, it probably means that your thread interests very few users, no one can meet any requirements you've listed, there are few users online, or something of that sort.

I guess, but isn't it possible to ask your friends to post on it saying something reasonable?
Whenever my cousin makes a topic and it's dying, she always asks me to post on it to stop it from doing so.

@james-bond

I know for Neopets, I'm always on 2-3 accounts at a time via different browsers. It's easy.

I don't know about the good luck thing. I'm fairly new but when I say it I honestly mean it. That's just because I always want people to get things that make them happy. XD

Well if your topic has died it might be of interest to someone but they can't see it because it has died.
Also for the 'good luck' thing. At least that makes people feel better or encouraged, where as bump isn't a message to the person at all, so good luck is better in my opinion

@icymuffin
But if the topic hasn't been responded to and died off liveplus, it isn't counted as 'active' is it?And users can still go onto their sides and post 'good luck' to themselves.

Yes, if the forum died, you posted at a time there were hardly any users online (happens very often for me because of my country's time compared to USA's), or there weren't the right users online. But that doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't or should be allowed to post a bump or whole new topic.

@lily-
I don't like to ask people to post on your topic for no reason. That's against the rules anyway right? Because they'll just post something like 'good luck' instead of 'bump' right? They won't be adding to the forum.

@april__
I'm not sure why, but I'm not able to do that. Yes, some people, like you, do mean it but people who were around when there was still the 'bump' thing now use phrases like 'GL', Good luck' instead.
