I do a lot of it, and I was wondering how many of you did any volunteer or charity work?

Most of my friends don't understand how happy helping out makes me feel.

If you have done, or do it, what have you done it for?

Even as something as simple as donating to a food bank counts. ^^

I did something special for Christmas this year..

Other than Toys For Tots at school, I also spent $400 on children on the Gift Tree this year. I feel very good.

@jazzyleia

That's great!

A friend and I started some work at a center doing lots of fundraising.

Basically, the place is meant for teens to come in if they feel alone, or need help or just someone tobe there for them because they have no one else. They can call in, Skype us or walk in. We have several volunteers doing this now. And we organize events and activities.

We spent hours doing fundraising for money, jackets and blankets as on Christmas day we're going to the homeless shelters to hand out baking and stuff like that but also walking down the streets to hand out blankets, food and ect.

It makes me feel SO sad to see all those poor people and even being able to make them smile even for a moment just makes me so happy. That's how I like to spend my Christmas.

Weird thing is, most of my friends find what I do so weird that they tend to avoid me. I just don't understand how people can see all the pain in our world and not do anything about it. V_V

For my school charity for soldiers over seas I donated $1000 for presents for them. And sent a couple drawings to them too 😊 It made me feel happy to know I would make them happy.

Yes, for the Giving Tree at my school this year I bought a cute little MLP train set for a little girl in pre-K. I really hope she liked it ❤️

That sounds sweet! We do a similar thing with the shoeboxes for kids program here. My town is amazing. ❤️

Well, my church does Operation Christmas Child. It's where you take a shoe box and fill it with toys, or socks, anything small. They then go to a gathering center, and shipped all around the world. It starts in October, then they go to the gather center in mid November. Overall, it's a great thing to do, considering that most of the time, these kids are in horrible conditions and need a little hope.

Oh, and they also put in a little bible in the child's language in the boxes.

Cool. My nana and I used to do a lot of this kind of stuff. Still do but not as much. I chopped off almost all my hair (I wasn't the one who did) and donated it to Lots of Love. 😊 I've done that twice. My hair grows really fast xD

I volunteered at a cat adoption center a few years ago, but otherwise no.

I would donate to the giving tree if the children needing the gifts didn't want $100 jeans, Ipads/Ipods, laptops, or other expensive electronics. I thought these children would want something a bit less.... superfluous and selfish.

I love it too! At my school our year level does community service and I chose an optional one which involves working with disabled- mentally and physically- people. It takes a little while to get used to but it is totally worth it. XD

IDK if this counts as charity, but we're having some soldiers that we don't know that can't get home for the Holidays spend Christmas at our house. (My sisters are in the Army soo)

Well, I help with my churches food pantry, we help make Christmas dinners for those who can't afford one. I volunteer at the animal shelter from time to time. Also, I save money to go on a work and witness trip. Last year we helped built a school in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and I got to meet the child I sponsor.

My church does Operation Christmas Child as well!
This year the boxes were shipped to Peru.

I baked cookies for a retirement home, cleaned up some local parks, and helped out at the giving tree 😊
That's THIS year.

Charity work...

Volunteering at an animal shelter, going on roadshows to spread the message and love for animals.

And another one.. I doubt if it's considered charity work, but having a blogshop to support microfinancing stuff for lesser developed countries.
