I was joking around with my friends, and one of them declared, "I am going to sit down."

So I pulled the chair from under her so she would land on a pile of jackets. But when she fell, she started crying.

I apologized many times, it was something my friends would usually do. But she told me she cracked her tailbone, and when I did that to her, it either cracked a bit more or hurt it.

But during lunch, she entered the room I was practicing my instrument in, when I was avoiding her since I knew there was a punishment.

She said "It's not your fault, but I told my mom and she overreacted. She said she'll write a letter and tell the dean. She'll try to find you. And maybe you'll have to pay for it."

I had NO idea she cracked her tailbone before. Pulling the chair from people is what my friend does alot, but I never meant to hurt her. So I started crying, because for this joke, it cost me too much. I cried till the end of school, and quickly avoided her. But her friends say that 'it'll be okay' & 'we're on your side'.

But it still isn't.

@Trish A similar thing happened in my previous school and the kid cracked her spine ;.; The parents were more understanding though realising that it was an accident and the harm was unintentional, but still tragic v.v ☹️ Hope everything goes well for you

@trish
Nothing bad should really happen. At the most it shouldn't even be suspension. Unless your school is harsh. But i get how you are feeling

@Trish
I'm sorry to hear that.
I think her mom has overreacted.
I would play jokes on my friend similar to this when I still had a friend.

I'm sure this will work itself out.
You didn't know her tailbone was cracked already.
Just try not to worry.

I'm sure her mother would understand that it was a joke,
it was a friendly joke, not meant to hurt anyone, you hadn't known that she had broken her tailbone in the first place, if you had that would've never happened.
Her mother is clearly overreacting.

I've had this situation happen once before, but it hadn't led to something so serious. Just don't worry about it too much, I'm sure overtime things will change.

You shouldn't assume that just because your friend does it it's acceptable to do it to others. Joke or not, it's very serious.

@briseis It is, but I didn't know it was cracked in the first place.

@Trish

I think her mom WAY overreacted O_O I mean, she wasn't seriously injured, right? It was simply a joke, and you didn't know she cracked her tailbone. Perhaps talk to her mother, I think it's a little TOO MUCH to write a letter to the dean. It was an accident! You didn't do it intentionally to hurt her ☹️

Don't worry about it too much, hun. It'll be ok 😊 over time, It'll die down.
