@harrypotter123698 Dolphins are whales. 😊 The last stage looks like a dolphin in particular, an orcha. 😊
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 7:41 PM
@linpug A killer whale is not a dolphin. Dolphins are smaller in size and have slightly different features.Dolphins are in the same animal kingdom classifacation as whales but they are TWO DIFFERENT species. 😊
linpug • 23 February 2013 at 7:55 PM
@harrypotter123698An orcha whale is one of the largest dolphins 😸 Scientifically the term "whale" consist of dolphins and porpoises. ^^ Orchas are in a group called "delphinidae", which I believe means "The dolphin family. 😊You may say "Dolphins are in the same animal kingdom classifacation as whales but they are TWO DIFFERENT species." But the truth is dolphins are whales. ^^ What you are saying is like saying "We don't have a cat on egg cave, but we have a tiger" 😉

Well, it's all a matter of opinion & perspectiveIt'd be kinda odd if someone said if the Tasma was based on seagulls, but whatever c:Whoon, dolphins & whales, close enough.Hey guys, we don't have any bunnies or unicorns 8D//smackedHmm. Perhaps if anyone can make a good insect suggestion? 😋
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 8:03 PM
@linpug Yeah but my point is that we don't have a REAL COLORED dolphin. I want a natural dolphin in their natural color and looks. 😊
Meteoroid • 23 February 2013 at 8:03 PM
@harrypotter123698 Orcas (Killer Whales) are indeed dolphins, actually. Even the common usage of 'dolphin' to describe the average bottlenose variety is slightly misleading and makes most people automatically think of the slim, gray kind. Admittedly, it all depends on the situation and context of things. The Whoon appears to draw heavy influence from the orca (most notably, the pattern of its underbelly), which in that respect would make it completely alright for users to think of it as a dolphin. Not the dolphin you might see when watching Flipper, but a dolphin nonetheless. We can always have more whales/dolphins/porpoises/etc. on Egg Cave though. Gotta love that marine life 😃
linpug • 23 February 2013 at 8:06 PM
@harrypotter123698 Well, I like unique egg cave creatures, but I wouldn't mind another dolphin ^^
icymuffin • 23 February 2013 at 8:10 PM
Ark is literally an island. We must explore the sea!Initiate an ocean based plot!!Many sea creatures to be found!! 😉
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 8:12 PM
@icymuffin Yes. An ocean based plot= amazing.
icymuffin • 23 February 2013 at 8:13 PM
@harrypotter123698Pssh~Is that part of your bias? ;D *nudge nudge*But eh. I'd seriously enjoy that :]
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 8:14 PM
@icymuffin We need more plots anyways. Maybe we can visit Seamer City 😱
icymuffin • 23 February 2013 at 8:18 PM
@harrypotter123698Oooh~ And then ancient sea creatures! Coelacanths!ALL THE POSSIBILITIES
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 8:19 PM
@icymuffin Starfish, aquatic dinosaur fossils, octopi, colossal squids! 0.0SO MANY POSSIBILITIES

@Marie_LilyI'm pretty sure that Balrogipuwets are goats... so therefor we have goats alreadySome other animals that we do not have are:BinturongThylacineOkapiHyenaTapirBtw Orcas and Dolphins are both in the family Delphinidae, so Orcas and Dolphins are the same thing they just look different just like how Pugs and Great Danes are both in the family Canidae but look different and are of different sizes
jemmie • 23 February 2013 at 9:05 PM
@linpug Sorry, but I have to agree with @harrypotter123698.In the Cavedex, it says its the largest, strongest creature. Dolphins aren't probably the largest and strongest creature. Whales though, ARE the largest and strongest creature.
harrypotter123698 • 23 February 2013 at 9:25 PM
@jemmie Exactly, so that's why it makes more sense why the Whoon is a Whale!
furfur • 23 February 2013 at 9:40 PM
The order of whales is Cetacea and it is the same for Dolphins and Orcas.... Orcas are closer related to Dolphins than Whales since both in the Orca and Dolphin are in the family Delphinidae. One could say the as the Whoon evolved (To evolved is to develop over successive generations as a result of natural selection) it is moved from the family Delphinidae to another family or even a new one... The archives does say that it is the largest but it also says that Krahs (Sharks) hunt them but have trouble due to their size and strength... Sharks and Dolphins are natural enemies in nature but sharks rarely try to hunt whales due to the size difference
linpug • 23 February 2013 at 9:43 PM
@jemmie I really don't want to discuss it, any longer after it's been confirmed, but scientifically speaking, dolphins are whales. 😉 I might add that this is egg cave, and the creatures here are not real. Even if it says that the creature is "The largest and strongest" It's made up, because the creature is made up. Egg cave isn't designed to reflect real life. 😉 I mean look at the Nipha's discription. XDDD I do, in fact believe the whoon was based off of an orca, due to the similarities they share in appearance, but for all we know it could have been based off a dog. XD The thing is, we don't have any normal dogs, cats or bunnies, but we have animals that resemble them. 😊 That's because Egg Cave is unique, and that's what I like about egg cave. ^^
jix • 24 February 2013 at 1:44 AM
@linpugTrue, I do agree with you.@jemmie@harrypotter123698Dolphins in groups can take down sharks, but only if the shark is being very aggressive. They will swim in different directions quickly to confuse the shark, and then ram its beak into the shark's soft under belly. This can injure the shark badly, knock the shark unconscious, and, if done repeatedly, can kill the shark. Dolphins tend to just swim away if there is no need to fight though.
harrypotter123698 • 24 February 2013 at 9:01 AM
@jix So you're saying that a dolphin can defeat a great white shark? 😸
Meteoroid • 24 February 2013 at 9:37 AM
@harrypotter123698 Not a single dolphin, of course. A lone dolphin against a great white would be no match. But there are actually reports and situations where pods of dolphins have faced off against great white sharks. This is Ark, after all. Biology works a little different around these parts. 😋
jemmie • 24 February 2013 at 9:42 AM
@marie_lily Dogs? Unless you count the Biwo, but that's wolf-like.@Meteoroid So what IS it? XD
Meteoroid • 24 February 2013 at 9:47 AM
@jemmie I would guess that the Whoon is perhaps a stylized orca, though its only just an educated guess. Maybe I can find confirmation at some point. 😋
jemmie • 24 February 2013 at 9:49 AM
@Meteoroid LOL. 😉
harrypotter123698 • 24 February 2013 at 9:57 AM
@Meteoroid Please find an answer for us xD
linpug • 24 February 2013 at 10:38 AM
It's quite interesting to find out more about egg cave ^^I don't believe there is anything based off an aardvark. Though I find it strange that this conversation went from discussing whether the whoon is based of a dolphin to discussing whether dolphins can take on great white sharks. As stated, egg cave isn't made to reflect real life, so if the description says that it can defeat sharks, that doesn't nesesarily mean the animal that it was based of could accomplish those things. Just because nipha can bend elements doesn't mean a cat could. 😉
