Ping preferences

So....I really don't like getting random pings. If I'm interested in something, I will post myself, no need to ping me, cause it actually makes me dislike you.

I'm suggesting that we are able to set ping preferences. Such as, only accept pings from friends, or only accept pings on topics you've posted in or created or for people who don't like this idea, there would always be the option of 'allow all pings'.

I just like to mind my own business, and I'm sick of getting 'live-pulse pings' from people who I've never even talked to or seen before. It's like email spam, ping style, and it's rude.

I'll assume that coding is relatively difficult for this, but, it would be much appreciated.

@darthvader I've been back for about a week, and people are starting these live-pulse pings that they haven't before and it's annoying and making me want to go back to my corner of the internet where people don't ping me.

It's pretty do-able.

@darthvader I have to say, I really like this idea. Default setting could be to allow all pings, so newbies could be easily pinged in their Welcome topics and could be easily changed afterwards. Kinda like how your first featured creature is your first egg and you can change it afterwards. This idea definitely has merit. 😊

I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement code wise, but its something that can be looked into in the future.

@orderedchaos Awesome. As a mod, you must get an insane amount of 'spam' pings all the time. You probably understand this better than most.

It would be wonderful if you could look into it. 😊

I like this idea. They did this on a gaming site one time because a lot of people would whine, so you could only accept to chat with friends or you could receive anyone's chat if they were talking to you.

@darthvader I'm obsessed with this idea, maybe it can be a setting, that allows you to disable pings from specific users or such. This is a suggestion I would to see implemented.

I really like this idea, maybe add sections you'd like to be pinged on too? I'm big in the rp forms and I'm always up for pings to check out new rps and what not but livepulse pings for creature suggestions/travels or whatever are annoying 😋 I absolutely love the idea though and hopes it passes!

that's actually a really good idea. I get way too many pings and I don't even know what to say on the topics so I just awkwardly sit there
