I think you must differ between the Manga and Anime greatly.
For example I love the One Piece Manga but I can't stand the One Piece Anime at all.
I think to say that an Anime is great it takes more than just thinking 'hey, that's funny'. You have to take into account just how much the Anime sticks to the Manga's story, how well it is drawn and animated, whether the soundtrack fits etc.

There are two Animes that come to my mind immediately.
First:
Fairy Tail. The animation is great and fits the characters and story + the story exactly follows the Manga 99% of the time. No useless and thoughtless fillers and stuff. It's just really beautiful and has a great soundtrack too.

And second:
Magi - The labyrinth of magic.
That's a pretty new one, started this year and I can only recommend it to everyone. The 1001-Nights feeling is there from the beginning, animation is flawless and sometimes (purposely) funny. It's colorful, just like such a fantastic world should be and the music only underlines it.

Okay, I'll stop talking now. But really, Fairy Tail and Magi are some of the best Animes in my opinion.

If the dubbed version is legit- I'm just wondering why it isn't on animefreak.tv

That's a pretty big/popular website.

@magenta

The name Kiba or Kiba's personality? 😱 haha
And sometimes I feel like I should try Naruto but then again meh.

Oh my gosh, I just read Kimi no Todoke. I was having feels the whole way and trying to hug/slap Sada- err.. Sawako.
I was reading it online, apparently it's still in progress? I couldn't get past chapter 81. :/
Plus I have all this manga to-read on my GR. I seriously need to get around to read those.

Deleted • 16 August 2013 at 8:40 PM

@tarepanda

Both and the movies XD
I read + watched the original one now I'm watching brotherhood but only got to the first few episodes. They're both awesome.

I cried so much especially with what Toboe & Tsume went through towards the end. I really don't cry easily but man, I could barely read the subtitles because my eyes just wouldn't stop.

Ergo Proxy has a really similar hopeless world coming to an end theme to it but I'd say it's a bit more mature too. It has nearly as much blood and sad moments as Wolf's Rain as well. I liked it a lot.

I also really liked Natsume Yuujinchou but I want a season 5 to be made. XD It's my calming anime, a real feel good one all around.

Oh shout out to Fairy Tail & Bleach!

Shingeki no Kyojin is by far the best anime I have ever watched, although Puella Magi Madoka Magica does compare to it. They're both on par, I suggest you watch both, despite the fact that PMMM is a magical girl show.

@hetaliafangirl99

Well for one it's really gorey.

Ahaha, I guess I'll just copy and past wikipedia's summary because my own will probably hold 53905839054 spoilers.

One hundred years prior to the beginning of the story, giant humanoid creatures called Titans (?? Kyojin?) have forced humanity to devolve to a medieval level of technology and to retreat into a system of concentric Walls (???? W?ru?) known as Wall Maria (???????? W?ru Maria?, outermost), Wall Rosé (???????? W?ru R?ze?, middle), and Wall Sina (???????? W?ru Sh?na?, innermost).

(sentence deleted for spoilers)

Little is known about the Titans, giant creatures that are usually between 3-15 meters tall with a few exceptions. The Titans instinctively attack and devour ordinary humans on sight. However, they apparently do not need to feed to survive, as they do not prey on other animals, even with the long absence of humans, and can survive by absorbing sunlight. They have hard skin and regenerative abilities, and can only be killed by a deep incision on the base of the neck. This weakness led to the development of the 3-D Maneuver Gear (?????? Rittai Kid? S?chi?), allowing humans to navigate quickly in a three-dimensional space to access the Titans' weak point. Although it allows great mobility to a skilled user, it carries a large risk of overtaxing the muscles, requiring special physical conditioning and a sense of balance to master it.

Yep! The drama was made already in 2005. So it's not so new thing.

so Im a little personally offended that no one's said Sailor Moon yet, but thats ok, not everyone's into magical girl shows. there is just some really good and natural character development in the series and it means a lot to me.

although I am kind of surprised no one has mentioned evangelion yet. or maybe Im just way to old to be here.

but heck yeah, Shingeki no Kyojin is great. A+ anime right there. also A+ manga with A+ art evolution.

if you're looking for a nice comedy anime I recommend Tsuritama. its light-hearted and fun but still manages to have a serious conflict. also fishing. silly boys fishing. its so dumb its great.

and then there's Bunny Drop, a slice of life about a 30 year old guy who takes in a little kid and its really cute and the opening is great please watch it its only 11 episodes.

and Denno Coil. no one else has heard of Denno Coil and its such a shame its so great. there's an episode where everyone grows sentient beards what other reason do you need to watch it.
