when death became a reality to you....

in Chit-Chat

I'm just interested to know when death became more real for some people. For me it was when I realized tht my cat was getting old and that he was going to be gone soon. Now I try to live every day to it's fullest even if i'm sick. You live once and life is short and precious so you should live everyday like it's your last.

@hay7199 the horrible way to realize it is when loved ones or a pet you really loved dies.

@himaja read the above and don't agree that it's true? That is one of the most horrible ways to realize?

Death and I have been close aqcuaintances (failed spelling) since I was... I don't know, 5? I remember waking up on my 5th birthday. I was sad to turn 5, because I knew I was getting older and that I could never be four years old again.

I can remember many days when I was 8 years old, and I'd jump out of bed in the middle of the night and burst into tears. I'd tell my mom that I was afraid to grow up, and that I was afraid of dying.

Right now I'm almost 13, and I still feel the way. Except, now I'm happy to grow up, since I've been dealing with maturity since I was 10 years old. I've gotten used to my own body the way it is. I can't change it, no matter how hard I may try. Some days now, I'll cry myself to sleep. I feel like death is right around the corner for me, and I don't feel like I've bene fulfilled. What about my goals? Scholarships? Careers? Dreams?
Other days, I will cry because my life isn't ending soon enough.

I was talking to my friend earlier about wanting to die, and she said, "But you have your friends, and you have me, and I live for you. Doesn't that make you happy that you have friends who live for you?" I love my friends. They are so supportive. 😊 However, I never stop to recognize that unless I'm in a good mood.

So to sum everything up, I don't plan to die any time soon. However, I still take death very seriously, because I have lost people (and animals) before. Mother Nature is a cruel mistress, but the best thing we can do is fulfill ourselves.

When I was four and diagnosed with Diabetes.
Today, I'm 16.
But I don't believe I'll make it past age 40...
I've done too much damage to my body.

It's been reality to me forever. For as long as I can remember. No tragedies happened to make me feel that way, but yes.

But I'm not afraid of death. I don't feel like it's such a bad thing. I like sleep; it's like eternal sleep. (; Well, for as far as I know.

Besides, what's the point of living your whole life in fear? No, you're technically not even living if you're afraid of dying all of the time. You have to do everything fun, and not waste what you have.

I don't know what's after life, but I don't plan on knowing anytime soon! 😃

And, I'll be honest, I HAVE thought of suicide, and about dying and stuff... But I realize that I have family, friends, and pets who need me. There's more to life than yourself.

This is making me cry, I hate it when people bring up death and actually mean all of it. My dad died on my birthday, thats why I was all sad. I just hope this topic closes soon, no offense...

Deleted • 20 September 2012 at 7:45 PM

@pebbelstar-nightclan death doesn't scare me because I know i'll go to heaven and be perfectly happy.

@iceyfira I didn't mean for it to bring sadness to anyone..... I'm sorry I made this topic.

Sometimes I wish that we could live forever. But we can't. I have an Indian background although I was born in NYC, we have a book of teachings sort of like the Bible called the Mahabarata and Bagawhat geeta. There is a saying in it "Putina manishiki maranum thapathu, alagae...........it basically means that one who is born will die, and that one that dies will be reborn again. It is a beautiful saying.

What really breaks my heart is like somepeople who know they will die in a week, are happier than everyone. They live there life to the fullest and spend every moment laughing and singing and caring for others.

I'm on the verge of crying right now, so I'll stop.

@iceyfira tell the mod that you ask that I gave you permission because I felt like I would get in trouble for creating the topic if I asked. Thanks.

I've always known death existed, even if I couldn't comprehend it.

Now that I'm older (15) I realize that you never know whats going to happen. Every time I have a birthday, the night before I go to bed thinking "this is the last time I will ever go to sleep at this age." Same with New Years.

Though I have been fortunate to not yet lose someone close to me, I know that the reality is that it is inevitable.

So I say spend as much time as you can with your loved ones. And remember, for every minute you are frowning, sad or unhappy, that's one minute gone that you could have spent smiling.

@izzfred I'm lucky, my cat Tocer is still living. After 26 years of life, the highest record was 27 years. Let's see if my cat can top that. My cat is actually older then me, I've seen my cat get lazy by year. The older you are, the lazier you are.

@izzfred I've understood death for the longest time. My mom's sister had died when she was taking a bath; She was very ill and she wasn't thinking straight so she drowned herself. She was also very young when this happened. ☹️

My dog, Moses, is also turning old. I remember him from when I was 5.
He also had his neck twisted or something when he was outside with my other dog, Riley. My mom thinks the other Neighbor's dogs must have opened a gape in the fences and Moses stuck his head in there then Riley had jumped on the fence, closing it on Moses and twisting his neck.
So now Moses's neck is all messed up and he cannot turn his head another way; Yesterday he could barely walk or jump and he couldn't even look straight, But now he can look a little straight but not the other way as I had just said.

I dont feel sorry for myself. I just dont like talking about actual deaths. :/ Im not looking at the video though. Sorry.

Deleted • 21 September 2012 at 10:08 AM

@candyluver you first realized it the hard way. Losing your aunt.
@fakeworld your cat is older than my cat. My cat is 13 or 67 in cat years and still as playful as a kitten although he tires quickly which is what makes me happy.
@ems It's nice to realize it through being taught whether it was a book or a class in school because then you don't know death through the tradgedy of someone you loved.

@izzfred 😊Yeah. I read it on my own. You should read it, it's a very good book. I found it comforting in a way. It's about a little boy who almost dies, but says he went to heaven and saw his grandpa, God, Jesus and his little sister who died before she was born.

@izzfred Yeah.
Moses was also very playful before his neck got twisted. Even before his neck got twisted he was hurting, probably from his older bones, or something.

Deleted • 21 September 2012 at 10:15 AM

@ems yes heaven is a wonderful place full of love and care. Those who died of sickness will not have to suffer anymore. It will be a great weight lifted off of my heart when I go to heaven. Do you know why?

@candyluver maybe if he starts to suffer to much you should put him to sleep. Then he would have an end to his suffering.

Death became a reality to me when I was 4. My grandpa was my favorite person. I had so much fun with him. I would always help take care of his mini pony. Then he just...died. I didn't remember much of him. But his ashes sit in our home .A.
