Snakes of Dawnwood Lake

I'd really like to try and do a role-play, even though I've never done one before.

I thought it would be a good idea to instead create a role-play, and have senior role-players help walk me through it as we play.

I understand it, I just need a helping hand through it.

My idea was:
Creatures we are - Snakes -Mythical welcome
Name - Something creative
Gender - Male / Female
Family - Are you part of a family group?
Where you live - Underground, in the trees, more water dwelling, etc.
Your creatures personality - Either a small bio or just basic.
EX

Snake - Eyelash Viper
Name - Dashler
Gender - Female
Family - Loner, not part of a family group
Home - Trees
Personality - Very friendly, loves to help others. Will go out of the way to help her friends. She will occasionally head down to Dawnwood Lake and talk with her friends that live near it.

Dawnwood Lake is the place where we all are, if you understand my thinking?

So I'll use the example I made as my character.

Home: Small hole underground
Personality: Usually friendly to her loved ones/friends. Can be a little off sometimes and Dawnwood lake is where she thinks when she's distant.
Nickname: Silver
