Pings: On/Off

I'm not one of those people who hate getting pinged. Its just that it would be nice if we could control whether we wanted to get notifications/pings and such.

Its just a simple idea. There would be a button, where you could control the pings, on and off. With the pings off, it would mean that the little boxes when you are pinged will not show up at the side, but will still show up on the "Notifications".

I imagine that the pings could be either controlled in 'Edit profile' or "Preferences".

Any thing I've missed? More ideas? Post them here!

EDIT: We should also be able to only close certain notifications. Here's a list:

Turn off all notifications
Turn off all pings
Turn off creature notifications
Turn off Wall notifications
Turn off Friend Request Notifications
Turn off notifications in the _____ forum
Turn off Private Message notifications
Turn off subscription notifications

I love this idea. Would be awesome to switch off pings if you knew you'd be gone for a while and didn't want to come back to a swarm of notifications popping up.

Except now that I think of it.. you wouldn't receive any notifications about your creature evolving whatsoever either... Hm. Maybe... you could turn off certain notifications while have the other on at the same time?

But you said just ping. like only on forums. If this is the case, you would still receive notification when your creature evolved.

I meant, like, I've just had a new thought if I could turn off notifications in general, not just pings and such.

Maybe you could even choose which pings you wanted in the forum. Ex. Turn off the chitchat pings and leave everything else on XP

A ping is this: @insert_username_here. It creates a notification for that user. 😊 So if you want them to come to this topic, they'll get notified.
