Look. A lot of our beloved old users are returning! Even more who don't know prices anymore they've been away so long. I've seen a lot of people who are old users who have clung on to eggcave like a life raft. Then theirs the old users who return to eggcave only to be cheated out of their good creatures. I think what I'm trying to say is I'll stroll around and they'll be someone thinking @exampleuser has returned and they'll post on exampleuser's wall and say they'll trade a common for their Tine. Whereas exampleuser has no Idea of worths and trades it away for a Yeep. I've seen too much of this and I seriously want so bad to put a stop to this. Remember when you were new and someone gave you crap for your old CSP you somehow obtained. I'll bet that was not FUN! And new users don't know prices either. I think that people should know better then to underoffer on rare critters they know what their worth is. I've come across user trying to give a Bliz for a Biwo or a unhemn for a Nym.
So I ask you[all users] to read this and give me your thoughts. I'm not trying to be a mod, I'm trying to stop crooks on our EC community.
@Frosted -You are an old user and have had your share of this I presume.

@bluebelle I'm going to be straight, blunt and honest with this topic; I've seen a lot of comments on old users returning and all that drama. (I even had an embarrassing rant during the time where they were all leaving.)

The rares, CSPs, creatures, etc - they are all the /old user's creatures/. Not yours. They're free to do what they want with it, and even if they find out that what they traded x for is worth much more than y, x is already gone. It's their fault.

There's a Trade Safety page that gives some tips on how not to be scammed. One of the tips is "Always Do Your Research" and one of the thoughts from the EC staff is "once you trade away a creature, realize that it is no longer under your control." I completely agree with that.

No matter who it happens to and what the creature is and when it happens, it's their fault. The moment they push that accept button, that's it.

Sure, it's not fun, but mistakes are there to be learnt from.

@bluebelle

Erm ma gawd >;3 Yes.

In general, I just get tired of people under offering with users. I have people that under offer on my creatures because they think I'm new & don't know prices >.>

Then the same people that under offer go right back around and make your over offer.

And you wonder why users quit?-_-

I mean, if you get a creature for a bit less than what it's worth, it's not like it's the end of the world, love.

I'm not exactly an old user, but I've traded rare creatures for creatures worth less before. Because I liked those creatures. It doesn't exactly matter how rare these creatures are, it's more like how much you like the creatures. [I.e. Hoarding.]

@bluebelle
Then in order to prevent that, why don't you tell everyone example prices. How much are the creatures you mentioned worth?

I just registered last month and I have to say that I have no clue on the prices and such. If someone told me they wanted to sell me their Biwo for example, I'd have no idea what to offer. When I offer, it's never that I'm trying to trick the other user. I don't think everyone aims to trick. We all are different and some don't really know what each creature is worth.

And like @iceyfira said, it's not always about the worth - it's really about how much you like the creature you're about to trade or get from a trade. I wouldn't mind trading a rare creature if I was to get a creature I truly adore.

@bluebelle
I have experiences and have seen much situations.

I had some Macbots and Doovoos. I traded Doovoos for 2 Onnys (back in 2010) and had got some Onnies as well.
Like an equal amount of about 8-10 Macbots, Doovoos and Onnys.
I randomly placed some in the AC.
When I returned in 2011, I was tricked into trading them for CRW LES!!
I didnt know much, and was inactive for a lot of time, I had 5 of each among which 2-3 of each died (o.e)
Then in 2011, I dont remember much, its a long time ago. I traded some for Leymas, two for a Gobbler, and the rest for CRW LEs and EC. Then all died.
I deleted my account in mid 2011.

Then I came across EC by my sister and remembered it. I didnt remember my old username, nor the email but the password Dx
Btw, it was deleted so not much problems over that.
i started fresh and decided not to reveal I know anything.
After some time, I realized the cheaters here.
I even traded a Balrog (which I got from trades) for a Leyma >.>

But to say actually those.
Who pretend that they are friends with that person.
They flatter that person
And then they say something good about a specific creature
Ask if its UFT, and if a double, chances are more.
Then offer something ridculous as an LE or new CSP.
The old user accepts,
The new user makes the lot, suppressing their laughter and enjoyment.
The old user offer
After accepting, the new user doesnt need the old user anymore.
The new user jumps out in joy

This is a timeline of real happenings.

@bluebelle It has happened to me but I was a newbie XP I got a creature made, traded it for a siren then someone offered me a bragon ( I checked the archived and saw it was old and I thought I had a great deal) so I traded my frozen siren D: I still stab myself for doing so.

Deleted • 16 July 2013 at 8:43 PM

I was a newbie when I came across a Nym egg.
Someone offered a frozen Bragon egg and said that there were only 7 in existence.
After constant searches, I found 3 frozen and 3 unfrozen.

I thought of accepting and someone offered a Bragon egg and 1000CC if I frozen my Nym egg.
I traded the Nym egg away

As I wasnt there in the release of the Nyms, nor after it, I couldnt get any Nyms. I got one hardly by trading 5 CSPs which I got from EC trades and LEs.

I had to trade a lot to get back.

I also seen someone trade their FROZEN first stage Nym for a Paret and Stort - both asteroids were worth at 1000 for both that time.

@bluebelle it's what iceyfira and here's an example:
lets say an old user has a biwo UFT and someone offered an abet and the old user really wants a scorbis and the old user found someone with a scorbis UFT and the person who has the scorbis really wants an abet and the old user would accept that trade so the old user could get that scorbis
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
do you get it now?
@safikei "Then in order to prevent that, why don't you tell everyone example prices. How much are the creatures you mentioned worth?"
a) There's a topic here about creature values. 😉 b) Although I do support that topic (as it has a wide range and also tells you that these are rough guidelines), I am generally against creature values. Everyone has their own values. Some old users may have made this 'mistake' and not regretted it (perhaps unlikely, but possible). Trading away a highly sought after creature does not necessarily only have disadvantages. If you trade it away, it means you have less people bothering you. Less paranoia about it dying or your account being hacked into, etc.
I also agree with @iceyfira's idea, but that's usually not the case with this kind of situation.
@bubblez This isn't the only reason why users quit. And usually (if at all) this situation occurs /after/ the users quit (and have returned), not before.
(BTW, I don't mean to attack any of you - just your statements and the topic.)
@bluebelle THANK YOU!
People need to stop trying to cheat people out (unless the user knows it's an under-offer/doesn't care) and actually WORK to get what they want. If they're too cheap/broke to get what they want, that's their problem, but they ought not to take advantage of users who don't know better.
i'm not sure what you mean... The old user could trade their biwo whenever they wanted. I'm not trying to stop them. And do I get what?
@ems
Yes exactly! [you've make my day 😃]
That's what I mean! I'm tired of people taking advantage!
@bluebelle It's not "cheating" to underoffer. Not nice, yes, but nobody is breaking the rules here.
It's the responsibility of the person being offered the trade to check before accepting. He or she can ask other people in the forum, for example. It's not like there is no information available within this website to help one.
@mrsgiggles Agreed.
And I don't think this is /ever/ going to stop completely. What do you expect the EC staff to do for this? Make a rule saying "no underoffers"? There's no official worth of a particular creature (apart from Weighted Rarity, which partly contributes to creature worth). What about stopping old users from coming back or even just quitting? There's nothing you can really do to stop this.
