So, I've been noticing myself trying to have snacks a lot more lately. Most likely, it's stress as I have a lot to do to finish the year off strong. But I really can't afford to gain weight back. I've worked so hard. Sure, you can exercise, but when I'm finding myself eating right before bed...all I can really do is pace. The best bet is to try to find a way to keep my mind off food.
Anyone have any ideas or things they do personally to keep themselves from eating too much and/or at inappropriate times? It's almost like I don't think about it...I just go reach for food. I just ate a Rice Krispy treat and had to stop myself from taking two. When I do snack, I try to keep myself surroundec by healthy foods, and for the most part it works...until my mom goes grocery shopping and brings home all kinds of stuff. 😋

I've just been feeling so hungry lately. Help me keep my mind off food.☚ī¸

I wish I could help. But I'm in the same boat. DX And I need to lose weight for University this year. *sigh*

A lot of will power? I don't have it.

I've never really thought about it or had a problem with it, so I don't know, but good luck!

@metaphor Try chewing gum instead. It'll keep your mind off food and you won't feel so hungry while you're chewing it.

Try to remember not to eat something as you go for the cupboards. Tape a note if you need to. Whenever I got hungry a year or two back in school I would take a drink of water. It puts something in your stomach, but it's not the best solution. You could also ask your mom to not buy as much unhealthy goodies.

Gum always made me eat more. /:
The only thing that helps me is staying away from the kitchen.
Or if I'm out with friends or my daddy.

Get like, 5 large pinches of salt.

Slap them all on your tongue, with your palm.

Let the saltiness sink in.

Feel sick, and regenerate tons of saliva.

If you can't handle it, drink plenty of water.

And you should feel sick to the stomach.

o-o

Or do this with lemon juice. But I recommend the salt. Lemon juice makes me hungrier.

IT will take a lot of will power and self reinforcement, but you can do it 😊

Before bed if you get hungry, or just want to snack, say to yourself like: 'Whatever you eat right then, is what you're going to bed with, and it will stick.' Or ' Do I really NEED this right now, when I can have it in the morning and work it off?' It helps make those late night snacks MUCH less appealing.

Have small, healthy snacks throughout the day.
Some options are:
Cucumbers (which are amazing for weight loss, and healthy)
Some carrot sticks
A small salad
Apples

One or two of those throughout your day in between meals will help curb the need to snack unhealthily.
Drinking lots of liquids also helps. Juices and water are best. Try and keep soda out of your diet as much as possible, and you'll be surprised at how much less weight you gain. Cutting out salt will drastically help as well. The more salt you take in, the more 'water weight' you gain.

Replacing things high in fats and salts- (I.e Ramen noodles, Chips, fast food)
with healthy choices -(Salads, Whole grain sandwiches, and fruits) Will not only help control weight, but also helps control Acne, improves the look and feel of your hair, and improve the strength of you nails.
Hope this helps a bit. 😊

snack on heathy foods, and try 5 small meals a day insted of 3 big ones. 😊 and another good thing to have is salad with olive oil. The oil fills you up, and salad is really heathy!

Hope it helps, and good luck! 😊

@hayz salt is NOT a good way to control hunger. Did you know that if you ingest the same amount of salt in a generic salt shaker you will not be able to drink enough water to save your own life? 5 pinches of salt, or even one pinch of salt, dehydrates you, and when you drink more and more water you are only putting on water weight. Not a good idea if you're trying to lose weight.

Eating a few ice cubes or chewing a piece of sugar-free gum helps with hunger, but do not restrict your diet so much that you're constantly hungry. The key is balance. Keep track of your calories in a diary or on a website, and try to stay at or a bit under your goal. Go for a walk or ride a bike for exercise. There are plenty of ways to lose weight.

Wait, isn't that cinnamon?

But it works for me.

Better than reaching down your own throat and make yourself throw up.

The salt upsets the stomach and that ruins your appetite. //Crappylogic

@hayz that isn't a healthy thing to do. And yes, it is with cinnamon as well. The point I was trying to make was that salt dehydrates you, and makes you ill. Why would you want to make yourself ill?

@briseis

I didn't.

I learned that from trying to sneak some salt away from my grandma when I was little.

Try to find fruit and put a little sugar on it if it's not sweet enough already 😊

When I eat junky snacks too much, I just think how disgusting the food is. Such as candy, jellybeans and other things. Do dome research on what they put in those foods and there's a chance that you'll never eat those junk foods again.

This is my personal experience.... So.... I'm not sure if it works for you. I have an eating disorder

@hayz O.O Salt is bad....very bad.... I hardly drink any water so.... I eat little salt

Some good advice here. Thanks, guys.😊

I do love carrot sticks. That's what I usually eat when I want a healthy snack. Those or frozen berries.

Gum goes help me, but it also helps me during the day as I have a nervous habit with grinding my teeth during the day, and gum helps it.

Wow I'm seriously going to try those things XD I feel so fat and unhealthy. since now I'm starting to like salad and sandwiches I want to take advantage of it o3o

1. Instead of eating pizza at school I'll get a ham sandwich

2. instead of eating ramen at home I'll eat a normal size salad.

3. Stop eating my favorite sour candy everyday. ;-;

4. Tell my mother to buy more fruits so I can snack on them instead of chips.

I hope this works and that I can stick to this.. My goal is to get skinnier and take away my acne this summer before school starts again. XP
