Shadow waved her furred hoof hesitantly. "Uh... Hi there...." She was tempted to shift back into her Changling form, but resisted. She liked her furry form. Made her feel... Safe. And well-hidden.

Umbraticum muttered an awkward "hello" before flaring at the ground, as though it were the ground's fault that he was no good in situations like these.

"I am Umbraticum, formerly a captain of one faction of the Swarm." His rank slipped out instinctively, startling himself. That's right... He HAD been a captain...

The Changling nodded. "I'm not sure I had a name. But if I did it would more than likely be Claw." He said. "And I was just a normal Changling Drone pretty much."

"None of us had names. We had to name ourselves something, though, because otherwise the ponies would realize something was wrong," Umbraticum explained to Claw.

You guys might not remember anything because you were just drones, but as a captain I remember how she would cast out those who were weak and, if they managed to find their way back, they were never truly accepted again. Chrysalis hardly noticed, and when she did the returning Changeling would most often refuse to be put under mind control again, thus suffering the same as those who hadn't been noticed," Umbraticum replied, wincing as he remembered several of those Changelings. "Besides, we've been in a coma for months. She won't accept us at all now that we've been out in the real world this long."

"Yes," replied Umbraticum sincerely. "I've seen it happen many times and--most of them died. They died so early in life. I didn't care at first, but then again I was still under Chrysalis's influence, and as such was 'programmed' not to notice."

New character:
Name: Forest Frost
Age: approximately 19
Gender: male
Species: Changeling
Appearance: Forest Frost is a very deep shade of grey, but it's not as dark as Umbraticum's or Midnight Star's, and it has the faintest hint of green. The armor on his back is a deep, deep green, though it changes to a very pale blue in the light, hence his name. His tail and "mane" are the same shade of green, but they don't shimmer like frost. His eyes are slightly lighter than the normal Changeling shade, though they have the faintest glimmer of moss-green. He is rather lanky, and he has a couple of extra holes and rips in his wings from battles long gone.
Personality: Forest is a happy-go-lucky type of Changeling, though he has the ability to formulate good plans if he has the motivation for it. He is somewhat sarcastic, though he has a good heart. His snarky personality makes him slightly endearing, though he'd rather be thought of as tough. He is a natural leader, though he often wastes this skill.
Crush: none
Other: One day he woke up and was somehow not under Chrysalis's control; she seemed to have forgotten about him. He left the Swarm and created a disguise and lived among ponies for a while before he and another Changeling who had suffered the same fate decided to go back and set up an underground resistance made up of others who the Hive Mind had detached from, so he's already been developed and such. Also, my chinchillas knocked over their dust baths and now my CLEAN floor is a mess. -.-'

Umbraticum sighed.
"Not much, I guess," he replied. "Mostly I was planning with other captains and the Queen, so I didn't have much opportunity to notice anything. But it was very organized; everybody got where they needed to go and there was no trouble. You drones mostly worked on building and stuff, while the Harvesters went out and collected extra love for everyling else to feed on, while the warriors were hidden in little cocoons and alcoves saving strength for later battles."
Umbraticum shuddered as he realized just how strict everything was there. If he knew anything, it was that he was NOT going back.
