I have to dissect a frog tomorrow in science. I don't wanna☹️ My mom doesn't really care about my suffering. Has anyone here done it? If so, please don't tell me anything bad about it ( it will sink into my brain forever and I'll have a nervous breakdown tonight *_*)
What's some stuff that makes it not so bad? Are there any upsides? I NEED REASSURANCE!
*breaks down*

@rileytibbles_side

It's just a frog, It isn't ugly inside. You just slide the knife and tell: "I'm sorry God for killing this inocent Frog... CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES!!! YUMMY!" and you'll forget about all you dislike about it.

@calla
I know its just a frog and all that, but it still seems gross... They're already dead when you get them so I won't have to kill it. But still...

I feel for you. :c I had to do it in 6th grade...and me and @pegasasu were working in a group together, then some people vomited during the process.
I barely made it out alive.
So bring in a mask, goggles, gloves, and air freshener [ to make your clothes not smell yucky afterwards] x]

I did it earlier this year (7th grade) and I was fine. My trick: Don't think of it as a real frog. Think of it as a very realistic rubber model. πŸ˜‹

For me it wasn't that bad because my lab partner wanted to do most of the work. So all I really had to do was pin down the skin (which sounds worse than it is) there is no blood or anything and if you concentrating on learning you can try to view it as an educational rather than scarring experience.

Honestly, to me, dissecting sounds fun. 😊 We're dissecting owl pellets sometime this week (eek! Can't wait!), and then sometime a cow's eye. A frog probably, too.

ThankFatherandMotherforonlineschoolrofl

I'm going to have to so a lot of gross stuff in vet school. So it's really just procrastination on my part.

Waahhh. I'm sorry for your pain.

The only thing that will really bother me in vet school is the dissecting of animals. Why not learn the basic biology online, and then dissect an animal that mysteriously died and try to figure out why it died; not raise something just to be cut open for information you can easily obtain from books or online resources. May be the Wicca in me talking, but that's just wasteful in my eyes.

@Rileytibbles_side I heard that next year, in seventh grade, we get to dissect frogs and rats. ^^ Personally I think it's a lot of fun. On Friday in math we watched a vid about crocodiles. They were dissecting it and everyone was creeped out and I was just like: "Oh, cool!"

I'm looking forward to dissecting something. Besides, it's not like you have to kill it, they're already dead before you get them. ;D

@Go4ward My mom bought calamari one time, the entire squid. So we dissected them to prepare them for cooking.
We dissected owl pellets in the fourth grade too. ^^

I had to dissect a rat during the first year of my biology bachelor, I'd say don't worry about it being really gross, because it doesn't look that gross. The worst thing was the smell, so the best advise I can give you is to make sure you eat enough at least an hour before or so, so you're not hungry/bloated when you go at it, believe me, not a good idea...

@rileytibbles_side

my friend told me this:
the insides only looked like computer parts. the worst thing is the smell.

@rileytibbles_side EWHHH!!
But it REALLY helps if you wear your goggles upside-down. You can't smell anything, but you can still breathe through your nose, and it's actually way more comfortable. πŸ˜ƒ
Was your frog a boy or a girl?
