A scenario for fun.Edited: Aliens have arrived on Earth. Are they peaceful or are they hostile? We don't know yet. They have yet to make contact. Until they do, what are you going to do?P.S. Yes I am aware I accidentally misspelled aliens in the title of this topic. =p
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 3:56 PM
Well, if they're invading, I doubt they'll be friendly. π
Deleted • 6 October 2012 at 3:57 PM
@MeteoroidAnd why do you say that?
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 3:58 PM
@siri Because you used the term 'invading'. That generally means you are forcefully entering something or some place with the possible intent of conquest.

@MeteoroidTrue, true. My bad abilities with the English language strikes again. =p I guess I'll change that wording then. Stand by for an edit to the question.
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:06 PM
@siri You're fine. I'd edit the topic's title if I was able to do so.But to answer your question, I always imagined that first contact would be generally peaceful. If an alien race wanted to take over Earth for natural resources, there are plenty of dead planets and meteors they can mine through. I always just imagined the interaction between two sentient species to be full of curiosity and research rather than warfare.

@MeteoroidI agree in many respects. But until all is known for certain, how would you handle it? Would you carry on your day and daily routines like any other day? Or maybe respond with a slight amount of panic, despite what you believe in that they would be peaceful? Or what?
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:15 PM
@siri I would probably try to do things as per usual, but I doubt everyone else would be doing so. After all, meeting extraterrestrial life would be the largest discovery known to man. Classes would probably be cancelled and everyone and their mother would be watching the news.It also depends on how they arrive. If a couple dozen space ships are coming down, we're probably gonna get blasted with some weaponry.
icymuffin • 6 October 2012 at 4:24 PM
Well if you think about it, they'd probably think humans are pretty darn primitive. I mean, we would've barely scratched the surface of space travel compared to them if they actually come & invade Earth. But if they chose to come to Earth out of all planets, there has to be a reason. I mean, a random planet in a random arm of the Milky Way out of all the galaxies that they could have chosen from. :IHopefully they're kinder than humans.Hopefully that kindness doesn't kill us as well. But if they come, I can call myself an alien 8DAfter all, to them, we're creatures from another planet~

@MeteoroidSo, you would just sit at home and possibly do very little in regards to this occurring?
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:34 PM
@siri I would do whatever the Government sees fit, I suppose. After all, you cannot honestly do anything in a situation like this other than wait. Aliens would be concerned with the highest ranking leaders on Earth, not an average civilian. If they're friendly, I'll go make some alien friends. If they're dangerous, it's then time to reenact Falling Skies. @icymuffin You're absolutely correct in that regard. Our discovery would probably be a complete accident if anything. Achieving the ability to travel at light speed shoots you pretty far up the evolutionary chain.

@icymuffin XD That is true. But still though, how would you handle such a day? How would you feel about it, what would you do?@MeteoroidYou never know. π
glados • 6 October 2012 at 4:35 PM
I think they will be.......friendly. Like from that one movie. With those aliens.... FOR SCIENCE.
goku • 6 October 2012 at 4:36 PM
It figures @Meteoroid would be interested in this topicπ
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:38 PM
@siri What do you mean by "You never know"?If a ship landed somewhere on Earth, not a single civilian would be allowed to go anywhere near it once the government gets word of it.
iceyfira • 6 October 2012 at 4:41 PM
@MeteoroidTHEN WE DONT TELL THE GOVERNMENT! 8D
lily- • 6 October 2012 at 4:41 PM
@siri If that happened I would be probably be quite excited and If I got the chance I would probably go stare at them (hopefully they wouldn't get freaked out xD π) and if possible become friends wih them and learn about their technology. But because that probably wouldn't happen I would probably just get on with normal life and watch the news etc to see if anything happens.
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:45 PM
@iceyfira It's kinda hard to miss a space ship entering our atmosphere, what with NASA and all.
Deleted • 6 October 2012 at 4:45 PM
@gladoslol ok =p@MeteoroidOf course our government would do that. But the aliens might interested in what state civilians are in. @lily-Alright π
icymuffin • 6 October 2012 at 4:45 PM
@siriHmm.Hope that they don't steal my internet.I'd go on Egg Cave as usual....Watch the news & maybe read a couple papers.Finish my essays for class.Go relentlessly tease & joke with my friends with the new info about aliens.Laugh my head off when I remember they don't know anything about news.Read the Romantically Apocalyptic comic strips to prepare for living in a near-lifeless world with delusional people if the aliens aren't friendly. And if the whole world as I know it collapses & all else fails...EAT ICE CREAM β€οΈOr what is left of ice cream.@MeteoroidShoots you up until you realize there are aliens who've mastered the ability to efficiently create worm holes π
iceyfira • 6 October 2012 at 4:46 PM
@MeteoroidDepends on how big it is. >.> Like if it was a the size of a frisbee (As if) They wouldnt notice. The size of a house: Duh, of course. XD
Deleted • 6 October 2012 at 4:50 PM
@icymuffinXD Sounds like a good plan.
lily- • 6 October 2012 at 4:51 PM
@Meteoroid Well if they've mastered the technology to travel from their planet to ours, it would also be vey possible for them to find a way to go past NASA without being detected
Meteoroid • 6 October 2012 at 4:51 PM
@icymuffin Well, I never did say it would stop there. There are countless theories about efficient space traveling, of course. Worm hole jumping would probably be the most fun way to do it, I bet. Maybe we'll have a Black Mesa incident and accidentally create interdimensional portals, essentially saying "Come and attack us!".
jubjubloversboy • 7 October 2012 at 12:13 AM
@MeteoroidUmm.... Since I ever ever ever watched Prometheus, I've started having nightmares about hostile aliens. xD
