I've been here for this long and have been wondering all this time about this.

How is the weighted rarity calculated in the Archives?

For example, the Flyen's is 3.

Does that mean only 3 exist? O-o

@nroosangel

I don't know exactly how they calculate everything, but I do know that the number of rarity does not mean that's how many creatures of that species are.

@nroosangel WR is based off of all the alive creatures of that species, according to the FAQ.
From the FAQ (Archives):

What is the "Weighted Rarity" metric mean? How is it calculated?

The weighted rarity of a species is based off all the alive creatures in Ark. Generally, weighted rarities range from a number between 1 and 500, where a 0 weighted rarity means the species is extinct and 500 means a species is very common.

@nroosangel The above statements are correct. If you'd like to know exactly how the rarities are calculated, you can check out the law of large numbers.
