I dunno. I've been noticing lately this whole "oldies" thing. I don't get the point. Why classify yourself as something more special then others?
Isn't that leaving people feeling left out. ):
Why do you make yourself all pinpointed out and say, "I'm an oldie."
Aren't we all special here?
Or is it just the "oldies" that are special?
~

Sorry, I'm ranting...again >_>

@whispers Eh, people just want to feel special. Everyone has a different definition of "oldie" and, of course, they fit it. It's just one of those things I ignore.

To me, an "oldie" is just someone that's proud to be with EggCave from the start. ^^ Like me, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse or special attention.

@whispers
Well, it really depends on what it takes to be an "oldie". I think it's not a specific age on the account, but how you act, or how well you know about egg cave. 😉

I think a way of saying "oldie" is when egg cave was first users on egg cave, who know most about egg cave. 😊

Thats just my opinion though. 😉

@orderedchaos
I agree with you ^^
I've tried to ignore it so long, but when I saw this "Oldies Club" topic while I was looking back at forums. That set me off on this rant >_>

@trish
I get what you're saying. But when I see an "Oldies Club" it just annoys me how it excludes more than half of the people on the site >_>

@whispers I was just thinking that. I'd rather make a list of oldies, then a CLUB. <- Which was a fail, in my opinion. The creator must have been thinking too high of themselves. Ugh. ><

@whispers

I agree.

Just because I'm a 'newbie' doesn't mean I don't support the site and such. And I hope to be here five years from now!

Just because your new doesn't mean that you don't know things about Egg Cave!

@april__
Exactly. I love this site, and would NEVER leave. But if I'm still here 5 years from now. And some older people still play, I will won't be considered a "oldie" -_-;
But I really don't get the point of making yourself more "special" than others. It's not like that person is a god. They just joined before me.
If they tell me, "Oh, I'm an oldie." I want to scream back sarcastically, "OH, BIG DEAL"

Honestly, I've never thought much about the term oldie. o_O

I thought it was part of a joke from a long while ago. A couple of us users were talking about how we were on Egg Cave so long, we got old and broke our backs o3o
Thus the term oldie was born.

Somebody who had 5,000+ posts called themselves a newbie. I almost died xD A newbie is someone who has been on for less than 2 months and has under 500 posts.

Yeah that was me that called myself newbie. The only reason I called myself that is because I met a few "oldies" and they were all calling my a newb.

To me a newbie is when you first start out on a site.
The "oldies" are just baggers.

It is a title you earn for sticking it out with eggcave.
As long as you don't use it negatively, I see nothing wrong with the term.

I have been classified as an oldie. I don't think it makes me special, and I don't think I should get someone's eggs for it, but I agree with @balletninja

To me, an oldie is someone who has been here for at least two years. I'm classified as an oldie because I've been here since '09, but I really only use the term when joking around with some of my buddies. *shrug*
I've never seen anything wrong with the term unless someone's trying to use it to get someone's creatures/eggs.

@pipkitten Maybe if you are trying to prove you are loyal when you are trading?
But not like special releases only for oldies.

"Oldie" is usually applied to users with accounts 2 years or older. It's not a status symbol or an exclusive club. Older users just feel a sense of solidarity, since we've watched the site grow and blossom together. Not all oldies have tons of old, rare eggs or are in the club or are super well-known . . . case in point. TT_TT

@whispers
People seem to trust people they have never met with an aged account than they do a new person thy don't know, we are all human, how long we have been on this game does not effect how truthful or trustworthy you are.

I myself am a returning player, I have been here much longer than people who consider themselves oldies and probably know a thing or two more than them yet people consider me a newbie cause of my account age. *shrugs* I just don't like that people are deliberately leaving people out, other than that I just ignore it, no sense in making everyone mad!
