Dearest Egg Cave

Has anyone else noticed how it seems like Egg Cave isn't as active as it once was?
It seems like the activity level of Egg Cave has dropped substantially recently.
There used to always be lots of people online in the forums, chatting and having fun. But now it seems like the forums have died off a bit.
I don't know if it's just because of the time I'm on, or because people are busy with school work and preparing to Graduate or what it is, but it's sad.

The other thing is that I've seen more people quitting.
I understand people have to quit for various reasons, but it's always upsetting to see people leave. Sure new people join, but I see older users being rude to these new users and then they don't tend to stick around.
I know I always try to welcome new people.

Maybe we need some more new features so people will stay on.
I think it would be fun to add a game or two.
Like a memory game with eggs.
I'm not suggesting it I'm just saying maybe that would help.

Maybe we'll be more active again next month, when most people are off from school for summer break.

I agree with your whole post, I noticed that a bit too, though I am not on much as I want too, I do see it. Whenever I am online daily, I sort of see the same threads as the day before or the same people post threads and reply to them and not different people. I think its school that is keeping some people off, its the end of the year so everything is going fast, at least for me.

I agree, eggcave needs more contests/events, either user-made or Ian-made 😋 Hopefully more people are around during the summer days 😊

Not that I like it, but:
The more people join,
The more people there are,
If roughly the same percentage quit each year,
More people quit.

I am a newer player but I agree with what you are saying. I often she players that have been on for awhile being rude to newer players. I also see users who have just joined quit. It makes me sad to see all these people leave. I try and welcome new users too but sometimes don't have time. I do also agree that we need an event. Like Code Yeep which everyone has been waiting on forever now. 😊

Yes that was my thought.
It's the end of the school year so people must be getting busier.
At least it's my hopes people are just busy with school and that people will start to be more active come summer.

I'd love to see some kind of game like memory.
Or something like..pin the tail on the raicorn.
That would be amusing.

Yeah lots of people quit.
Or the new users don't hang around long.
I've seen some of the new users like it and stay but some seem to only hang around for a few days or a week then fade away again.
Sad.

Yeah I don't understand why older users are being rude.
I'm not saying all of them are, most are nice. I'm one of the older users and I don't get it. It's not like Egg Cave is some kind of Cult.
Ian must be so busy right now.
With looking for a couple new Moderators, cleaning up bugs.
Maybe once he gets the new Moderators we'll see some more updates and events.

For me, it's because of school. ;A; Darned AP tests.

But I think we notice it more now because there's a forum. Forum = place to say you're quitting + place for people to notice. So I suppose that could be one reason.
I remember though, it's not as bad as it was two summers ago. It was REALLY bad then. Only 1 blog. And hours could pass between each post. For Egg Cave to be close to death, then it would have to be like that again. {At least I half hope so}


I think that the only thing we need is a more connected community. I mean about 2+ years ago, we didn't have much of a problem with Egg Cave without games. We had friends & a lot of people knew each other. ^^
Just a thought though.

Yeah I don't get why they have to be rude. I mean they were new once too, right? Also I do hope that once he gets the new moderators he will begin Code Yeep. I am extatic to see what Code Yeep has in store for us! 😃

@shelby: Yea, its that time of year for state tests/end of course/semester tests and people are studying and such. I just took my state test 2 weeks ago and now Im being hit with a bunch of tests in a row trying to finish up in 2 weeks. Its hectic.

I wish the site trivia was back, that was fun 😋 Pin the tail on the raicorn would be epic! xD Poor raicorn though

I remember those days.
Watching the blog to see if someone has posted or not.
I still check the blog sometimes. But now I mainly watch the Forums.
It seemed like it was more active a couple of months ago.
So I think it must just be school.

Exactly, we were all once new. Why not be nice.
Yeah I'm thinking more things will happen once he hires them.
More help to watch the site and handle reports and other tickets will free up his time to do more site related updates.

Oh gosh.
I remember the state tests here.
Although they were always easy for me and I didn't need to study. The teachers would always say things like "These tests will be difficult" "This is the hardest part of the year".
So I'd get all stressed and then see the test and it's not that hard.

Yeah too bad the site trivia is gone now.
Maybe Ian will start that again once he gets the new Moderators.
I would love Pin the tail on the Raicorn.
But my thought would be of it spinning in a circle and you have to try and get it just right.
Depending on how close you get to the spot you need you'd get some good EC.

I am now not considered a newbie, about a week ago.
Mostly, I've been on Egg Cave, but I still have a lot of stuff to do. Exams, tests, other school-related things that take a lot of my time and devotion from Egg Cave.

I've noticed some people still having lots of school things but are frequently on anyway. I enjoy that.
I'm glad I'm no longer in school. Although even when I was I was on from the time I got home until I had to go to bed.

I completely agree! I have seen a huge decline in posts and such.

And I always try and welcome new users! I remember what it felt like to be new. It wasn't that long ago. I really only started playing a month ago and needed lots of help/advice.

I think you got something wrong.. O-o I was just reading past comments and Your posts makes me think Ian was the one that started code yeep. But It was actually Zac and eggcavern.. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying. ^^' and the one cubexline was talking about was a different yeep puzzle/plot. Code yeep hasn't started yet. (:

It feels that way to me, too!

I joined in December, then forgot about EggCave and randomly came back the ending of March. So a month and a half I guess.

Either way, I'm loving it. And I've met some really nice people. But I have come across some rude people as well.

I'm supposed to be mature but when people snap at me, or are rude to me, I'm the same way back. I treat others how they treat me. It can lead to some problems sometimes. XD

@hedwig68: @yogurt is right, zac and the eggcavern crew made a plot, but I'm thinking it wont be out anytime soon, or not at all. But there was another plot called "code yeep" and thats what I thought you were referring too.

I guess it can seem longer when you like something.

If someone is rude, I just ignore them.
Or if they break a rule I just report them and then ignore.
I don't like to be rude, no matter what.

But I won't go out of my way to be rude to someone, in fact, unless someone is rude to me I'm very nice to everyone.
