The Popups have come to Eggcave

I was browsing eggcave today, and look what popped up >.<"

It looks legit but these things tend to be SPYWARE or something...No other browser windows were open so I figured it had to come from Eggcave, is this intentional? And popup blocker was off (which is now turned on). It doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would be wanted on Eggcave so I figured I might as well bring it up. 😊

This happened a lot to me too. >.< I think it happens on Neo, too. But sometimes I'll be on there, on Eggcave OR Neopets, and the little banner saying "Pop-up Blocked." shows up on the top. I have Norton on my laptop, and sometiems popups DO show up on Neopets and EC, so I think the ones that are blocked mean they're some sort of virus. 😱 I used to get those popups all the time.

Actually, it happened to my mom on our conputer downstairs the other day. She was getting coupons online, then all of a sudden this popup came up saying she won her choice of an ipad, a laptop, or a $500 giftcard to bestbuy. It wouldn't let her turn off the computer and it wouldn't let her close the screen, and there was some sort of countdown on the right-hand corner.

I don't want those things to start coming up on Eggcave. D:

@thepells4 If you hold down the on/off switch on the base of the computer for like 5 seconds it forces it to shut off. Or you can pull the plug >.<

@everyone DONT CLICK ON POPUPS AND GET SECURITY!! some popups can do serious harm to your computer, and its how some people access ur private info and/or stalk you.

@ian is there any way for you to prevent these?

I think if you have ad blocker it stops them... I'm going to turn mine back off and see if it comes up again...

NO. Pop ups should not be occurring anywhere on Egg Cave. Please submit in the base URL of the pop up via Tickets and we will be sure to block the web site(s) as soon as possible.

Yup, please report all popup URLs via Tickets and we will block them immediately. Pop ups should not be appearing.
