TERRARIA HELP ME

I was fighting Skeletron and he only had around 300 health left but day came and I died. I had so many good items and I went to get them back but I was knocked down a chasm and I couldn't escape, so I saved and exited, it took me half an hour to get to the dungeon so I don't want to waste my time going back if my items won't be there. My question is, will the items still be there?

@crooton1 If you exit items on the ground disappear.

Edit: Skeletron is crazy a crazy hard boss fight. Although Wall of Flesh sucks too. >.<

Dang it. I beat skeletron within a minute before, on a seperate world, just to test. I had been mining meteorite, (for it had landed RIGHT beside the door) and it was around 3 AM when I started. I got cocky of my last victory and decided to take out both hands with no set up or flattened ground and then take his head. I only had 250 ammo for my minishark, which I didn't notice, and then got killed...

On a different note: Found any floating islands yet?

Yep, no keys though, I had already wasted it in the dungeon before 😋
