Username Changes.

I'm beginning to get really sick of my URL / Username / whatever...

And I don't like creating new accounts either. People think you're a newbie and start under offering, and it takes two days before you can trade onto the new account, too.

Perhaps there should be an option where we could change it perhaps once a month? And next to our username it would have our old one next to it in brackets.

For example, if I changed mine, it would say;

'Profile: xxyyxx (previously 'dis0rientated)'

Thoughts?

I definitely agree. I'm really tired of my long, boring, unoriginal username. >.< If there was a way I could create a new account, and transfer EVERYTHING over to it, then it would be alright.

I just hate how long it takes to transfer things, then you have to go around and tell everybody it's you and it requires so much effort. :L

It might take lots of binary changes, but what would Ian rather, us make loads of accounts everytime we want to change our username and waste space, or take a *bit* [Probably a while] to code it into the site?

I can imagine it does take a lot of coding into the system and such, considering it's a lot more than just changing a critters name.

Hopefully, one day in the EggCave future it'll happen or something 😊

Sounds too complicated for the system, but I understand what you mean. ^-^

I think instead of having it 'dhuisgjhd (previously @kurochi-akuma)' you should just have the username.

Also, I think that it should be less frequent. Like you can only edit your name 'once' after your account is created. That way it doesn't get confusing and less coding. O:

Just my ideas for that. It would be nice to have~ ^w^

Yes, I think we need that, though like most previous posts said, it would be a lot of hard work to do that.

It might take some time to code it into the system, but that's the whole idea.

Sometimes better things need some time put into them to make them worthwhile.

Sometimes though, a username can resemble something or someone you don't talk to anymore, so it's nice to change it. 😊

Good idea. But a lot of coding goes into it, it's an absolute nightmare e.e
I don't like my name (that was a awhile ago...) but I don't want to delete this account and make a new one.

I like this, but it would be a lot of work for the site staff... But I really kind of almost maybe want to change my username.

I agree with @mairbear. The changed url would make most pings useless, and the change would be confusing if it suddenly popped up. Maybe if the old profile url ended up saying, "[username] has changed their username to [new username]," but I don't think it would be very easy. Making a new account is hectic and annoying, but it is probably a lot easier than changing your surname.

Perhaps there could be an auto-correction if somebody has recently changed their username, the pings are automatically corrected to their new one, and the old username isn't available for use again.

I was only suggesting this as creating new accounts and leaving ones as 'side accounts' with just a few useless eggs in wastes space in the EggCave's database.

The problem is the coding to pu this all together, I don't think we want all that weight on Ian's back! To make an uuto change would be extreamly dificult too! You have no idea how much it takes to code somthing like this! Although username changes are in my favor (I really wish I changed mine right now my username is 'wingedwolf' in russain 😋 ) I really think to put that much presuser on Ian isn't a good idea.

I do know that it's a LOT of coding and changing things around the site and working around things.

Perhaps it could be changed into something worth Ians time?

I'm not trying to rush Ian and the site's devs into getting this done for next month. Perhaps it's just a thing that might be put into the site in the far future? 😃
