Egg Cave Pets Creativity

in General

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 10:28 AM

Ummmm... I'm terrible with first posts >.<

(Get to the point, Black!) <----- Me thinking to myself O^O

I think that Egg cave creatures should not be based on any animal. I understand fish, and I know that there has to be some lion creatures and wolf creatures and stuff, but there are too many creatures based on other animals! Look at the Iramae. What the fudgekins is it?! And the Tine! What is it? And Bragon! You get the point.

All the same, I think it isn't cool to say that all the new pets are terrible. Some pets (Foo, Florn, Blu, Brownil, etc.) are just pretty much an animal (Foo, Florn) or an animal with a small addition (Brownil has a scarf, Blu has a basket of stuff.). Yus.

I suck at ending the topic too >.<

@blackdeathkitty
Agree. Ish. In some ways. But not in others. πŸ˜‹
I don't agree that the creatures shouldn't even be BASED on an animal, but I do think that the creatures should involve more creativity.
Like the Brohu is feline-ish, but it's not exactly a cat.
And Arnmnae aren't quite lions, either.
But you're certainly right, Foos and Blus and Brownils took no creativity at all to make. I disapprove of that. πŸ˜‹

@blackdeathkitty

I'd say it's a good point - non-animal-based creatures are cool and interesting 😊

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 11:23 AM

@cqpkytty I think it is okay for some to be based off of animals, but not all.

@bunnyshadow O^O Iramaes are a little scary...

@mika_milile I luv ranting! It is fun πŸ˜ƒ

What do you think about this creature idea? http://www.eggcave.com/forums/topic/21311

Do you think it's too alike a real animal? πŸ˜‹

Iramaes are scary...I love Iramaes ❀️ ^.^

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 11:39 AM

@marie_lily It could have some more unique properties. But it looks nice. Just the whole 'king of bird thing' is a little over-used. There are too many top predators. There should be more birds that are prey instead of predators.

@blackdeathkitty

but the creature's should be like animals at least sometimes, not never.😱

@bunnyshadow

my budgie freaked out when i showed him the iramae.xD
and now he scares me when he flies over me!D;

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 12:14 PM

@sanibel_18 Sometimes, but not all the time. I understand fish, dog animals, birds, cat animals and stuff, but every creature based off of an animal gets a little un-creative :/

@blackdeathkitty

yeah, but i think every creature should have just a little tiny bit of animal in it.😊
then it will be cute and creative.😸

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 12:19 PM

@sanibel_18 Yep, but look at the Tine. WTF(udge) is it? Seriously. What is it based on?

I've seen a lot of creature suggestions were the creature just looks like a cat or a dog It bothers me.

@blackdeathkitty

i thin you need to look at the details. but people see it different. i remember that someone though that the tine was a dog. but i think it's a cat!

some people just don't like fantasy creature's.Then they make just a normal animal but add a little extra too it.And Ian like's it so he makes them!>.<

...You know, if you take the number of basically-real creatures and compare it to the number of everything else, the real ones outnumber the rest by 3. Over half of them are real/almost real.

@sanibel_18

I guess that is your opinion. I respect that, but I have a different opinion.

Let's just agree to disagree πŸ˜ƒ

I think the Tine needs no explination. Pretty epic as it is without knowing what it's based on ;D

But the birds... I love them birds. You can create so many creatures off of them since there are so many kinds of birds πŸ˜ƒ {But yeah... after some time it's going to get repetative :I }

But then the thing is, haven't you noticed that the based/kinda based on real animals are somewhat more popular? o3o

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 1:20 PM

@icymuffin I understand birds, because an Island without birds is crazy. But the birds should be INSANELY MAGNIFICENTLY CREATIVE.

I don't like hatched Blus. They aren't very creative :/ Just a bluebird/jay with a basket :/ But Blu eggs are preeeetttyyy @.@

I try to make random ones, but they are never chosen. I can bump them up if you wanna see them. I like rare animals if they have to be animals. Like my corsal. Wow, I am so not modest xD

@blackdeathkitty

I second your notion! :I

The Blu eggs ARE❀️
But the hatched... not so much... ><"
Honestly, I'd prefer them without the basket, though it'd look like just a Bluejay I guess. :/

Deleted • 28 May 2012 at 1:31 PM

@balletninja I want to see them! I agree, if pets are based off of something, it should be a rare animal.

@icymuffin Without the basket they would just be a bluejay. But it would be prettier without a basket.

If you think about it another way, Egg Cave creatures /are/ animals, and are all based on (or, perhaps I should say influenced by) animals in some way or another. However, I believe we would have better creatures if we were to focus less on basing suggestions on a single animal and instead using animal qualities to create something new and creative.

Another idea would be to base creatures on specific types of animals with more unique qualities. Of course, some suggestions might be based on a broader species of animal while others may be based on a more specific type, leaving less room for creativity depending on how loosely you'd like to base your suggestion on it. This is most likely the reason suggestions are primarily based on the same types of animals such as cats or birds: an animal such as the dragon is very broad, so you can be more creative, while the same might not be true for a more specific animal species. When focusing on a broad animal type, it may be hard to find new types that haven't been used on Egg Cave yet.

As stated above, however, creatures do not have to be based so tightly on an animal. As we all know, Egg Cave is an adoptable site focusing on unique, creative creatures instead of existing ones. Therefore, I believe it would be ideal to have a variety of creatures, which would be best achieved with more suggestions that are new, influenced by animal(s) but not based completely on one. :]
