Akri lowered her head in thanks to her new friends. She was so happy she had met them. Or, what would she be doing right now if she hadn't met Oshaif?
"Thank you so so much," she said, her voice shaky with the caution of tears.
Akri lifted her good wing to her eyes and rubbed them to wipe away any tears that would've come out.

Oashaif smiled at Akri. His eyes glinted in the sunlight that was slowly fading away. He blinked. "Anytime, Akri." She said. He looked at the sun and relaxed. Suddenly he felt the earth tremble beneath his claws. Surprised, he took off. "Everyone.. Come on if you want to live!" he screeched. He watched as the trees started to fall.

Akri nodded and lifted her wings in flight. She flapped her wings, being careful with her injured wing and waited where to next. Akri watched in horror as the trees fell down, the earth trembling, everything collapsing. She had never experienced an earthquake.

Oshaif watched as the ground below fell into the black hole of nothingness. He blinked then looked at Melody. "I don't know." He said. "But we have to find somewhere soon.. It's getting dark." The hawk's gaze was full of worry as he looked around for more stable ground.

Lani hovered in the air watching the ground give away. She saw trees collapse from her spot over a what used to be a meadow. 'Darn earthquakes, can't I just have a place to rest?!?!?!?!?!?!?!' Lani thought.

Oshaif looked around and thought he saw something dart in the air. He blinked. "Hello? Is anyone out there?" the male hawk called out into the distance. He stared at the setting sun. 'At least the sky isn't falling apart' he thought. He looked around once more for somewhere to stay the night. They would have to take turns watching for earthquakes.

Fear flashed through her for a moment as another earthquake started. With a barely contained screech, Libero launched off the trembling earth. Her brown wings were outstretched now, and she moved towards the other survivors. She blinked when she heard a voice, one unfamiliar. The buzzard glanced to the side, and caught sight of another hummingbird. Libero looked to the others. "Another survivor." She blinked, then started flying towards the other bird.

"I'm gonna see if that's a bird" Melody flys to the it speck flying in the air. Once she realizes it is another bird she thinks 'Phew another survivor' Then she shouts "Hey! You looking for land to?"

Oshaif looked at the group and watched as they yelled at the second humming bird. He looked back at the setting sun. It was starting to get cold too. "We need to find shelter." he muttered.

She glanced back when she heard Melody's shout, who was following her to the newly found survivor. "Well then, join us." Libero suggested. "It's starting to get dark, and safer in numbers, right?" She said, and blinked.

Akri then noticed that Melody and Oshaif had spotted a bird, a hummingbird. She blinked when Libero dived in as well. Akri shrugged and decided as well to see what was going on. She got into a dive, and let her wings out as she joined the group talking to the hummingbird. Akri never knew so many birds had lived in this area, when she was a young eaglet, all she saw were herself and her very own parents. She sighed, Akri longed for her parents. If only they knew that she lived from falling, tumbling down the sky from her wounded wing almost to approach her death. Akri felt like she was tearing up, again so she tried to look away and hold her tears and cheer up. She then listened to Lani, Libero, Oshaif, and Melody.

In the shadows a lone barn owl watches with increasing interest. "Ah, I am not alone," Kyma tilts her head in a way only owls can. She lets loose a spine-chilling screech.

Akri blinked, trying to hold back the tears as she heard Oshaif speak to her.
"Erm," she hesitated in a voice as if she was about to choke, the tears just kept on fighting against her blinks to stream out, "just the wind, you know."
When no one was looking, she took her good wing and wiped it swiftly across her eyes that was tearing up. Akri's wings almost stood frozen as she heard a screech, of a barn owl. She never heard such screeches from any Barn Owl, Akri started to listen closely.

As Kyma watched she saw the eagle starting to listen carefully. "Good, at least one has heard my welcome cry," she thought. Silently, she started to fly towards the birds. The darkness shielded her until she was a mere 3 wing-lengths away. "Hello, young eagle," Kyma said in the screechy voice of her ancestors, "You were the first to hear my welcome call. Tell me, who are these others?"
