My science class/teacher. I'm in gifted Bio and of the 2 gifted Bio teachers, I got the mean one. I someone answers something wrong she tells us we should all just move down to standard Bio and that no one has ever finished with an A in her class. (It's bc she grades so strictly)

Not only does the teacher tick me off, but I wanted to take Biology. We're studying chemistry right now. If I wanted to take Chemistry, I would have taken it. I just hate it so much. There's so much math and confusion to it. I mean I suck at math already I don't need this.

Thoughts?
What is your favorite science class?

@rileytibbles
My favorite science teacher was my Wildlife teacher I had Sophomore year. He was/is a bit crazy but in a good way x3 I'm a Junior now and now I take Chem cause it's mandatory ta graduate -.- But I'm good at it even when I don't try. My teacher is cool and nice but my classmates are just, well just stupid and loud and can't stay focused cause most are Sophomores and most people take Chem Sophomore year so yeah.
My boyfriend's brother is in Honors Bio and he has Chem in it too so I think it's just preparation for Chem. I never take honors classes though all meh teachers say I should though I don't feel like it and am lazy xD Thpough a tiny bit of Chem type stuff was in Bio for me too x3
But also. Chem is part of every science. And part of everyday life. So that's also one reason there is some Chem in Bio. x3

@rileytibbles favorite science teacher? Second half of grade 3. Hated grade four. The other grade five class is so lucky! They've gotten to do explosions and expierements in chemistry and all I've gotten to do is watch videos, take notes, and I've already had THREE tests! Why? Same science as grade four. I wanna take science and chuck it against a wall until it dies. That is, If science was a person.

End of very angry rant/speech.

@rileytibbles Couldn't you ask your head of department/grade/whatever you have that can deal with the science department about it? We had sort of the same problem with our English teachers, I am not sure of grade equivelants as I am in the UK (and am very lazy so I can't be bothered to 'research' it) but I am year 10- so we can't take any messing around at the start of our GCSEs. We are all forcassed A*'s, A's and B's in top set so we really need to be focussed and use time wisely.

Over the last 2 years with the same teacher things weren't marked on time, she went on tangents, topic times/dates were spready horribly and her attitude wasn't really boosting out confidence in the subject. We weren't going to take any more of it and risk out grades. So we stated our case, and it was dealt with. The next lesson we had her, she was still her old self but with great improvement to actions and attitude. She marked things as fast as she could, we got great feedback, communication was good, we felt great for tests.

You would just have to say something along the lines of 'I am concerned about whether I shall achieve my full potential in the class I am in...' 'The way of teaching doesn't match the style of many in the class...' 'I am seeking a second opinion on the marking of this assignment/exam, I feel like there is more to it...' and then go on from there. With the third you could mention, after having it remarked or being questioned on the matter, that you worked very hard on it and know that for some of the answers you put you deserved more marks as it was highly accurate/in the required details. You could also mention no one passing her class with an A, that would catch their attention, and then they might notice the correlation between the two and fix things.

If you get your parents to contact the school then maybe you could chat with the teacher on an arranged date or - in the extreme- have a class change. So long as the 'focus' is kept on you being concerned about your education and doesn't turn into raging at a 'bad'/irritating teacher. It would probably be taken less seriously or ignored then rather than resolved as a school is meant to want the best from it's pupils not ignore their needs and true concerns.

...I need to get over the habit of typing so much in one post...

@dramatic I'm with you on that, other classes always seem to get the good stuff/treated better. It would seem the grass truly is greener in some cases, unfortunately. I wish to do the same to dance. It just was the same pattern; 'plan', make a fool of yourself, be criticised, rinse and repeat...for 3-4 months. 3-4 MONTHS. And I would still have to endure drama until I got the haven that is music. Heh, subjects should have their own Hetalia based thing, then we could beat those up. I would totally ship Art and Music 😋

@shadowhunter I don't mean to do things so long, it's because I like typing and I get carried away. In real life I barely say anything (I basically spend the whole day in silence, unless a teacher picks on me or I have/need to) so that could be why too.

@shadowhunter In my last English exam I wrote 5 and a half pages- it was speech analysis and comparison which I can't stand so it was a wonder that I wrote anything beyond a page 😋 I love creative writing though so who knows how much I shall do in that exam on Friday since it took me about an hour and 20 minutes to do the speech one.

@rileytibbles

Wow...that reminds me of my science teacher in my junior year of high school I believe it was. Can't remember exactly which grade I was in when I had him.

His name was Mr. Pipes...and it was just a normal science class. But he was so rude to everyone and literally found other peoples suffering funny. He was such a jerk.

He would tell people, who were trying really hard and completing all of their work mind you, that they had no chances of passing his class. I could MAYBE understand if they were like slackers and disrespectful and stuff, but he would tell this to perfectly good people that were trying hard and just didn't get it.

And for the entire year that I had him he would just call me that girl. He showed no effort in even trying to remember my name.

Not to mention he was kind of a creep...but I won't go into detail about that.

-__- He was just urrg. I feel like your teacher would make me feel the same way. That's extremely rude, I'm sure she has gotten plenty of things wrong in her life. Just because you get things wrong every once in awhile doesn't mean you aren't smart. I just means your human and don't know everything there is to know.

But yeah, I would say something about it, and hopefully someone does something. I would kinda consider that bullying in a way.

For the most part I had great teachers throughout high school, but it's ones like that that just really irk me. Why become a teacher if your going to be a grump and treat your students like that instead of helping them.

I wrote way more about this then I thought I would xD So I guess I'll just leave it at that 😋 I'm sorry you have to deal with that though ☚ī¸

Can't help you out. When I didn't like a teacher, I simply stopped going to his/her class. I spent a lot of time in the library teaching myself and exasperating my counselors and principle. To this day, still haven't figured out why I was never kicked out.
