I'm super confused on two homework questions. Here they are:When a trait has more than two alleles, how is that trait inherited?and What phenotype is produced by each of the following genotypes?AA ______ AO ______ OO ______BB ______ BO ______ AB ______Help?
x_arya • 15 October 2012 at 2:32 PM
AA -> AAO -> AOO -> OBB -> BBO -> BAB -> ABI would totally give a complete explanation, but english is not my strong suit âšī¸

@x_aryaThanks and that's fine. đ

@blueclawWhat's with the angry cat? đ You sound like the cat lady from the simpsons lol.
lola622f • 15 October 2012 at 5:21 PM
@hedwig68Are you learning about Particale Theory? đ¸Q: When a trait has more than two alleles, how is that trait inherited?A: When one parent has a recessive trait.I think. XD
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 5:37 PM
@lola622fNo, I'm learning about genes and stuff. Thanks! đ
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 10:42 PM
@hedwig68The phenotype of genes is determined by the domonite gene of the blood line. A and B are the dominate blood types so with the example of AO the A trait or blood is more reconizable while the O is unnoticed. Since A and B are dominate then the answer would be AB as both types will show. If you are a little confused then just ask more questions and I will try to answer them. I loved Biology and Genitics when I took it last year and remember it all.

@panda-chanI think I understand, thanks! đ¸
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 10:46 PM
@hedwig68 Your welcome. I tried to give a to the point explanation without rambling. If you need any more help just ping me. đ
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 10:48 PM
@panda-chan I completely understood (unlike with my actual teacher). And alright I shall go to you if I need anymore help. đ
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 10:51 PM
@hedwig68That happened to me in Chemistry. Biology and Phyisics I got fine but that science teacher was another matter. I went on the internet and watched videos along with going to another teacher for help. After that I got it. Sometimes you just need someone else to explain it to you.
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 10:55 PM
@panda-chanI agree and I also am not very good at listening to teachers while they are teaching. I get distracted easily and forget stuff, Though when I read something that has been written down I memorize it and never forget it.
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 10:57 PM
@hedwig68Same here. Once I listen or read something and understand it I can remember it. Reading is better for me because I can recall the details others sometimes cant.
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 10:59 PM
@panda-chan Same here, when a teacher is talking and not writing anything down I lose focus and don't hear a word that they say.
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 11:03 PM
@hedwig68Most of my teachers are funny so It keeps my attention to what they are saying. But sometimes it gets boring like watching the president or vp debate. I usually write down the snipets my mind picks up and that I think sounds important.
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 11:06 PM
@panda-chanAll my teachers ramble on and on, its all really boring. All we do in most of my classes is take notes so its really hard to stay focused. I'm also not good at picking out important details. XD
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 11:12 PM
@hedwig68It's a skill I have aquired over my years in high school. I usually can skim the boring parts of a book and just remember the important parts. I think at some point it just transfered to my listening plus I'm a pro at making myself look like I'm paying attention when I'm really just thinking about what i'm doing next or an anime episode that pops into my mind. My thoughts are just at random.
cqpkytty • 15 October 2012 at 11:13 PM
@hedwig68Say there's a trait with 10 alleles. The alleles will be represented by letters A-J. And I know there's dominant CAPITAL and recessive lowercase, but I'm just sticking with capital letters đMom's Grandma: ABMom's Grandpa: CDDad's Grandma: EFDad's Grandpa: GHMom: ADDad: FHBrother: AFSister: AHYou: DHAdopted Sister (whatever đ): JB
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 11:16 PM
@panda-chanI'm always afraid that I won't take good notes so I just write everything down. I can't skim a book either, I have to read every last word (usuallly because the book is so good). I also can look like I''m paying aatention, though I'm usually thinking about a book I'm reading, something I'm drawing, or something like that.
panda-chan • 15 October 2012 at 11:20 PM
@hedwig68I only skim on tests and school books I required to read that just dont interest me like Lord of the Flies or Great Expectations. But since I'm an avid reader I like to curl up and get some reading done to find out what happens.
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 11:27 PM
@cqpkytty What? o_o@panda-chan Same here, that's what I do on my pass time. I really only read fantasys though, all non-fiction bores me though I do like a few realistic fictions.
cqpkytty • 15 October 2012 at 11:35 PM
@hedwig68You asked how a trait with more than two alleles could be passed on đ
hedwig68 • 15 October 2012 at 11:37 PM
@cqpkyttyOh, ok. Thanks đ¸
