Warning. This is a rant.

Today was my second-last day of school (yay!). Normally, I would be very happy and energetic about it.
If it weren't for the award ceremony the teachers held. For every award category (ex. "effort"), each teacher of a core subject (ex. English) gave the student who "deserved" it an award.

Not to brag or complain or anything, but I deserved one. I spent four hours editing a English project once, and I set really high goals for myself. I have had all A+'s in English for every term this year. My grades are extremely important to me, to the point where I cried yesterday because I got a B on my science project. I worked hard enough to get into honor classes in two subjects next year. I spend hours doing my homework, last week I started my Social Studies project at 3 pm and finished at 1:45 am. Guess what? I didn't get an award.

Guess who did get an award? TWO of them, actually. This kid who doesn't take school seriously, and just doesn't care about his education.
This year he totally stalked @Dreamer and I's friend group. .__. He's kinda scary.

continued...

By the way, on a happier note, at least ONE person got what they deserved. @Dreamer , you may not think it but you totally deserved getting that award. You were great!

Note: I know that this rant sounds really conceited, and such, but if you're meeting me for the first time, that's not how I usually act. I'm just kinda upset because my work isn't being recognized, and it's the end of school, I'm stressed and annoyed. I'm so sorry you had to read my self-centered thoughts.

Deleted • 15 June 2012 at 3:59 PM

@scarlettsong hmmm even though you had really good marks its more of the participation and how much you are dedicated to the subject, regardless of how high marks are it is the dedication that teachers like I mean I know your upset, but I guess who ever they are must have love english a lot I mean a lot like talk 24/7 about it and even though their mark may not be high they might have deserved it due to interest XD Maybe

@Pupcat

I didn't talk about it a lot, though I did dedicate a lot to the subject & participate a lot in class discussions.

If that's true then the teachers must be really biased XD
...doesn't surprise me. One of the teacher's pets won a few.

(Hey, just sayin', have you heard of the font called "pupcat", like your username? Sorry, I just love fancy fonts 😋 )

Deleted • 15 June 2012 at 4:47 PM

@scarlettsong no not really but cool font after this neat, well then maybe they are cause if you have always been involve then what ever the person did to get the award must have done something nice for a teacher or teachers pet it LOL

I feel your pain. At my schools award ceremony kids got awards for 2.5 GPA or CPA. Honestly. All you need for a 2.5 CPA is show up occasionally.

@Scarlettsong Josh is such a creeper. ._. Do you know what two awards he got? "Great Gains," for making the most improvement, and then the second one for getting a good score on the National science test thing. And Caitlin, when I mention that the first award he got was for improvement, he still had ROOM for improvement, lots of it! You're already good enough, so you didn't need to improve that way. ^^ They're probably just saying that he went from a C to a B in science, that's what it means.

I was happy about my award, and I'd feel exactly like you do if I didn't win it. But this seems so important to you, and if anything, you deserve this award more than I do. But I do agree, Josh didn't deserve an award, especially not two.

I'll tell you who DID deserve their awards. Allen, and Parker, and even Monique and Tatianna, I was cheering for them, because they deserve it as well.

You only care so much about your grades because you CARE, in general. I had a panic attack when I had a 79 in Spanish second term. But it was bumped up to an 87, and now I'm an honor student for the full year, like you!

Helen and I have seen how hard you work, and I know exactly how you feel. Trust me, you're being recognized for your work. 😊

Just give yourself a pat on the back for finishing this year on a high note. It was a very tough nine months. ;D

When Caitlin is sad, I'm sad! Cheer up. You did amazingly well. Your achievements don't need to be printed on paper for people to see that.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get that award. ☚ī¸

@Dreamer

MY BROTHERS NAME IS JOSH! 😃

He's a creeper too. O.o

@Scarlettsong

I hate the kids who get those classes with resource teachers, not because they're not as smart as me, but because those teachers give them all the freakin answers and then they wonder why they do bad on the OAA. Oh, I wonder.

Caitlin, his awards won't mean anything in a couple of years, but the good grades you got will. Cheer up, you don't need an award to know you did good(:

@schusteralex2

I know exactly what you mean!

@Dreamer

Aww, thanks 😊 Yes, Parker and Allen did deserve there's, and same with the others. They really work hard. I was cheering for them, too 😸

I'm feeling better now, I just had a bagel and my family bought me a fancy new purse 😊 (I've needed a bigger one for a while now. The Vera Bradley is tiny)

@Dawnfur

Thank you so much 😊

...and the Josh at are school is a total creeper. He follows us everywhere. He's creepy >.<

@Dawnfur

LOL. He seems to like me, Dani, and one other friend. He tries to get our attention and sit as close to us as possible. We keep trying to hint for him to get lost, but he won't. >.> He's not very bright... xD

@Scarlettsong

My attic is available for use. My bf is always able to creep someone out, one week in my attic he won't sit near you all ever again. Or anyone else... xD

@Dawnfur Jacob can creep ANYONE out, except for me. Because Dani is too awesome. ^^

Lol, your attic is a very effective method. I mean look what it did to Ben, he's freaking moving way this year. XD

@Scarlettsong Feel better? That's good. 😊

And remember, getting a piece of paper with your name on it in the sixth grade doesn't effect you in high school or college. And in highschool, the rewards are less frequent, but much larger (like clubs, scholarships, et catera). Sure, it's a boost of self-confidence for a week or two, but it doesn't have a major impact, ya know?

Would you want to be:
a.) A hard-working student who may not seem ot recognized, but has great success in her future?
or
b.) A student who slacks off and spends his time in school getting awards for "improvement," leading him to think he's better than he his and being given NO hope for a great future?

I won't say I'm not proud of myself for getting an award in English, but NOT getting an award doesn't make a differrence. Getting ten awards in a day, though, now that would just be WRONG.

But anywayys, are you coming for the last day of school on Monday? X3 Just wonderin'.

@Dreamer

YEP! THAT'S MY JACOB! XDDDD

If he really tried, he might... No. Your uncreepable. I mean.. You're friends with me(:

@scarlettsong

SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY. I'M also really mad because I got a B in English when, on every project this semester, I got an A or A+. And no one say I didn't participate because I DID.

@scarlettsong

Don't worry, I kind of know how you feel. My school did the same thing (So happy I can use the past tense when referring to "my school" now, though! 😋). I didn't get any awards either. Well, I did get nominated for the Spanish one, but...there were literally 3 people in the class--the one kid never did his projects. I didn't even get the scholarship I applied for, which bothered me a lot at first, but now I'm over it.

It is a crappy feeling, though.☚ī¸

My grades were very important to me, too. I was terrified I wasn't going to graduate with any academic distinctions, but I ended up wearing the gold sash down the aisle at graduation. Wasn't the top, but was near it.

Your hard work will pay off.

PS to @Dawnfur: OAA? You are buckeye, aren't you? 😱
