So guys, I am both super excited and scared for tomorrow night. I am going to be reading my work at my uni's literary journal release party (I'm a selection committee member).
Last time I read at a big event (a writing workshop), I freaked out and couldn't do it, so hopefully that won't happen. That was many years ago, however.

So what do you do to stave off the butterflies?
I'm predicting much the need to drink much ginger ale tomorrow night.☚ī¸

Personally, if I'm nervous for something I just drop everything and watch one of my favourite TV shows for like an hour. Works best with mindless comedy I think 😋

Anyway good luck at your release party! Sounds super fun 😃

@mairbear

That does sound awesome.
Wish I could just relax, but I have a paper due tomorrow, and I really need to focus on that. I'm already way distracted.😋

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. All my professors are going to be there. One even said she'd try to make it, just for me. So now I really can't back out.

First of all, stop eating caterpillars.

Anyway, when I'm nervous I listen to cheery songs or watch some comedy stuff.
I don't know how to help you other than that, most of the time I get nervous over nothing and constantly.

Good luck with your release party. ^^

I know the feeling. I have bad anxiety sometimes, often resulting in horrible stomachaches...hence the ginger ale.

Music usually helps me, too.^^

If you're interested, you could try an episode of 30 Rock~ They're only like 20 minutes which I think is a good chunk of time for a break~ And I know how you feel.. I have an assignment due tomorrow and I don't even know how to answer a few of the questions T.T Good luck to both of us eh? ;D At least your paper's keeping your mind off of "you-know-what" 8D

@mairbear

Good luck to you too!
Once I got writing, it seemed a little easier. Reading my last essay for this same class, I don't understand how it got a perfect score. It feels so...contrived, hollow, mechanical. I read a paragraph and I'm just like, "Wow, this is crap."

Idk, maybe for some twisted reason I just find it cathartic to tear into my past work while working on something new...helps me feel that I am about to improve in someway. 😋)

Wow, it's really really really bad. I just put the last essay through natural reader and it really really sucks. Ouch.
Why did I write this? How? yuck.
