Secrets in the Clans

Always accepting! Many cats needed.

(This takes place in the old forest.)

Something new is happening in the Clans. Certain cats are different than the others - but only those who are different know, and only about themselves. They each think themselves unique, think themselves the only cats who are in any way out of the ordinary, but they are wrong.

As many charries as you want, but keep it to a manageable number, please 😊
Special ideas: You could be a cat who had been reincarnated a few times and remember each life; you could be able to fly; you could speak Twoleg language; whatever you want. Remember these are just ideas, you can do other things as well, of course.
Please PM me your power so I can make sure it's OK, and also so I can make sure that two people don't have the same thing.
Remember, if you're special, you're the only one who knows it. Maybe you'll tell someone else later on, or they'll discover on their own, but at the start of the RP, none of the cats even know who else is special or not.

Miststar yawned as the sunrise woke her. It was still a bit early, so she settled back down for some more sleep.

Wildheart stretched, padding out of the warrior's den. She had plans for something before most of the Clan woke up. Six months...She had never told them where she was going, or why. She hadn't come back since she left. Half a year since she vanished from their lives...She didn't plan on greeting them again, but she could at least go back and look...

As the camp lit up with the pale dawn light, Fawnpaw dragged brambles into the camp. Padding quietly in, so as not to awake the still sleeping members of her clan, with brambles in mouth, Fawnpaw approached the inner camp wall and began to add the tough plant to the camp's reinforcements. But before much time had passed, a long wail came from the nursery.

Wildheart crept through the dawn-lit forest, then stopped. No...she couldn't. It was too late, some cat who wanted to get up early to hunt could find her.

Pebbleclaw was behind his apprentice, dragging his own set of bramble branches. This was his task today, and decided to let Fawnpaw tag along with him.

When the loud wail sounded, his entire body jumped in shock, hair frizzing everywhere. He had his teeth clenched on his branches, that he almost broke them.

Trying to recover, he clumsily placed the brambles somewhere near the ones Fawnpaw placed.

"Uh, um I think we've got to go check," he meowed, but even he sounded unsure. His hair was still frizzing out. Cats were already rushing towards the nursery.

Oakfoot tried not to yawn through his mouthful of freshkill. Last thing he wanted is to have drop a few on the way home. As he walked, he smelled a fellow clanmate. A brown tabby warrior was just about to creep out of camp.

"Mornin' Wildheart," he greeted, but his voice was mumbled from all the prey he was carrying. "You're too late for hunting, I'm afraid. The others are coming back too."

He passed her, placing his catch as the starting pile of their food for the morning.

Wildheart nodded to Oakfoot in greeting, padding back into camp. Now she was glad she had changed her mind - she didn't want her Clanmates seeing her sneaking off to Twolegplace. Twolegplace...funny how your words can change so quickly, she mused.
But then...it was a full year since the first time she met Blazeclaw, it was six moons exactly since she had left her Twolegs, and she couldn't help feeling...not homesick, she didn't want to leave ThunderClan, but...nostalgic, maybe. Maybe she would try to go there today...

The other warriors followed soon after, adding their catch of the day to the now growing pile of freshkill. A pigeon here and maybe a shrew or two. Oakfoot ushered the apprentices to bring some food to the elders while he brought a couple of plump robins to the nursery.

When he returned to the clearing, Oakfoot spotted Wildheart with her head over the clouds. Again. He picked up a mouse, then walked over to her.

"You'll starve yourself to death just spacing out like that," he meowed jokingly, placing the mouse near the older cat. "Here. It's still warm."

"Prey is plentiful around this time of Greenleaf, Dashstar," Oakfoot reported, nodding his head in respect. "The elders and the nursery had been fed as well."

He accepted Dashstar's task while glancing at the now shrinking freshkill. So many mouths to feed now, with their growing clan.

Dappleshade yawned, shifting position. How did that thorn get in her bedding? It wasn't like she had left the nursery any time recently...She blinked. Wait...She wasn't in the nursery...She was in WindClan! What?! What happened?! She scrambled to her feet, realizing a WindClan apprentice was right next to her. "I - I - I wasn't trying to be here! I was in the nursery! I'm not even supposed to be out of the nursery, my kits will be due soon!"

Fawnpaw approached the nursery cautiously. As she entered the small hollow she immediately detected a strong stench. ShadowClan! Beside her, a pregnant she cat was stuttering her confusion. Alarmed, Fawnpaw called out a warning to the clan. The queens gathered around their kits protectively and Owlstorm, the Clan deputy, slinked in.
"Why are you here? Are there more of you?" Fawnpaw hissed.

Dappleshade spun around to face the WindClan cats. "I don't know! And I don't know! I was in the nursery, and then I - Look, I'm an expecting queen. My kits are due any day now! Do you really think I would be leaving the nursery to do anything, let alone travel all the way to WindClan camp? I don't know what happened!"

Pebbleclaw followed suit behind Fawnpaw (even if it's supposed to be the other way around), then scooted behind Owlstorm as well. A ShadowClan queen suddenly among them was enough to spark the many controversies in his pesimistic and imaginative mind.

"The fact that you made it here quite comfortably answers your own question." he spat, not believing a word she said. "Do you really think you expect us to believe that you flew here in your sleep?"

They ought to take her kits as apprentices, then finish her off, but the leader has the last say.

Dappleshade glanced fearfully at Pebbleclaw. "I don't expect you to believe the story I'm telling you. I wouldn't believe it myself, if I was in your place...but I don't know! I don't know what to tell you that you would believe, that would get me back to ShadowClan, I don't know if there's some way to get you to believe the truth, but I doubt it, I just don't know! And," she sniffed, trying to keep from crying, "And...And I know what you think of me. You think we ShadowClan cats don't know what other Clans say about us?" She tried to glare at Pebbleclaw, but her tear-filled eyes ruined the effect. "We're evil and we lie and we'll steal your kits. But you know what? We aren't like that! Sure, some ShadowClan cats have been, but I'm sure that there have been WindClan cats like that, and ThunderClan, and RiverClan! You think, just because of what Clan we're born in, we're automatically evil. That's not true. We have queens, and we have kits, and we have kin, and we love them just as much as you love yours. We laugh and we cry, we run short of prey, foxes find their way onto our territory and attack us. We bleed when you scratch us. Yet the other Clans can't seem to understand that we're just cats..." She sniffled, the held-in tears finally flowing through her fur. "I'm just a cat. And I just want to get back to my Clan so my mate can be there when I have my kits." She stared at the mentor and his apprentice, tears running freely. "Please..."

Fawnpaw looked at Pebbleclaw questioningly. The ShadowClan queen sounded genuine enough. But how could anyone explain how she had gotten there? It seemed unlikely that the ShadowClan cat had come to WindClan unknowingly.

Owlstorm was the first to speak. "Well, Dappleshade, I know you are not the type to lie. I'll report this to the Cloudstar but for now, Fawnpaw and Pebbleclaw will escort you back to your own border." He sniffed as if he greatly wanted to keep the ShadowClan queen here for further questioning but clearly he thought better of it.

Pebbleclaw twitched at his apprentice's questioning glance. What? Fawnpaw didn't believe her, did she? That a queen would hurl herself all the way here and not know a thing why she did? If only there were cats here who were a bit more realistic about this. At least their deputy would tell their leader about this soon.

"Well come on," Pebbleclaw mewed, his tail fidgeting about. "No time to waste. Let's get you home."

Because the last thing he needed was this queen to give birth to kits on the way to the border, and he did not know a single thing on how to help on that.
