Creature Issue(?)

So on my side I have this creature named Ivyheart. I haven't been on or near my side for around 3 months, the creature had 0 happiness the last time I was there so I fed it, no one else went there as far as I can tell, until today when i traded all my fish-aquatic creatures over there. I expected Ivyheart to be dead but it had 0 happiness still and no notifications for it dying popped up.
Is it a glitch or am I just extremely lucky? (Pretty sure its a glitch)

I've creatures that had 0 happiness for a looong time.
