I dunno. I've been noticing lately this whole "oldies" thing. I don't get the point. Why classify yourself as something more special then others?Isn't that leaving people feeling left out. ):Why do you make yourself all pinpointed out and say, "I'm an oldie."Aren't we all special here?Or is it just the "oldies" that are special?~Sorry, I'm ranting...again >_>
Orderedchaos • 7 May 2012 at 8:02 PM
@whispers Eh, people just want to feel special. Everyone has a different definition of "oldie" and, of course, they fit it. It's just one of those things I ignore.
trish • 7 May 2012 at 8:03 PM
To me, an "oldie" is just someone that's proud to be with EggCave from the start. ^^ Like me, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse or special attention.
linpug • 7 May 2012 at 8:04 PM
@whispers Well, it really depends on what it takes to be an "oldie". I think it's not a specific age on the account, but how you act, or how well you know about egg cave. 😉I think a way of saying "oldie" is when egg cave was first users on egg cave, who know most about egg cave. 😊Thats just my opinion though. 😉
whispers • 7 May 2012 at 8:05 PM
@orderedchaosI agree with you ^^I've tried to ignore it so long, but when I saw this "Oldies Club" topic while I was looking back at forums. That set me off on this rant >_>@trishI get what you're saying. But when I see an "Oldies Club" it just annoys me how it excludes more than half of the people on the site >_>
trish • 7 May 2012 at 8:08 PM
@whispers I was just thinking that. I'd rather make a list of oldies, then a CLUB. <- Which was a fail, in my opinion. The creator must have been thinking too high of themselves. Ugh. ><
whispers • 7 May 2012 at 8:09 PM
@trishI don't want to say the users name...If you want to know... I'd PM you
april__ • 7 May 2012 at 8:10 PM
@whispersI agree.Just because I'm a 'newbie' doesn't mean I don't support the site and such. And I hope to be here five years from now!
Deleted • 7 May 2012 at 8:12 PM
Just because your new doesn't mean that you don't know things about Egg Cave!
trish • 7 May 2012 at 8:13 PM
@whispers I already know. ._.
whispers • 7 May 2012 at 8:14 PM
@april__Exactly. I love this site, and would NEVER leave. But if I'm still here 5 years from now. And some older people still play, I will won't be considered a "oldie" -_-;But I really don't get the point of making yourself more "special" than others. It's not like that person is a god. They just joined before me.If they tell me, "Oh, I'm an oldie." I want to scream back sarcastically, "OH, BIG DEAL"
taunter • 7 May 2012 at 8:15 PM
an oldie is just a player that's a year or more old.
april__ • 7 May 2012 at 8:15 PM
@whispersExactly! It's not my fault I didn't know the site existed until I saw the eggs on TDN. XD
whispers • 7 May 2012 at 8:17 PM
@april__Exactly!I didn't know about this site until @fluffy told me!
icymuffin • 7 May 2012 at 8:33 PM
Honestly, I've never thought much about the term oldie. o_OI thought it was part of a joke from a long while ago. A couple of us users were talking about how we were on Egg Cave so long, we got old and broke our backs o3oThus the term oldie was born.
raitonchidori • 7 May 2012 at 9:04 PM
@whispers you said all ^^ I agree!
whispers • 8 May 2012 at 6:43 AM
@raintonchidoriYay, two people agree now (:
zafeyry • 8 May 2012 at 6:49 AM
@whispersI also don't get why people who have been here for like 5 months consider themselves newbies xD
whispers • 8 May 2012 at 6:51 AM
@zafeyryYeah o3oI don't get it what people do sometimes XD
zafeyry • 8 May 2012 at 6:52 AM
@whispersSomebody who had 5,000+ posts called themselves a newbie. I almost died xD A newbie is someone who has been on for less than 2 months and has under 500 posts.
whispers • 8 May 2012 at 6:55 AM
@zafeyryYup x)
chrismas123 • 8 May 2012 at 7:17 AM
@Whispers I feel bad for ur gym Teacher too 😋 Don't worry I hit my Tennis Teacher like 3 times with a tennis ball - One on the head,One on the shoulder and one on the crotch XDFor me "Oldie" is when u started like for 2 years already 😊
hedwig68 • 8 May 2012 at 7:23 AM
@zafery@whispers Yeah that was me that called myself newbie. The only reason I called myself that is because I met a few "oldies" and they were all calling my a newb.
pinkred • 8 May 2012 at 7:34 AM
@whispersTo me a newbie is when you first start out on a site.The "oldies" are just baggers.
balletninja • 8 May 2012 at 7:52 AM
It is a title you earn for sticking it out with eggcave. As long as you don't use it negatively, I see nothing wrong with the term.
rileytibbles_side • 8 May 2012 at 8:05 AM
@whispersI have been classified as an oldie. I don't think it makes me special, and I don't think I should get someone's eggs for it, but I agree with @balletninja
pipkitten • 8 May 2012 at 8:32 AM
To me, an oldie is someone who has been here for at least two years. I'm classified as an oldie because I've been here since '09, but I really only use the term when joking around with some of my buddies. *shrug*I've never seen anything wrong with the term unless someone's trying to use it to get someone's creatures/eggs.
balletninja • 8 May 2012 at 9:06 AM
@pipkitten Maybe if you are trying to prove you are loyal when you are trading?But not like special releases only for oldies.
silver_winged • 8 May 2012 at 9:58 AM
"Oldie" is usually applied to users with accounts 2 years or older. It's not a status symbol or an exclusive club. Older users just feel a sense of solidarity, since we've watched the site grow and blossom together. Not all oldies have tons of old, rare eggs or are in the club or are super well-known . . . case in point. TT_TT

@whispers People seem to trust people they have never met with an aged account than they do a new person thy don't know, we are all human, how long we have been on this game does not effect how truthful or trustworthy you are. I myself am a returning player, I have been here much longer than people who consider themselves oldies and probably know a thing or two more than them yet people consider me a newbie cause of my account age. *shrugs* I just don't like that people are deliberately leaving people out, other than that I just ignore it, no sense in making everyone mad!
